Plz delete Im depressed enough

That’s damn near gaining 4 games in, what, two weeks?

Hope it continues. Twins look tough, but Brewers might be sweepable.

In the meantime, 538 projections have Reds at 58% chance of playoffs, a 2% gain on the off day.
Not even 2 weeks, 11 or 12 days max.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals get the Pirates, Royals and the Brewers again to close the season out. All have losing records. Pirates are awful. only saving grace is they play a lot of double headers and their rotation is going to be shot. The Reds at least have a couple of days off thrown in the mix. they've managed to mostly avoid having to postpone a lot of games. Had a small few there in the middle, but they will be well rested going into a playoff run.

Beauty is the Reds are also tied with the Phils for the last WC.
Both the Phils and Cards have tanked simultaneously while the Reds are streaking and going 7-3 their last 10.
Plus, the Giants are only 1 game up on the Reds for the 1st WC.
Reds will almost certainly be in this race until the end now.

Stayed at the Marriott beside the stadium Monday night while the Reds were playing a double header with no fans. Eerie feeling walking around the stadium and hardly anyone around on gameday. Beautiful how they have vastly improved that area.

Maybe the best lineup of the yr for Cincy:

Thats six wins in a row for Cincinnati and 8 out of 10.
Bauer goes tomorrow.
From 20-26 to 26-26.
Short season with no fans or not.....this is awesome!

Reds 3 paths to playoffs w/8 gms left

-Tied with Cards for 2nd in Central and Playoff spot
-Tied with Giants for 2nd WC and playoff spot
-1/2 gm back of Phillies for 1st WC and playoff spot.

If you haven't noticed the NL is tight!

My Dad died this morning, would have been 78 on the 29th. He had been bed bound for over 2 yrs with knee and hip replacements.

Dad is the reason why I pull for the Reds as he took me and the fam from Shepherdsville, Ky to see the Big Red Machine in 1975 when I was going on 9 yrs old.

Im glad he went out with the Reds on a long win streak.

I love you Dad and I will miss you, I hope the Reds make the playoffs and win it for you.

🙏🏻

Sorry about your pop!

Cincinnati has won 3 straight, 4 of 5, 5 of 7 and are 8-5 their last 13 games.

For you younger fans, that is known as a “Playoff Push” ...

Reds are just 23-26 but with expanded playoffs this October the Reds are just 1 gm, 1.5 gms and 1.5 games back of 3 separate NL playoff spots with 11 still to play!

Cincy 1 gm back of San Fran for 2nd WC spot.
Cincy 1.5 gms back of Philly for 1st WC spot.
Cincy 1.5 gms back of Cards for 2nd in Central and playoff spot.

I know this is a football board but with still basically 2 weeks to go before the Auburn game and it being 7 yrs since Cincinnati had a winning season and 7 yrs since they made the playoffs I felt this OT trend was apropriate.

The Reds have stayed in the race because of the 7 inn DH games. The Reds are 9-3 in DH games with 3 sweeps and 3 splits.

The Reds do 3 things well: the Pitcher’s strike out people and the hitters walk alot and hit Dingers.

The Phillies, San Fran and the Cards as well as the Reds all have tough schedules down the stretch.

Reds have 2 legit aces in Bauer and Castillo and the addition of Archie Bradley has solidified the bullpen with Iglesias, Garrett and Sims all being very good.

Senzel is finally back and hopefully Winker will be back in the lineup tonight after missing about 5 games with a back strain.

When healthy this lineup is formidable:

Akiyama
Castellenos
Votto
Suarez
Winker
Moustakes
Stephenson
Senzel
Galvis

Plus, hopefully Sonny Gray will be back from a back strain to pitch v the Twins in the last series of the season.
Votto is a payroll drain trade him or release him Reds won’t make playoffs never changes

Agent Bauer is wheelin and dealing boys. Let's GOOO REDLEGS. We got the eyes of the nation on us this evening on FOX

Dodgers are winning the nl anyways. 8 team playoff is a joke so any team worth a damn can sneak in. My cardinals are not worth a damn this season so doubt they make it.

So I know the White Sox are pretty formidable, but is their record somewhat a product of the competition they’ve been relegated to playing in the shortened, regionalized season?

Chicago made several big time offseason moves. Most folks expected Minnesota to take the division with Chicago and Cleveland challenging.

I think the reality this year has ALWAYS been everyone is playing for second. I will be completely shocked if the Dodgers dont take the title this year. The shortened season only helps them.

Still, REDS WIN! 8 of last 10, 3rd series win in a row!

6 games left, 3 v the Brewers and then 3 v Twins. Time to nut up and lock a playoff berth in. Lets gooooo

The Brewers series is pretty vital, to say the least.

Someone please give the scenarios. . . . ain’t it essentially down to the Reds and the Brewers for the 16th slot?? The Giants appear to have a slim shot on 538 also.

Division leaders are locks and Padres look good to get 2nd place bid n west. East 2nd place marlins or Phillies and central 2nd wide open. 2 wild cards also wide open.

Reds rotation for Milwaukee:

Castillo
Gray
Bauer (on 3 days rest)

Cincinnati is serious about this.

Reds are 12-6 their last 18 gms.
Reds are 9-3 their last 12 gms.
Reds are 7-1 their last 8 gms.

With an off day Thursday Id imagine the Reds will go Castillo, Gray, Bauer all on 3 days rest v Minnesota over the weekend.

You know, you look at the NL Central, and no one is above .600 with 3 clubs hovering at .500, then you realize what a high percentage of all of their games have been against one-another . . . anyone of the Central teams might be a challenge even if playing on the road against teams with gaudier records.

Indeed. As nervous as it makes me, its pretty badass that its Milwaukee next up for us. 3 games to decide it basically. Of course we have Twins as well but I guess Im looking at that more for catching StL.

Dont forget the dirty birds have a few doubleheaders for makeup games. Those could make or break them easily.

Just worry about Milwaukee for now.

It’s kind of weird that we are both on the 50% bubble, etc., etc.

Looking at Nate Silver’s 538, I’m guesstimating (without much current knowledge of baseball), that taking 2 of 3 from the Brewers, and just one of three on the road, thereafter, would likely punch the Reds’s ticket, at 30-30, and should the Reds take 4 of the last 6, and finish 31-29, it’s almost damn certain.

What would some good signs be entering this bizarre finish? Maybe stuff like players settling into their historic roles, aka, Joey Votto having an .800 on base percentage at crunch time, and pitchers who killed us at the beginning, lowering their early astronomically high ERA’s the last two weeks in Iglesias and Lorenzen.

Baseball is the polar opposite of football. FB is linear. . . the biggest and fastest simply win 95% of the time.

You gotta’ hit a round ball with a round bat in BB, or so said some old sage.

Who knows?!?!

Unfortunately St Louis owns tiebreaker over Reds for 2nd in Central and playoff spot due to head to head (6-4).

Reds currently hold the advantage over Brewers 4-3...

Not sure what the tiebreaker would be in either of the 2 wildcard playoff spots with teams outside the Reds division.

Anyone know?

Hack the Reds kinda debunked that analogy as recent as yesterday when they walked 11 times v Pale Hose. 11! Reds won the game 7-3 with but 5 hits!
With 3 walks yesterday Votto past Pete Rose for the most walks in Reds history.

The NL playoff race is insanely close!

6 teams within 1.5 games of each other for 4 playoff spots during the final week of the season.

MLB has to be sitting back and basking in the baseball awesomeness!

I agree but Mahle and Lorenzen have really pitched well lately but will probably be in the pen this week.

The Little Rhinelanders are rolling on! 6-3 over the Brewers in the first of three!!

Thats 2 straight wins for Cincinnati (27-26):

8-1 their last 9
9-2 their last 11
10-3 their last 13
13-6 their last 19
In the clutch too I might add...

This team has been playing great baseball for 3 weeks now, it should not come as a surprise that they currently are tied with St Louis for 2nd in the NLC, have a half gm lead over Philly for 1st WC spot and could have a full game lead over the Giants for the 2nd WC spot and the Reds are only 1/2 gm behind the Marlins who finish with 3 in Atl and 3 in NYY.
All that $$$$ Castellini shelled out in the off season is paying dividends...

The Reds are the hottest team in MLB!!!
The Big Red Machine is Back bay bay!!!!
