On just a real serious note

Santa comes tonight for our little guy as my wife is an ER Nurse and works Christmas Day. Waiting for him to fall asleep so I can make the magic happen. This is probably his last year of “Santa” as he’s 9.

Merry early Christmas from Bloomington, IL everyone!

Anyone else work somewhere that "Merry Xmas" can't be said? I do. We have Muslims here who get their knickers in a bunch anytime someone talks about Jesus, Christ or says God. At the team meeting the oh so politically correct supervisor said "Happy Holidays". Then someone else found a way to say over the mic "Merry Xmas!". You should have seen the look on the supervisor's face as she scanned the crowd for reactions that she could investigate.

Edit: to be clear, I say "Merry Christmas (as in Christ)", but I'm okay with it being spelled either way because of the "X".

Enjoyed Crossroads ( Oakley mother ship location ) for an hours delight last night - any Nky peeps JUST GO .. so much talent and innovation laser beamed at highlighting the gift of Christmas , the light of the world , Jesus .
A mini symphony, the best voices in all the world , 1000s of candles . A 9 year old reading Isiah in front of 5-6k people . How they get so in an hour is something else — 3 services today - GO , at least go experience Jesus somewhere .

I agree. I just can't do it. Merry Christmas to all. Jesus is the Reason for the Season ! ! !

Hoping all have a Merry Christmas! If you do not do Christmas have a great day! I for one know this time of year is about Jesus. Yes there is debate about the Christian Church stealing the holiday from Pagans. Does not matter why we choose to celebrate the birth of Jesus. It is what it means for me and I am sure others celebrate for other reasons. The world is a big place and has room for each to celebrate this time of year as they see fit. Love and peace to all of you here.

Well, I think it does matter. There’s an agenda behind it that wants to shove secular humanism down our throats. Agreed that the reason for the season deserves the emphasis

I never understood why so many let a few dictate what they do.

I don’t like the term Xmas because it x’s out the most important part, which is Christ. Merry Christmas everyone!

The X stands for Christ. It's from the Greek letter X (Chi) short for Christos. Christians have been using this abbreviation for literally hundreds of years.

Merry Christmas to you all! ❤️

And because the conversation is sliding that way, which is because it is literally becoming a pop theme among Christians to suspect otherwise—it is actually very highly likely that Jesus of Nazareth was born December 25th. It is also essentially impossible that He was born very far outside that date. The window of possibility is only about ten days. The possible date is fairly tightly constrained by holy scripture, secular documentary history, and the relevant Hebrew and secular calendars. Given those facts and the custom of the early church to celebrate His birth on the 25th (which started much, much earlier than what is claimed by pop fads today) it is hard to imagine any date other than the 25th could hold water, although again it is technically possible within a very small range of variance.

Here’s a link to an analysis of one group of boundary conditions (there are others). It is a long read and is very scholarly, with all sources cited. You have to care a lot about this to really find and understand the actual historical possibilities, whereas the contrary stories can be spread without anyone caring much about the details at all. Which is how we have come to this present pass.

Shepherds in Israel really do keep sheep in the hills in December, even today.

Mithra/Sol Invictus was a later knockoff of Jesus’ birth; that celebration was grafted onto December 25 to rival and leverage the early Christian celebration, and not the other way around——again, pretty easily proven but only with careful scholarship. I.e.: only people who care enough about careful scholarship to do it will generally be saying it and only people who respect careful scholarship enough to check it out will generally be moved enough to be convinced. Sic transit gloria mundi.

Etc. etc. etc.

But those that know and read any of the good books, Bible, Torah, or Quran know that this world will try everything in it ability and more to stop any Christian beliefs. We see it more and more. All we can do is not be the judge, spread the word to those willing to receive it and wish all others well. It will only get worse. I grew up in the 60s and 70s. I remember how we would see Merry Christmas on every store front window, see signs of the season proudly displayed. Then in the late 70s some stores changed to Happy Holidays. Heck now we see as much Halloween decorations (if not more) than Christmas. We have choices, give in and let it happen, or again spread it to those that want to listen. Those that choose not to wish them well. We are not the judge. That is very hard for me, not to judge. As I get older, it gets easier. I remember when we first started hearing about Happy Holidays over Merry Christmas at my school, that just made us students go all in on Merry Christmas that much more. I do sometimes say happy holidays or if I have a friend or acquaintance business or other that is say Jewish, I wish them Happy Chanukah, I have some atheist friends and just wish them well in the season. Almost each and every one that knows I am Christian, which should be all, will typically say Merry Christmas and not Happy Holidays, reason being (because I asked), is because I took the time to care and give tidings for them specifically. Out in public it is much harder.

I try to do as taught, Love one another, loving one another is caring enough to allow others to have glad tidings for what ever faith or lack there of. Do I achieve this. Not every day by any means, but I think it is more now that when I was 20. Hopefully by the time I pass on it will be even more.
