This team really needed one of the 7 footers to live up to their hype. They’ve all had their moments, but none are up to the task on a consistent basis.
Once again Z outperforms Ugo in less mins.

And yet his ceiling. Cal had chances to play him on blowouts early on and Z barely saw the court. Yet he continues to outperform Ugo.
He outscored him 7 to 2 tonight and was perfect from the field. Outblocked Ugo 3-2. More importantly Ugo has scored 2pts in his last 49 mins, 2 games.
Did you see that steal Z had at the end of the game where he stayed in bounds down the side line as a 7 foot, 2 player. And gave a great pass for the assist. He has so much more upside. Maybe you're right. It's too late. He's only played 8 games. He just has so much more potential than Ugo in my opinion.
It doesn’t malpke any difference . You can’t win it all with freshmen and Cal won’t play the best lineups due to not wanting to hurt kids nba chances .
I really feel sorry for people who save all year to have the SEC tourney be their vacation and we have a coach who could care less about winning it .

Cal choosing to put our 3 best players together on the court for a paltry sum of minutes is a bigger crime than any production or lack there of from the bigs.
Agreed. I don't know if there's been any time in history where a guy brought 2 lottery picks off the bench with no lottery picks in the starting lineup. Cow is a genius though.🙄
Ugo gives us nothing on offense or defense most games. Can't finish at the rim. At that point, play Z.

They all suck. Play the most skilled offensive weapons or lose. Period.
Touch, vs, hands of stone. Love Ugo but Z is without a doubt our best option. Ugo doesn’t have thr basketball iq to make that steal. Even if he did he would have lost it out of bounds. Z doesn’t get cooked on D as much as people let on.
No he doesn't, most games. Prime example, last night. He literally did nothing, and you're playing 4 on 5 with the offense. He can't even hit a layup.
Things most any other coach would have already taught him.

We average 90 points a game and you think our non scoring center not scoring is the problem? Seriously?
Exactly. It’s like a football team that plays 2-3 QB’s because none separate enough to be “the guy.” If you play 2 or 3 QB’s, it means you don’t have a QB. I believe the same logic applies to our center position this year.

Someone said Cow has basically gotten in his head. He's stopped shooting 3's and basically gone into a shell offensively.
Z was playing loose and free, having an absolute fun time and Cow basically shut him down.

With the way our guards can’t keep opponents from driving past them to the rim, we should be playing zone all the time. Sure, we gave up an open corner three last night in the zone, and Cal immediately went back to man. Well, our man-to-man had already been destroyed by open threes and drives to the basket. The first two defensive possessions we were in the zone resulted in two TAM turnovers. Since Cal doesn’t like zone, I doubt that they practice it much. Really, I wonder if they practice any defense at all.
Kinda when a team like AM scores 97. Last I checked 97 was greater than 90. We are out of runway. We are not getting better at D and Ugo has no offense. 2 pts in his last 49mins, woof. We have to run and gun and outscore.
Just curious , who is supposed to be guarding those wide open drives from the opponents ? Why is it all Ugo and Z’s fault ??

None of the bigs are consistent. They don't need offence from that spot. Need toughness and rebounding.

Well obviously giving up 100 points no one played great D. The thing that stood out tome about Z was a lack of effort on D
Z IS NOT a back to the basket player! Cal is once again mismanaging a player because of their height! Wait until Z has a couple of pro seasons under his belt, and you will see what I am talking about.
