Not encouraged by Pope comments on Butler's return

That isn’t encouraging. He’s by far our best perimeter defender, and although he’s not the absolute best playmaker at point guard, his steadiness can’t be understated. The huge uptick in turnovers with him out of the lineup isn’t a coincidence and doesn’t bode well for us if we have to play an extended stretch without him.

I hope Chandler isn't his replacement. Somehow he has went from not playable to playing in front of kids in the regular rotation .

If Butler's done, so is Kentucky. We'll limp into the tournament with something resembling an 18-12 record, and then get flame throwed in the first or second round.

The moral of the story: increase the NIL and get more players.
Which is better than what Cal produced the last several seasons. Win 1 or 2 games in the tournament is a success for this year considering what Pope had to deal with thanks to Cal.

With the defense this team plays we would be lucky to win one game even with Butler.

This is such a spent excuse. We allegedly had around 5 or 6 million in NIL pledged on the day of the Pope's presser. He had a portal full of talented players, many of which we went after and whiffed on. Some of which included his former BYU players. He also had multiple uncommitted high school players we tried to recruit and also whiffed on. Not to mention, for the right offer, many players are willing to enter the portal. Even though you aren't supposed to speak to kids not in the portal, we all know it happens. We have again whiffed on several of the HS recruits we went after from this cycle.

Winning only 1 or 2 games will be the same disappointment it would be anytime.

Talks alot about 'navigating' (Pope's favorite word in the post-game) like a new season with players having new roles so it doesn't sound promising. Said they may try (playing Butler) again in a couple of weeks. Mentions roster changes. Doesn't sound promising at all.
Damn

Not unless we only win two more.

UK can get to 7 SEC wins and still make the tourney based on quality wins alone. I know it sounds crazy, but a 7-11 record in the SEC would still get them in. No one else has the wins this UK team does.

Very true. Our quality of wins vs bad losses would get us in the field even with an 18-14 record. And there are going to be a couple games where we just hit everything and the other team can't throw it in the ocean. But without Butler this team is going nowhere in the tournament.

There is a rumor out there that he needs shoulder surgery and if he gets it, his season is over. But they are exploring using intense physical therapy that could allow him to play without doing it until the season is over.

Really hope the PT works.
That’s the season if so! We go no where without Butler

Next man up. I love Butler and he was my favorite this year (even though love them all) buy time for all able bodied players to step up and rally.
The problem is there’s nobody at his position to step up. The guy who was supposed to be his backup, Kriisa, is also out.

The frightening fact is we may be facing the rest of the season with no point guards at all. And against one of the toughest conference schedules ever.

NIL has leveled the playing field for everyone. If you think we will have more NIL funds than anyone else you are dreaming. TX, AUBURN, A&M, TN, FL, AR, DUKE, UNC, Louisville, CONN, and many more will match or beat any offer we make to a recruit. It will take more than throwing more money at these kids. If truth be known, I would bet that we were not second in the Wilson recruitment. How much money are we going to throw at Ament? I will say that every team that is recruiting him has as much or more NIL than us. It has to be culture development, relationships that'll win the recruits. I hope Pope is either a great recruiter or will become a great recruiter. As much as we dislike Cal, we can't deny his ability to recruit. Recruiting is the only answer to long term success. Portal kids can fill a void, but you can't build a long trerm winning program trying to buy portal kids with NIL. Remember most portal kids are there because they can't see the floor where they are or are out for the money. This is not building a culture that kids parents want their son playing in.
Recruit, Recruit, Recruit,, Culture, Culture, Culture, Develop, Develop, Develop is the ONLY way.

Lol, if you believe any of this, you aren't even worth debating with.

The next man up went down months ago. The next next man up isn’t ready to play this level of basketball. The next next next man up is apparently a 7 foot tall center.

What do you disagree with? Is it NIL other teams have, is it portal kids, is it recruiting is the life of a program, is it development is not important, is it that culture is not important? Just what do you not agree with. If you think these things are not important, please explain why not.

All of it. I would love to see your evidence supporting any of it.

Let's get this straight. Recruiting is not important, we are the only school with NIL funds, Portal kids is the way to build a team, Development is not something kids care about, a good culture means nothing to the kids or their parents. I know you think we have all the money so it will be easy buy a championship team every year. You should apply to be our basketball GM.

Exactly right man. You nailed it exactly with the fallacies!

P.S. when you ask someone for evidence and they breakdown and resort to fallacy arguments, it kind of highlights the fact their initial argument lacked supporting evidence and was just based on assumptions.
