Think some people just don’t get the long term vision. Pope isn’t trying to build a fast food program. I can admit sometimes it is exhausting when you see people arguing talent vs continuity, when it’s both you need to win. That’s why the portal isn’t being rushed. Pope is going to make sure to get it right.

So OP, let me ask you a direct question…

What exactly is inaccurate in the first 3 questions of your post? Who is must get this year? Who did we miss on that's going to break our season?

Do you think Pope is going to find “superstars” who don’t enter the portal? What does that even mean? Do you think UK is staring at a successful season with who they have, and have brought in already? No, thats dumb but who has he tried to get (that you can prove) that he missed on? Do you think if people just ignore what is going on, Explain to me what, exactly is going on? Kids choosing other programs? Especially now that they can seek out the biggest, better deal tradition be damned (See BYU)? Been happening since the Naismith days, that a FF contender is just going to materialize in Lexington next season? Yes, I have faith that Pope, despite not consulting you or "people like you," is doing what needs to be done to make that happen.

People like myself are pointing out that the huge 600 pound gorilla in the room isn’t going away just because we pretend it’s not there.

Expectations that we get everyone because of the name on our chest is unrealistic these days but hey, you do you...

Can you imagine being a coach in the middle of it? You have to figure out if it is a fit. Budget the amount of money, meet the kid, see how he fits in your system and then determine if you get this kid, will it piss off one of your current players and have them leave. I am glad Pope embraces it and I trust him to play chess when others are playing checkers. Just remember, he didn't even start this process for this years team until after April 14. He got a three week head start.

After last seasons recruiting I imagine there will be more than one signed that leaves us scratching our heads. I truly think that Pope is trying more for the "team" not "me" formula, and there are just some players that can't fit with that philosophy.

I think if people can understand there is no “must-have” in a system like Pope’s they will save themselves some stress and heartache. There’s about 5-6 criteria he is looking for that may or may not be found in the flavor of the moment.

It's not the portals fault. Humans weren't made for the Internet. We didn't gather around the fire and let 40,000 people talk all at once where each one saw berries or a sabre tooth tiger. We haven't learned how to use these devices with all the world's information. Going to take a few generations. Either to figure how to consume less, or upgrade brains to better take in more.

I have intentionally stayed away from all that nonsense as well for the very reasons you mentioned. I don't check this board as often now just because I don't need more drama in my life. My job has been one drama after another.

Take a break from the board. Let it settle for a few weeks and than check to see who we have landed. I think we will be fine.
