New Paintings of Scoreboard?

Gee, that looks familiar...

On, on, U of K, we are right for the fight today,
Hold that ball and hit that line;
Ev'ry Wildcat star will shine;
We'll fight, fight, fight, for the blue and white
As we roll to that goal, Varsity,
And we'll kick, pass and run, 'till the battle is won,
And we'll bring home the victory.

120 Million and it looks like something circa 1984. Looks like Mitch picked the font with his eyes closed. If we had a huge TV like Miss St, 100,000 seats like Neyland, or a band that played over 50 decibels like Alabama, I could look past some of this but once again we have a chance to be a leader in the SEC in something, allbeit just stadium graphics, and we fail. Yes wins and losses are more important but when you renovate you have to be as up to date as possible. D-

But you are choosing to overlook everything else that they spent $110 million dollars on upgrades for in order to rant about the back of the scoreboard paint job?

I understand not being impressed nor a fan of it, but some of you people need to settle down and quit acting as if every small detail that isn't to your satisfaction requires outrage on your part.

Some people here b**** about the direction that the wind blows. Ungrateful.

Not my favorite, but that is my opinion. Would have liked them to just do a larger than before interlocking UK. It doesn't look like the colors of the graphic and the new paint even match so I'm going to hope this is a temporary fix.

I think the main problem people have with this is it's visual prominence on the exterior of the stadium. It's not like you can miss its display, I mean it's on largest flat surface on the most exposed part of the stadium. You're not going to please everyone, but this seems a little too bold for it's placement.

LOL at those that think Mitch picks the font for the stadium graphics. He is running an athletic department not a message board account.

Ever heard the phrase: you only get one chance to make a first impression. This is why it needs to be changed. I'm sorry I'm #ALLIN, but this is tacky and cheap looking

Yes, it just a video board and graphics. Its not going to change the outcome of a game. If you are going to spend $120M plus on an incredible renovation that CWS has undergone, you go all out on what is easily the most seen visual graphic of the entire stadium. You see this on Nicholasvile Road and you will see this driving up Alumni Drive, etc. Its more or less is the "stamp" of the stadium because its the most seen graphic and always is seen on national TV. If you build a $1M house are going to skimp and put up a cheap metal sided painted door or are you going to put up a really nice wood designed door that really stand out?

Why someone could not have had enough sense to just have a large UK branded LED lit sign made and install it on each board that can be seen easily by everyone and really pops for night games is beyond me. There is no way out of $120M that would have cost much or taken a lot of time to make and install.

Either way, the stadium is looking fantastic and the training facility will be even better. Kudos to UK on a job well done.

You must know by now that Mitch gets the blame for everything that people don't like about UK football and the credit goes to Rich Brooks, Tim Couch or Dr. Capalouto or _________ (fill in the blank) with everything they might like about UK football

The most important factor at the moment is how well the team performs inside the stadium.

Most certainly, the scoreboard paint schemes are of little consequence to the fan experience. The enjoyment of a practically new stadium where absolutely everything fans screamed for has been met with the best technology and comforts should be appreciated.

The 1% or less that populate these message boards are a microcosm of society prevalent in their displeasure of everything in their lives.

How about we thank the UK administration and donors who made the new CWS possible.

Good Lord people......it's awful and it's certainly alright to say as much. Let's thank the people who made the new CWS possible, you people complain about everything, some people are just never happy.......blah, blah, blah. It's garbage, it looks awful and you damn sure wouldn't see the likes of it stamped all over Rupp Arena! The biggest message it sends......we're putting lipstick on a pig! Do it right the first time, do it right down to every single last detail!!!!!

Awful? From the comments in this thread there is no consensus on that point.

First, I'll need to drive by there and see it in person to make an initial judgement. Many objects and people look much different in person than in pictures.

Second, it is obviously a vinyl applied applied banner so given the fact that other similar placed things like the UK logo are painted, it isn't likely meant as a permanent fixture. Or, perhaps it isn't finished and they will soon add more. Perhaps it will change with every game...

Wouldn't be "stamped all over Rupp Arena!"? You mean not like the red duct work, old almost turquoise color blue that used to don the arena floor? Or the 20 yr old video boards...or Big Bertha??? I take it you've never been in Rupp because I've heard plenty of complaints about the arena in the close to 40 years I've been attending games. Many more complaints than I've ever heard about CWS.

My wife and I were talking the same exact thing about the scoreboard on the way to Belterra this morn...it needs to look awesome and stand out

Not blaming anybody for anything and as a matter of fact I was thanking
MB fan day, but this is not good enough for what the rest of the stadium is going to look like. Should be a simple thing to be resolved. #ALLIN

For some strange reason I just have this feeling that everything will be fine by kickoff on 9-5. I'm not going to let the back of a scoreboard ruin my day. I am in disbelief over the sheer panic this seems to cause. #ALLINALLSO

One more time, I was there in person, it is aTemporary sign!!! What don't you all not understand about a temporary vinyl sign ??!!
