As many of us have assumed...it wasn't the "horrible and ugly things said", it was RP overflowing with disappoint. His emotions got the better of him. As one poster said...good chance this is his last game at Rupp and he just couldn't control himself

The NCAA has accused Pitino of intimidating witnesses,there is no doubt in my mind that players have been threatened to keep mouths closed,that Andre McGee got a payoff to be the fall guy (although it's going to go higher),you can't coverup the fact that a sex party was set up after McGee was at UMKC with phone and money transfer records.Jurich and Pitino have been using their power to shut up anyone they can,that could give pertinent info on the scandel,the only person they can't shut up is Katina Powell,and they have had people file sham lawsuits and paid off hookers to deny what happened,
There is no doubt Powell's book and journal are truthful and all these things went on,how UL Fans can keep supporting the slime at their University is beyond me.If this happened at UK I'd demand a house cleaning.

This is the way liars operate. They rationalize and find excuses for their actions. To him he did not flip off UK fans - he flipped off "a" fan. If they would have asked him did you make a gesture with your middle finger in the tunnel after the game he would have simply said it was a different finger, I was saying we're #1...

Very simple. If a guy lies about big things like banging a skank on a table while married he will lie about little things. Man does not know the truth if it grabbed him.

Glad to see a couple people mention Pitinos distaste for Kentuckians. He's taken millions from people he hates. Kentucky is his ATM and nothing else.

About time to see this guy get exposed. Tired of people continuing to make excuses for him. If only your eyes were open.

I think Rick just lost it yesterday. The question about giving a UK fan the finger, set him off. I doubt UL admin or their lawyers want him talking anything about the investigation. Just talking about an investigation is becoming grounds for termination in a lot of companies. And it also just pushed the story back into the media headlines again, which I am sure UL does not want.

I am in a field of work, that deals with this "stuff" everyday. So be patient on the investigations. It does take time to do interviews and gather facts. Then you have to go through the process of determining what rules, if any, were broken. Also, in my line of work, once you start the investigation, 75-80% of the time, you stumble into some other allegation. Then you have to look into all of those offshoots.

Then I am sure the NCAA will give UL notice, and negotiations will start. So Pitino's comment about July is probably a pretty good estimate. I believe in the end, UL will push the get this resolved early in the offseason. I doubt they want to go into another season with this hanging over them, for lots of reasons, including recruiting.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Most companies (and schools) now a days, just cut their losses. Buy off the "potential offenders" and have them quietly resign. But UL has shown that their ethics is not that stellar. You have 2 publicly acknowledged adulterers leading student athletes in your 2 most popular sports. Regardless of what UL fans may say, that tells you everything you need to know about Ramsey/Jurich and their program overall.

They did not "criminally" come on to your campus Rick. They were invited to be there, they were PAID to be there. There can be no whore without a customer.

Eric Crawford should do an investigation on that timeline. He's the only one that can get to the bottom of it.

Would love to see Pimptinos banner come down and be replaced by one for Tubby. Tubby won a title and was nothing but class before, during and after his tenure.

Take Pitino's name off the banner and replace it with "Pre-Cal 3", Tubby can be "Pre-Cal 2" and BCG can be "Pre-Cal 1".

I'm in the "crisis containment" business too...and I must say: I'm having a blast watching UL and UNC fumble the ball on just about every snap. They repeatedly make decisions that resemble a Saturday Night Live skit. It's Comedy Hall of Fame quality, no doubt.
 
How bad was Rick's Rant?

Let's apply 5 of the 10 commandments of Crisis Management (that we practice):
* Get the accurate facts so you can get in front of the story
* NEVER speak without a plan
* Transparency builds credibility (so you don't contradict yourself)
* No blame fixing...the Buck stops 'here'
* Shy away from confronting opposing opinions (even if you win, you lose)
 
Interesting stuff yesterday with Pitino going into full Spintino mode, and what this means for U of L is some really bad stuff in the very near future. With Pitino the one thing you can count on is his ego getting the best of him, and his ability to tell the truth does not exist within his body. If you read between the lines of what he said and what he did yesterday was the second time within a week he flipped the bird and this time it was to the U of L administration and powers that be. He was told NOT to talk to the media which he has done for the most part except for a brief period of time after the Strippergate story broke. Now he has decided that he wanted to talk because the media was calling him out and he could not take it any longer.

First sign of trouble is when your own supporters in the media call you out and Bozich nailed him - "how can you know the bodyfat levels of every player but not know that strippers turned your beloved Minardi Hall into Spearmint Pitino complete with an ATM that spits out $2 bills?

Next is the pack of lies Pitino added to his already growing list of tales:

"Why did you not talk to the press after the UK game?" Pitino cites it was an emotional game for him and did not want to talk to the media because the scandal would come up. Same excuse he gave for the ACC media days and leaving his players out to dry and not being there for them. He is told not to talk and uses that as a reason to hide like a little girl from the media, BUT then he talks to the media yesterday which he has repeatedly told his he could not because he was directed not to. He is either (A) lying again, or (B) taking a stance against the U of L administration - more on this later.

He then uses the excuse that " we didn't get one recruit" in discussing the Strippergate incident. If it did not happen why even address a situation that you said never happened. Secondly, this is the same exact excuse he used with Karen Sypher "it does not count because it only lasted 15 seconds." Wow! so because no recruits came to U of L despite hiring strippers who became hookers and were paid for it the scandal should not count? How dumb can someone be? That is an admission of guilt by U of L stating that because nobody signed it did not count. Cheating and being bad at it is still an NCAA violation. Not to mention get some not ones if you are going to do it.

Then he attacks ESPN for giving a forum to that person complaining "someone criminally came on to our campus." Uh Rick. The reason they were there is because you invited them and you paid them to have sex with recruits and players. Do you see other schools angry at ESPN for this? No - because those schools don't operate a brothel in their dorms.

Finally, he tried to say the media dissolved the theories in the book and there was no 4 year record kept so it did not happen, and Katina could not put two sentences together. Katina may not be able to put toe sentences together, but she can put two people or more together( her ladies with your recruits and players). As far as her journal the NCAA saw it, ESPN saw it, the book publisher saw it, and your defense is it does not add up to refute it. You have already stated that it did not happen right?

Then the real intent comes out. "I think something scurrilous did happen and it was all because of one person. That is not how I taught him or how his parents taught him" referring to McGee. Wait a minute. You have spent months telling us it did not happen, she is a liar, there is no proof, you know everything that happens in your program " if a chair broke I would know it", and NOW you tell us it did happen and because of one person. That right there my friends is the beginning of the end. Pitino is now changing from it did not happen mode to saying it happened and does not know he did not know since he knows everything in his program.

This was very clearly thought out by Pitino and it means that he knows they are going to get nailed, and the only chance he has of saving his job/getting a payout from U of L is to make it about McGee and U of L getting nailed and claiming he was ignorant and knew nothing of it. McGee is not talking and will probably get $$ to keep his mouth shut - only way he ever gets paid for a hoops related job. Given that fact Pitino knows that U of L has to accept that story and theory and take their medicine. To implicate Pitino U of L would risk a heavier penalty from the NCAA possibly, but the lack of institutional control charge in that U of L cannot get away from is pretty tough. If they say they did not know what a coach was doing on their staff in regards to violating rules they are nailed. If they admit it and say the assistant did it and Pitino did not know they still get nailed but Pitino can have plausible deniability. Either way the school gets nailed and Pitino is taking his chances they cannot prove he knew. He might have thought yesterday he was saving himself, but what he really did was nail U of L with it - he is just hoping he skates with less damage. Key question is does U of L finally fight back which would scorch the entire department. Just have to wait and see.

That board has gone complete meltdown today, and they actually have a post/response with mods asking how to monitor the board since so many people are complaining. They are literally eating themselves, and posters are chiming in about certain posters being abusive to others, this is a free board, why are posts being deleted, why can "Mr Wrestle an Old Lady" insult others but they cannot....

He literally says it is his vacation to go on the board and try to insult UK fans. Think about that. Your life is so horrible that you get your kicks by playing internet tough guy and insulting others you know cannot fight back or they get banned. Funniest thing is nobody uses his LPT name he uses except him and they call him out for it. To bad LPT means Louisville's Probationary Terms. Maybe it means Louisville's Powell Transaction? He is so ahead of his time it was like he knew. [roll]

Remember when Cal telling T Jones he was a selfish mfer (he was being one haha) was a huge deal?

At least that interaction was between coach and player.

Rick flips off fans, nothing. Incredible. Can I be a coach at UL? Seems like a sweet gig. Pays well, do whatever you want.
 
My theory....the money people at U of L have paid Andre off to say nothing and left Pitino out of the loop.

Pitino was never asked about the scandal by the way. Volunteered all of that on his own. Speaks volumes.
