Tariffs; i.e., higher taxes on the common man. Ugh.

"... the Trump mini-boom was tempered by the economic uncertainty and costs of his tariffs that hit friendly nations and adversaries alike. These included 25% duties on steel and 10% on aluminum, as well as levies on washing machines, solar panels and an array of Chinese goods that raised costs for U.S. businesses and consumers. “Tariff man” forgot about the common man.

The Tax Foundation estimated that the Trump tariffs cost American households more than $625 annually. A 2019 study by Fed economists looked at two waves of trade policy “shock,” first in 2018 and then in the first half of 2019, and estimated the impact reduced GDP growth by about one percentage point. Tariffs contributed to the slowing economy and business investment late in 2019
, which then plunged at the onset of the pandemic.

Mr. Trump and Congress responded to Covid with a $2 trillion relief bill, which was perhaps understandable given the panic in March 2020. But after shutting down the economy on the advice of Anthony Fauci, Mr. Trump too easily went along with Democratic spending priorities, including enhanced unemployment benefits that paid workers more not to work.

He also unilaterally extended Congress’s short-term student loan payment pause and eviction moratorium on dubious legal authority, which set the stage for Mr. Biden to do so repeatedly. In December Mr. Trump prodded Congress to spend another $900 billion, which was counterproductive as the economy was fast recovering. Mr. Trump is no fiscal conservative, and one risk during a second term is that Democrats cajole him into expanding entitlements, especially if there’s a recession.

Mr. Trump’s plans for the second term are unclear and sometimes contradictory. On the one hand, he wants to extend the 2017 tax rates that expire at the end of 2025. This is a big advantage over President Biden. But Mr. Trump is also proposing a 10% tariff on all imports that the Tax Foundation says would shrink the economy by 1.1% and threaten more than 825,000 U.S. jobs."

I asked here "do we know for sure that the shooter is dead" 3 days ago. I haven't seen any pictuers of a dead shooter other than some guys standing over him. They looked pretty casual over him, which seemed weird since there would have been brain matter all over the place. The whole thing is sickening.

Interesting, but it also depends on how he was hit, the type of bullet, and the conditions at the scene. Not the blood you would expect to see, for sure, and the quickness with which it turns from brown to red was not evidenced in photos I saw of the body before it was removed from the scene. Still bright red much later than it should've been, if the "reported" time the photos were taken was accurate.

The reactions this whole scene elicited are the most telling and valuable at this point, regardless of what happened. Truly revealed the sickness of so many.

Her last three words "I don't know" sum up her entire career but particularly this subject. She's a fecking moron.

Like the quote on that sign. Speaking of Maddow and MSNBC:

Mark my words. If Biden drops out, within a week, his replacement will be ahead in the National Polling average, and enough battle ground states to make this an uphill battle. Biden is the ONLY candidate that Trump can defeat. I wish I was wrong, but I KNOW I'm not.
There will be an initial new face/change bump. It will go away as soon as they open their mouth.

I’m still completely shocked the Leftist power cabal hasn’t threatened to go public with all the Biden dirty laundry, Hunter’s included, unless Joe drop out. I can’t imagine Joe is sane enough at this point to be able to retaliate in a meaningful way, unless he has a list of every other politician who is laundering money through Ukraine and has visited Epstein island.
My guess is because some of Bidens dirty laundry will be tied to Obama.

Done. Going back over a decade now, but we've been alphabet network fee free for a long time. That includes Fox as well. Have been on a Disney avoidance kick for decades because of their programming
Same here. 'Cut the cord' many years ago. Sad thing is is that all these streaming platforms (except maybe a few and the faith based ones) are just as bad. All you have to do is look at their programming 'categories' and commercials. But I'm with ya.

Precisely why telling someone to "google it" is pretty ridiculous. Duck Duck Go isn't much better anymore other than for the privacy thing. They're weighting searches just as bad as any of the others.
Was getting ready to same the same thing. Don't know what changed or who owns DuckDuckGo, but it's no better these days. Click on 'news' on the results page and it's all left wing news, magazines, etc.

Imagine if our corporate press actually gave a crap to investigate these and demand accountability. They don't. They simply just parrot whatever they're told to benefit the big government party. When you do call out the bogus lies we're fed, you're called a 'conspiracy theorist' like it's a bad thing to question the worst and most notorious liars.

The executive class gutted what was left of the real "press" over 20yrs from the 90s onward. They were bankrupted to allow the govt to control it. They've been nothing but shells for over 10 years, allowing the "propaganda bill" to become law, and the propaganda started a long time before the 90s. I think that the govt and big chemical/pharma are paying the bills while sports and the rest just make it look like they are viable companies.

There is NO such thing as corporate "press" anymore, so much as corporate marketing and propaganda groups.

When the switch comes, the GOP is going to need Elon's PAC, because to have a chance, they're going to have to mobilize immediately, into GA, PA, WI, MI, AZ, and NV. Lawyers, boots on the ground, and put the screws to them.
Why would the Musk PAC not be there for Trump because Dims switch? Idiotic.

Programmer I know told me a few years back that DDG uses Google as primary for search results. They may've also been sold to another company/corp.

So glad the left is rampant in academia. Our children are in good hands.@BBBlazing you asked when this happened, this is oneof many. many examples which can be posted.

Did BBBlazing account get deleted? Can’t tag.
The left only hires other leftists. They gatekeep industries when they take over. Academia is overwhelmingly left wing. You won't find a conservative in the humanities (who's open at least).

The problem is you just can't tell how bad people are until something like this reveals it. The majority of academia is run and populated with radical leftists. They just don't talk about it openly enough on social media to know how nasty they are. The "virtue" signaling music came to a stop when they heard about the shooting, or we'd never have seen how disgusting these people are, and how quickly NO ONE on the left wants to utter a word against their hatred.

I went through social sciences in multiple disciplines. I had two professors out of all of them who could even be close to considered moderate right.

Joe Biden had covid twice. What a loser. Probably didn’t get vaxxed.

It’s crazy to me that Democrats thought they could just hide this loser for 4 years, AND hide him through a re-election campaign.

That didn’t work, so they tried to literally assassinate Trump.

That didn’t work, so now they’re trying to transition to Kamala Harris.

That won’t work, so they’ll try to cheat real hard.

That might work, but it not, they’ll just let Antifa burn it all down again.

I had zerrrro. All far left. All of them. It was routinely shown in our assignments as well with the hypothetical scenarios they would give us. Never was there anything that was presented that was negative toward Democrats or leftism unless I brought it up in class which after awhile I felt was my duty so that at least one kid in the class could hear something that was different.

lol yeah the right are known for their critical thinking. You can’t say the left show no critical thinking while in the same sentence say that Trump was sent up there to be killed. Lmfao do you know how stupid that sounds? The truth as usual is some mentally ill lunatic was easily able to get a gun in this country and he shot someone who he dislikes (like happens all the time in this country). No one knows how the kid was able to get to that position, not even the right and their “critical thinking” can explain it. Sounds like there were errors that’ll be investigated on what tactics weren’t used that should’ve been. Also, if they wanted trump dead, they’re not sending some stupid punk kid that can’t aim lol. They’re sending the same guys that blew Kennedy brain apart. Not a guy that failed sniper school or whatever.
Some critical thinking should surely include (if it’s true) that there was an attempt to short the stocks and that this was the only live broadcast of his rallies by CNN this year.

Again, IF TRUE, those should be as powerful to an actual critical thinker as the notion that Biden became POTUS even though he lost 18 of 19 bellwether counties in addition to Florida and Ohio.

I bet you if they worked with a good investment bank, the Biden family could probably get a bigger offer from a buyer interested in keeping Joe in the race than they’re going to get from democrats for him to drop out.

Elon could just send his $45 million per month to the Biden family so long as Joe is in the race, and they wouldn’t need to waste it on ad spend.

What he does is constantly harp on the abuses of power done in the name of communism. There have been countless atrocities committed throughout history by dictatorships in the name of all sorts of things. Most of them were monarchical but there are examples from every practiced political, religious, philosophical, and economic system, from capitalism and communism to shamanistic hunter-gatherers. If you'd read Marx you'd know that capitalism, socialism, and communism are all just economic phases predicated on technological determinism, just like tribalism, slavery, and feudalism were before. I agree with you that communism won't come close to happening in any of our lifetimes. It can only happen as an outcome of a post-scarcity world provided by technology, aka Star Trek. We're still many stages away from that. What most people mean when they hate on communism is that they rightly don't want to be like the Soviet Union, Maoist China, or any of the other attempts to consolidate power done falsely in the name of the proletariat. These were lies fed to the populace to justify giving them all the same tiny slice of the pie while the oligarchs at the top took almost everything for themselves.

Now how does this relate to us? I don't claim to speak for everyone on the left but all the people I've ever engaged on the topic are interested in equality of opportunity, NOT equality of outcome. Elon Musk has recently been highlighted in this thread and is one of the most outspoken proponents of Universal Basic Income. What he and other successes in the tech industry think is that people should have a floor from which they can rise up through hard work. Nobody wants to confiscate your stuff like the USSR, or have a country where Jimmy works 40 hours a week and gets paid the same as Johnny who works 10. All the hyperbole and fear-mongering (that @CastleRubric is guilty of) just serves to drive us further apart and halt any attempt at rational discussion.

"Imagine if the roles were reversed"The left imposed a punitive social regime over the last 20 years in particular, because it works. Just one of their punitive enforcers in your workplace makes the entire organization turn into a constrained environment, where they can say whatever they want, and everyone not on their side cannot. It doesn't have to be a manager, it could be the janitor, and HR laws almost always ensure you've got at least one of these people bumping around like a subtle cultural commissariat.

Punitive systems work. They only begin to fail when they reach a certain degree of irrationality, or when juxtaposed with a similarly empowered system that is more rational than the old one. They don't have to actually like the system or its rules, it is the irrationality that matters.Being canceled or tut tutted at for pointing out basic realities is irrational. Time has made this system more irrational to the point where expecting people to show up to work on time is racist, stopping crime is racist, being a nationalist flag waver for countries you don't belong to is encouraged if it fits the foreign policy platform of the DC Consensus, but is absolutely verboten if it's your own nation.

Statues of historical figures that built societies and institutions are cast down in favor of lionized junkies, criminals, and activists who never built anything. Criticizing this is also punished, and is also irrational. If I had to argue what *one thing* unites everyone on the right, it is the anxiety and disgust brought on by this irrational punitive system. We *should* be united on the subject of replacing it with a punitive system that is similarly punitive, but utterly rational, and in our favor, not theirs.

Because the MKULTRA tier faction of Current Thing psychosis respecters have created an existential conflict where the loser suffers Reconstruction 2.0. We didn't choose those terms, they did that for us, but we need to be willing to actually win, and that means implementing a rational social standard that has punitive boundaries, albeit one that is actually rational and predictable so it can be willingly avoided."
