The dudes entire legacy ended being changed bc of ww2, he deserves credit for guiding us through the war, but if it never happened who knows how long the depression would've dragged on. Virtually all economists agree we wouldve been out of it much sooner if not for his policies. The double dip of the Depression in 37 came about because Roosevelt yielded to The Treasury View. That's what Reaganomics was called in the 20s and 30s.
The best part of Roosevelt's thought was his recognition of Al Smith's ideas.
When I was in high school -- many years later -- one of our teachers was from Tennessee. To him FDR was one of the angels. Without the Depression clawing us to pieces, his voice -- which his how people knew him then -- doesn't do much for us. All I hear is Professional Bonhomie.
