I bet they list him as questionable tonight on the injury report but ultimately sit him out Saturday and he plays tuesday

Back to Lamont Butler.... the guys a competitor and wants to win. He throws his body in to try and get points and give his team energy. He wants to bring the fire. He has Oweh heat without the physique. Trouble is he breaks himself up. In some form I think we need him to be facilitator rather than scorer.
This is my hope.
South Carolina is a must win. But they are going to try the Texas AM football strategy. We don’t need Butler re-injuring anything bc he’s being intentionally tackled

To present day Pope says he knows the assignment. Well his biggest assignment to date was to beat the Cal head to head and he failed miserably. I mean favored by double digits and we lose by double digits. This is to a coach that can’t even coach to top it all off.
Next if Pope says his job is to hang banners then he better hang banners. His expectations and my expectations both line up pretty even on this.
Our last coach first took over and said he was going to pass UCLA and he lied through his teeth and he never ever got close. He only won 1 championship with all that talent talk about a waste of a coach , waste of talent, and waste of all that money that UK paid that goon!
I mean all these coaches come here and sprout off at the mouth about doing this and that then they better be able to this and that. I mean sitting in 10th place in the SEC just isn’t going to be able to accomplish the goals needed to be accomplished at a school like UK. I like Pope I just think this job is too big for Pope!
Wasted life and naive comments man. UK has been participating in basketball for over a hundred years. We have 8 championships. I have been a fan forever and I so much want another. They do not come along that often. Rupp had four during a time that only a few schools emphasized basketball. The SEC was a football conference and most of our schools didn't actively push basketball until years after UK. Rupp was the difference in UK and other schools.
I am dedinitely giving Pope a chance. At the same time I am ashamed and embarrassed by so many of the posts I see on this board. About Pope, about a couple of our players and those still wanting to bash Cal. Grow the **** up.
Finally, Cal is a good coach. Recognized nation wide as such. Hall of Fame coach. You and a bunch of haters on this board saying otherwise doesn't change the fact.I agree wholeheartedly that It was time for him to go. He did. Good luck Cal. We move on. Cal isn’t a good coach they just hand out Hall of Fame just to anyone. A good coach with all the talent he has had would have more than one championship! They wouldn’t have lost to the St Peter’s, Oaklands, Richmond’s, Evansvilles , or Robert Morris’s of the world! They also wouldn’t have had the worst record in school history (9-16) on their resume either at a damn blue blood. I just can’t believe all these so called fans still take up for that jack@$$ but I shouldn’t figure anything less from the ones who have commented back those are all of Cal’s boys anyway!

Because his game preparation isn't that great, I am not real confident that he has a plan for much other than putting up 85+ points. If he brings someone on who specializes in teaching defense, I'll feel differently.
I'm giving Coach Pope time to get recruits and be able to have months to build a roster. The SEC this year is a hungry Grizzly smelling blood.
I believe he will get guys who will be able to dominate on both ends. UK fans are passionate and loyal. But they know basketball pretty well. This roster is good but not dominant.
South Carolina is not that bad of a team. They have played teams close. I think it will be another close game.
Not sure if serious? I struggle with some of his decision making from Oweh because he has the tendency to drive into a lot of traffic.
Now Butler has done that as well but he is a better ball handler.
Going they hold out Butler from this game unless absoulutely needed (say we are down 10 to 15 points at halftime).
