I just watched a video on Youtube of Brian Shaw(a team member at the time of the incident) and found it very interesting so I'm posting the link in case anybody else is interested. Like most sports fans I was outraged at Sprewell at the time, as were most people. But after watching the interview I heard some things the media never covered at the time, in part because everybody associated with the team was under gag order from a judge. It appears that PJ had been picking on Sprewell for quite a while for things unrelated to basketball that I'm not going to mention because that is a topic I'm never going to bring up on this board. According to Shaw, Sprewell finally snapped and told PJ he was going to mess him up if he said another word and PJ did have more to say. When the attack happened NONE of the players tried to pull Sprewell off PJ because they all thought PJ had it coming. Now I'm not going to excuse Sprewell for trying to choke a guy to death; that is always going to far. But Carlissimo probably did deserve a punch in the mouth and I don't the incident would have happened with any other coach.
If anybody posts the details I left out this thread will probably turn into a sh**show so I probably won't come back to this thread but here's the link in case anybody is interested:
