I for one am tired of our guys giving up so many damned offensive rebounds. I don’t know if they have it in them to change that. Need a monster to rebound. Our 7’r ain’t gonna do it.

We need some defenders and ball handlers too. TOs and bad D beat us today.
I was assured on this board that amari is an elite rebounder because metrics say so. So i find it weird how we almost always struggle giving up loads of offensive boards.
Also need some quickness. Need someone that can create their own shot and get to the rim
Pope will have to recruit a rebounder. No one is becoming one.
And rebounding translates all levels.
I mean real rebounding. Not getting 12 boards in high school because they are 6’10” playing against midgets.
You can see those guys that the ball “finds”.
There will be some of those in the portal too.

Robinson for his size is one of the worse which I think is effort based. On avg he's usually 3rd in mins and 6-8th in rebs. I mean look at nig O today grabbing 12, everyone else not great except Noah.
Defensive rebounding was actually pretty good. Vandy had 9 offensive rebounds on 42 opportunities. That’s only a 21% offensive rebound rate.
We lost because we forced only 5 turnovers and turned it over 17 times. Vandy had 12 more shots than us due to the turnover difference.

Rebounding is huge, but it wasn't THAT bad today. Rebounding: UK 40, Vandy 27.
Offensive Rebounding: UK 10, Vandy 7.
What killed us was Turnovers: Vandy 5, UK 17. Steals: Vandy 10, UK 4.

We need a high energy physical enforcer in general. Of the recruits we lost in the coaching shuffle, after seeing him play, I would have actually loved seeing Somto Cyril on this team. Somebody that can come in and play 15-20 minutes, throw some weight around and make it clear to teams that our whole roster isn’t soft. We have a lot of guys 6’6”+ who play much smaller than their sizes.
Tell ya what, this Roberts kid from Houston is what I’m talking about. Kid works his butt off and has great touch around the rim.

I think Williams/Garrison combined for 8 which was half our total
If we have turnovers you want them from your scorers trying to create.
This has to be fixed asap.
Because today’s basketball has a lot of 5-out, and switches, pulling your best rebounder and rim protector away from the basket. So EVERY team gives up more offensive rebounds.
But stats don’t lie in that Williams is a good rebounder. But he’s not going to get them all. But yeah he needs to do better than last game. And he’s much better at it than Garrison who is a bad rebounder.
