Dickie V says on Twitter that we should be nervous about Skal's eligibility. What an absolute hater. This really just reads to me that Dick is hoping that Skal will be ruled ineligible so his Dukies have a chance in the Champions Classic.

Strange time for him to bring it up. Even though Vitale has been around the game for a long time, I don't consider him an insider. Maybe UK fans were tweeting him about Diallo. There has to be some context to that tweet.

Yeah, Vitale is an insider............let's start worrying because he said so.....

Say something nice about UK and you are a genius. Say anything remotely negative and the "true fans" pile on and call you a hack, plus much worse.

Poor, poor Dickie. Like trying to have a reasonable discussion with a paranoid wife. He should know better by now.

After the Kanter deal, we know nothing is a given. I realize they are different situations and I am sure Cal was confident he will be ruled eligible or maybe he just took the chance, and I don't like Duke any better than anyone else on here but what Vitale said isn't all that extreme. We all know Dickie V loves the Duke program and that rubs us the wrong way and I am hoping he is just speculating, but until Skal is ruled eligible there will be the element of doubt there like it or not.

I agree. Until he plays that first game, I will be nervous too, given the NCAA's history of sticking it to UK. However, I am pretty optimistic, since Cal is. Sandy Bell is pretty diligent, and they hired two ex-NCAA compliance people to work under her. I am sure they did a lot of investigation on Skal, and would not have taken his commitment if there had been any doubts.

Just wishful thinking on his part. Complete phony just like the One in Durham

Dick doesn't know dick. Sounds like wishful thinking on his part. His shtick is so worn and tired with me I relish the day that he retires.

There is no possible way he knows anything about the situation other than what has been released by the media.
I'm not sure why so many college basketball analyst on ESPN and CBS hate UK. Without our fanbase the ratings would decrease significantly since we are by far the largest fanbase.

No!!! He want if he wants to keep his job or any other employee. Has anyone from ESPN said anything real bad about North Carolina 20+ years of cheating?

Only Colin Cowherd afaik. Perhaps not so coincidentally he no longer works for ESPN.

Don't think he meant it in a negative way. Just saying we do need him and we do. I like Dickie V minus his bias toward North Carolina schools. But he mentioned Kanter and knows the ncaa has it out for us.

But in reverse if he doesn't have any real info it's sad that he makes this statement. But if it's got legs then we know the NCAA is going to punish Kentucky for unc cheating. I can see that happening, lol.

DickieV is a helluva fisherman. Chicken littles swallow hook, line & sinker.

This from the man who went on and on about letting PJ play at UNC during a telecast and UNC promptly refuses to challenge his ineligibility. It must be bad when UNC won't seek reinstatement.

Have you ever

Would that be reason he is gone?

Would be a shame if Skal weren't a part of that matchup, but our game this fall is going to be close with him in the game or not.

Definitely in Duke's favor if Skal is somehow ruled ineligible. Skal should be good to go. Nothing indicates anything else otherwise thus far.

Duke only has the worst plumlee...... They will probably have Jeter play a lot, which means Lee is a great matchup against that post
We also have a Senior captain in Amile Jefferson, who completely shut down Frank Kaminsky in the title game. Considering Kaminsky was the NPOY and gave pretty much every team fits, I think other teams would be well advised not to overlook Jefferson's influence on the defensive end.

He's way over the hill and past his time. He should retire and focus on charity work. He's 2nd string at ESPN already. I haven't cared what he's thought or said in years. That said I will remain nervous about Skal's eligibility until we hear it from the NCAA. I don't care what Cal or anyone else says. I also think every early in the season with probably 3 freshmen starting, and a junior who will not have played in almost a year Duke will be the favorite in that game even if Skal plays.

I don't think anyone knows exactly what took place, but I just can't see the NCAA penalizing Skal with a whole season. There COULD be enough there that he's gotta sit out a few games. However, why don't people understand this is nothing like the Kanter situation? The Kanter situation wasn't subjective when it came to WHAT the wrongdoing was. The subjective part was how they treated that money changing hands.

Furthermore, the Kanter ruling, now that we know all the facts, was NOT a screw job to UK. Where many fans get frustrated is, there have been other foreign players in similar circumstances who broke the same rules, but played college ball. The determining factor in the Kanter situation was HOW MUCH money was taken, not that a rule was broken. Plenty of players break the rules. Festus Ezeil broke the rules at Vandy, he was suspended a few games. John Wall broke the rules in high school, he sat out a few games. These weren't as severe because the amount wasn't considered enough to warrant it.

I wish the NCAA would put the rules in context. Make it a dollar figure and pre-determine the punishment. If you receive more than "x amount", you're ineligible. Anything under, you're suspended for this many games. Instead, they take every case by itself and this means they have no governing document to check and balance their rulings.

Without skal , UK has no center. Fairly easy duke win if no skal
UK still has Poythress and Lee in the front court plus a stronger back court than Duke. Skal being out just makes it go from advantage UK to even since UK has the better guards but Duke has the better front court. Also in a team sport one player doesn't win or lose a game.
