It may not seem like it but that is because our defense is just a lot different from last years defense. Last year our Total defense was ranked 85th in the country right now it is just a tad better at 81st.
Our Scoring defense is quite a bit better this year at the moment ranked 68th to last years final ranking of 86th.
The odd thing is that passing defense has falter tremendously going from a ranking of 35th last year to 115th this year. At the same time our rushing defense went from 110th last year to 42nd this year. (Could this be because our safties are coming up more to assist in stopping the run?)
So our run defense improve at the expense of our pass defense, however we have improved incrementally overall and significantly in scoring defense.
Of course this could change a bit with two more games to play but not a tremendous amount.
