OT Reds get Puig, Kemp and Wood from LA for Bailey and prospects

As someone who watches 95% of the Reds games, i love it.

Decent prospects going to LA but Josiah Gray is a pitching prospect and you never know how that’ll go, Homer Bailey was the worst pitcher in baseball last year and owed a ton of money, and Jeter Downs was a decent prospect who may turn out to be a good mlb player.

Puig is going to rake in GABP, Alex Wood is pretty solid, and Kemp is still decent but could be flipped to an AL to be a DH. And Kyle Farmer was once a well regarded catchin prospect

Overall, the prospects given up weren’t a huge loss in my eyes. Good to see the reds active, haven’t seen that in a number of years

I feel your pain. This is the longest drought I can ever recall without the Reds in a World Series. They went from 1961 to 1970; 1976 to 1990, but now it's close to 29 years.
This is why I laugh at people who want to bail on the Kentucky Wildcats because they haven't won it all in six years or been to the Final Four in three.

I've only ever loved two sports teams in my life -- the Kentucky Wildcats and Cincinnati Reds. Both date back to the 1960s. I've seen a total of seven championships in those 50-plus years, along with a handful of very near misses, and consider myself richly rewarded. If you pretend to love a team but don't have the stomach to ride out a few decades of misery, as with the Reds, you are just kidding yourself.

Bryce Harper is in it for the Dodgers. Clears "luxury tax" room, salary and centerfield for Harper. This is a clear win for the Reds. I know they only happen every couple decades, but embrace it.
Md I think you are spot on. Nothing else would make sense.

Small market teams should all be eliminated or funded.
With few exceptions, the system is rigged so that the rich get richer.

Merry Christmas to me....
Kemp in left, Schebler in Center and Puig in right.
Wood is a lefty with an ERA under 4.
Castellini is serious again!!!

I wouldn't be surprised to see Senzel in center to start the year...

That is unless they trade him to get Kluber and/or move Scooter. Schebler and Winker could be a trade piece...hell Kemp might be too.

Kemp and Puig are both FA's at end of year. They won't trade Puig because he will sell some tickets. Everyone else is fair game.

Plus added a legit starter to rotation.

I would trade Senzel and Iglesias for 3 years of Kluber in a heart beat.

Love to see this!

Welp the NL central will be quite competitive this coming year.

I’m a stl cards fan and we picked up Goldschmidt and Lefty Reliever Andrew Miller so far.

I don’t know who the Brewers and Cubs have returning but I’m gonna go out on a limb and say the NL central will be the toughest division next year.

I cried as a little boy when the Reds traded Frank Robinson for Milt Pappas, Jack Baldschun and Wayne Simpson. And my dad said to me, ‘be brave son. Someday the Reds will get the better of a blockbuster deal.”

Puig is no Frank Robinson. But getting him, another legitimate hitter a starting pitcher AND dumping Homer Bailey - while getting $7.5 million? This may be the closest day in more than 50 years to proving dad right.

Lol the Reds got Joe Morgan, Geronimo, and Billingham for Lee May and Tommy Helms! That’s highway robbery looking back on it. They also gave up nothing for George Foster, Tom Seaver, etc

Kemp can’t play CF
More like
LF - Kemp/Winker platoon
CF - Schebler and Senzel
RF - Puig

I don't care how they do it. I'm just glad I don't have to watch Billy Hamilton and his pathetic OBP anymore. A dude with that speed who can't draw walks or put the ball play enough to use his speed is unbearable to watch even if he can play defense like nobody's business.

I swear he’d struggle hitting against high school pitching sometimes. I was ecstatic when they released him

Truth.

I will add that I really like Billy as a person.

Nothing but positive for the reds

Kemp has been decent lately, maybe flip him to a contender at the deadline
Either hope Puig gets his head on straight or hope for a good year and flip
Wood, though often injured, is a very good pitcher
Bailey just needed to go for a multitude of reasons
