I started a thread about it already, but I was at the Lexington airport last night, to greet the Honor Flight Veterans (mostly Vietnam but quite a few Korean vets as well), and I can't encourage you all enough, to get on the Kentucky Honor Flight website, look at the schedule, and try to go and greet them when they return. It was an unbelievable experience. Put the politics aside, and honor these folks. They deserve it, and their appreciation was palpable.

People lined up on both sides, for the entire length of the airport, with signs, flags, cheering on the veterans (especially the Vietnam vets, who were severly mistreated, in some cases, the FIRST time they came home) It's an extremely worthy cause to support; both financially and in person.

Just 4 you, LostinFL:

In Washington , D.C. an old priest lay dying in the hospital. For years he had faithfully served the people of the nation's capital and was well known among the elected officials. He motioned for his nurse to come near.

"Yes, Father?" said the nurse.

"I would really like to see President Biden and Senator Schumer before I die, "whispered the priest.

"I'll see what I can do, Father", replied the nurse.

The nurse sent the request to The President and Congress and waited for a response. Soon the word arrived; President Biden and Chuck Schumer would be delighted to visit the priest.

As they went to the hospital, Biden commented to Schumer , "I don't know why the old priest wants to see us, but it will certainly help our images and might even get me re-elected." Schumer agreed that it was a good thing.

When they arrived at the priest's room, the priest took Biden's hand in his right hand and Schumer's hand in his left hand. There was silence and a look of serenity on the old priest's face.

Finally President Biden spoke. "Father, of all the people you could have chosen, why did you choose us to be with you as you near the end?"

The old priest slowly replied, "I have always tried to pattern my life after our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

"Amen", said Biden.
"Amen", said Schumer.
The old priest continued, "Jesus died between two lying thieves; I would like to do the same."

false and you didn't answer any of the questions. yes or no.
No...Zero evidence at all that the FBI instigated Jan 6th. That's ridiculous and hardly even worth addressing honestly. I don't entertain tin foil hat conspiracies.

No...Pelosi didn't turn down National Guard, she and Pence actually called the Pentagon asking for NG help.

Trump NEVER requested jack sh** even while the attack was happening.

J6 was cotton candy compared to the afghan pull out. Biden’s stupid tactics left 13 soldiers dead and the US running like a scared dog. Not to mention Afghanistan over run with Taliban. Biden’s horrific pullout from Afghanistan is why the world is on the brink.it was the worst display of weakness in the nations history.
And no admission at all by Biden or Kirby or Blinken that anything went wrong, and no accountability for anyone.

When I came back from a deployment, the base made a big to-do for several of us. NFL cheerleaders signing autographs and a line of Vietnam vets to greet us after coming off the stage. Several of the vets embraced me for several minutes, we were all in tears. All I could tell them was "thank you. God Bless you and i'm so sorry you didn't get this on your return. I'm grateful you're here."

Another time, we showed up for a fallen soldier return. Hundreds of us on the street, saluting as the cars went by. I remember seeing the wife and his family waving to us all and they were overcome with tears as well. Extremely touching.

I suggest everyone go to a combat zone sometime in their life, somewhere else in the world. It makes you very grateful for what we have, and what we had. That is why it pisses me off so much to watch people who benefit from being US citizens, cavalierly throw it away.

I have mixed emotions on all of that. I don't share SOME younger folks' sentiment about this country, but, sort of what you said; I think they have no perspective of just how good we have it here, and that isn't entirely their fault. It's the fault of society, that hasn't PROVIDED that persepective.

I'd be much more amenable to student loan forgiveness if a period of civil service was attached to it. Not necessarily the military (but that would count), but some manner of humanitarian service etc.

why? so senseless. i can’t imagine not complying with cops who have a gun trained on me.
i’m sure it was related to drug and mental state. i believe 99/100 cops dread the thought of ever shooting anyone.

i know of a cop who had to fatally shoot a perp and it really messed him up for a long time.

Cops do NOT want to shoot anyone (unless they're batsh*t)

Even if it's fully justified, they are IN for it. The endless investigations, administrative leave, hearings, IAA interviews, redtape, protesters, bad press, family harassment, etc. etc. would be an absolute NIGHTMARE (and rightly or wrongly, you're going to have a stigma attached to you for the rest of your career, more than likely. Meaning, your advancement probably gets a hard "ceiling' slapped on it.)

One of my tours of duty as a military cop was in Turkey ((late sixties). They came to our base (and I think many others) and offered us immediate honorable discharges if we would sign contracts to come home and be a cop at numerous big cities of our choice. Not one cop on our base said yes. The late sixties was a bad time to be a cop, but today is worse.

January 6 is the ultimate TDS barometer.

I understand how ignorant people could fall for the establishment narrative.

But as many times as it’s been pointed out to Dion and sambowieshin they are parroting lies, for them to continue to be dedicated to the establishment narrative simply because they suffer from a burning hatred of Trump that eats them up is mental illness.
What lies?

I thought you were anti-war?

I thought you were anti-war?
you can be anti-war and support the Americans willing to put their life on the line. Who wants war less? The lib with zero appreciation of the enemy, or the troop that has to leave their life, their family, their kids, not knowing if they will ever see them again?

I thought a genius like you shouldve known that. However, in reality, you are just an ungrateful piece of shit.

I don't believe in "blanket" statements about war, but Honor Flights are not ABOUT war per se. It's about honoring folks that had to (or CHOSE to) serve.

That's a pretty horrible take on a great and honorable event that I shared. Seriously... WTF?

You'd have probably been at the San Francisco airport, spitting on soldiers as they processed back stateside from SE Asia, and I'd have been the one knocking your stupid chiclets out. (I'd have gladly served the jail time for doing so) LOL

Soooo, since the cia found no connection between them and inner city drugs AND the media reported it, do you believe them?

Be careful, bc if you say yes, then you are calling all of the aggrieved Communities liars. YOU are saying they are wrong. If you say no, then i can say no, i dont believe your bullsit either.

What's that have to do with anything? They were either Conscripted or volunteered service.

I thought you were pro government jobs program? What you think the military is?

Most of those men got pulled from their everyday lives and didn’t have a choice but to go.

But you know this.
So we should be glorifying it in a big celebration? Honor Flights are a charity that takes donations and uses them for propaganda, not to help veterans. Didn't take him for the type to favor lip service over action. But honestly now that I think about it it does fit, he's a blowhard who loves that kind of gauche crap.

Sad Cold War BS. Does cheering carpet bombing make you feel strong, clown?

You literally could not be more off base about this.

I mean, you're almost universally wrong on here, but this is absurd. So, do me a small favor, with respect to this issue, and just keep your mouth shut about it. Please...

Granted, I posted this on the political forum and so I can see where I might have opened the door to politicizing it. I regret that now, deeply.

You are a terrible, ungrateful, spoiled trash of a person. And i am keeping it civil.

How much do your parents still subsidize you?

But it is  your side what is interested in revisiting the Cold War, and perhaps even making it a hot one. For example, one of the most prolific Lefties here is constantly wailing about "appeasement" as if Russia was Nazi Germany or something. 🙄
