Not encouraged by Pope comments on Butler's return

That isn’t encouraging. He’s by far our best perimeter defender, and although he’s not the absolute best playmaker at point guard, his steadiness can’t be understated. The huge uptick in turnovers with him out of the lineup isn’t a coincidence and doesn’t bode well for us if we have to play an extended stretch without him.

There is a rumor out there that he needs shoulder surgery and if he gets it, his season is over. But they are exploring using intense physical therapy that could allow him to play without doing it until the season is over.

Really hope the PT works.

I hope Chandler isn't his replacement. Somehow he has went from not playable to playing in front of kids in the regular rotation .

If Butler's done, so is Kentucky. We'll limp into the tournament with something resembling an 18-12 record, and then get flame throwed in the first or second round.

The moral of the story: increase the NIL and get more players.

Which is better than what Cal produced the last several seasons. Win 1 or 2 games in the tournament is a success for this year considering what Pope had to deal with thanks to Cal.

With the defense this team plays we would be lucky to win one game even with Butler.

This is such a spent excuse. We allegedly had around 5 or 6 million in NIL pledged on the day of the Pope's presser. He had a portal full of talented players, many of which we went after and whiffed on. Some of which included his former BYU players. He also had multiple uncommitted high school players we tried to recruit and also whiffed on. Not to mention, for the right offer, many players are willing to enter the portal. Even though you aren't supposed to speak to kids not in the portal, we all know it happens. We have again whiffed on several of the HS recruits we went after from this cycle.

Winning only 1 or 2 games will be the same disappointment it would be anytime.

Talks alot about 'navigating' (Pope's favorite word in the post-game) like a new season with players having new roles so it doesn't sound promising. Said they may try (playing Butler) again in a couple of weeks. Mentions roster changes. Doesn't sound promising at all.
Damn

Not unless we only win two more.

UK can get to 7 SEC wins and still make the tourney based on quality wins alone. I know it sounds crazy, but a 7-11 record in the SEC would still get them in. No one else has the wins this UK team does.

Very true. Our quality of wins vs bad losses would get us in the field even with an 18-14 record. And there are going to be a couple games where we just hit everything and the other team can't throw it in the ocean. But without Butler this team is going nowhere in the tournament.

That’s the season if so! We go no where without Butler
