I often think of the quote from Jurrasic Park where Jeff Goldblum's character says "Yeah, yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should."
This quote always comes to mind when I think of AI. The misuse of such a thing definitely outweighs the pros. Just like how scientists always try to come up with viruses (incredibly unethical), how is it not considered unethical and dangerous to create AI? Selling this to the public? How does this benefit the public? Just like how did outsourcing manufacturing jobs benefit the public? It didn't.
Why can't more people see this? Are we just that distracted, lazy, and stupid?
I was thinking about this very reasoning this morning. It applies to the climate/weather engineering we've been doing as well. There is no invented correction to one havoc area that doesn't create havoc for another.
Spraying the sky "to reflect the sun to slow global warming" just creates a different problem for those in the areas treated.
Moving migrants randomly from war torn areas to peaceful areas just brings the trauma and fighting to the peaceful areas.
Why does it? It's something the left doesn't understand. It's called balanced interaction accountability. It's something all markets, economies, climate regions, and govts have.
-When one portion of a larger sector is allowed to be fraudulently manipulated, it affects the others within it.
When you reduce accountability for some in a sector, it affects everyone else negatively within that sector and spills over into other sectors with which it interacts.
When you move vast numbers of people from the area they helped destroy through their inaction or political choices to another area, they bring their destructive choices and lifestyle with them.
It's the way pestilence works. Insects consume and continue to multiply even when resources are nearly gone, and then move to where the next supply exists. They do the same thing if they are allowed to move freely from the place they've destroyed to a new location. If that new location is protecting and managing its resources properly, there is nothing for the horde to feed upon, so they will choose a different target
until they have consumed everything everywhere else.
We are here ^^^ with socialism.
