Yeah I can promise you, stoops ain’t leaving for that dumpster fire, that would be a major downgrade
Neither is Sam Pittman.

They could maybe get fleck from Minnesota, but stoops and Pittman have established their cultures at Kentucky and Arkansas they ain’t leaving unless it’s a big time schoolNeither is Sam Pittman.
Just the same, I'd get busy on promised facility improvements if I were MB.

TL;DR?1. It's insular. When I first moved here many locals repeatedly told me I would make "plenty of friends in no time." The reality is that Lincoln is a city, but it's very tight-knit. Essentially, it's a big small town. Most residents have been here their entire lives or migrated from a small town in Nebraska. Therefore, their social circles largely consist of family and childhood friends. It's not impossible to make friends, but depending on your age, it can take months, years, or even decades. In fact, I met someone who lived there for 10 years and didn't have a single friend. Additionally, because of its geographic isolation, it doesn't see too many visitors from out of the state. If you're not here for school or have no connections, I honestly cannot recommend moving here.
2. There's a huge conformist culture. Lincoln is one of those cities where you'll encountered a lot of people who all do the same thing. Lacks a creative class. Even worse, cultural expectations to get married and have kids by your mid-20s makes life here pretty bland, but many locals love the laid-back style of living. Stepping out of the norm isn't really appreciated. Women I went on causal dates with had no life goals. And women told me they encountered the same thing from men as well. And good luck on striking conversations with people on in-depth topics, most conversations I had with people were about superficial matters like weather and farming (I don't farm).
3. No diversity. Sorry guys, I don't know your definition of diversity but it certain ain't Lincoln. It might be your frame of reference, but mine is places like New York City and Philadelphia. As a black male, I was frequently the only black person at places I frequented and some people clearly have difficulty holding a basic conversation with someone who doesn't look like them. Don't even get me started on the amount of racism I experienced. Most of it was covert, but I am still quite sadden by the number of people I encountered who openly stated anti-black rhetoric.
4. Bad dating scene. This is not the place to come as a single person approaching your late 20s. By their mid-20s, most folks here have already started families or were single parents. I met plenty of people who were 21 and 22 and already divorced. The available dating pool also wants to settle down early.
5. Most of social life revolves around drinking. I don't drink at all, but most of nightlife was just bars and a few dance clubs where I saw the same people every week. On top of that, almost everyone knew one another. And employees told me that how nightlife is in Lincoln, so it wasn't just my own observation. It would probably be better if there was a social scene outside of downtown, because I got tired of always being around college students. Granted that is more of an issue on O street, but even in the Haymarket that was the case.
6. There's really not a whole lot of diverse things to do. Please stop with the "it depends what you make out of it' or "you got to know the spots." There really isn't much to do, like at all. Even when I looked at the *Journal Star* for events, it listed the same stuff nearly every week. When I got there in the winter, I barely saw anybody outside for several months. I told people this and was repeatedly told "you came at the wrong time." Lastly, Lincoln isn't a very outdoorsy place outside of family gatherings. I was surprised by how empty the downtown became on weekends even when it was sunny outside.
7.. Minor stuff: Bad food (seriously, what is the issue?). Public transportation is poor (buses stop running after 9pm).
Baloney lists....they'll not get a Big 10 or SEC coach to go there. They will have to settle for the leftover of Big 12 or Pac 10 leftover teams...or back to Sunbelt, C-USA coaches. Everybody knows their toast in terms of talent to pull to Nebraska.

It’s Pete Thamel, he always tries to start crap that isn’t thereBaloney lists....they'll not get a Big 10 or SEC coach to go there. While he is an Illinois native I could see Bielema being interested. It’s not like he’s mopping up on the recruiting trail in Champaign. And while Nebraska has its challenges I think it still has a higher potential ceiling than Illinois.Baloney lists....they'll not get a Big 10 or SEC coach to go there. You’re drunkStoops has accepted
Why on Gods beautiful green Earth would ANYONE in the SEC leave for that job. Especially Pittman or Stoops.
“Yes. You too can inherit a dumpster fire with unrealistic expectations and absolutely little recruiting resources or NIL draws. Compete head to head with the likes of Texas and OU has you try to compare towns like Austin with a rich cultural nightlife to Lincoln, NE.”
No thanks.
Seriously. Just look at the negatives listed by a redditor that lives there: any of these sound remotely appealing to a college kid?
TL;DR?
Drinking is about it. But even that gets old after awhile when it’s the same people every weekend.
Once again, come to Nebraska. We have corn and the most awful winter weather imaginable.
I spent a month one week in Lincoln.
I don't see a Stoops future for Neb but it could have a ripple effect. Brad White will get a HC job sooner rather than later, I can see Neb hiring a G5 and the G5 going after White. The only jobs I see stoops even considering are the top of the top jobs, Nebraska is not anywhere close to that
Not sure I could pick them out on an unmarked map.Honestly I frequently forget nebraska exists as a state.
Neither is Sam Pittman.
I know it's a bad loss, but that's an emotional firing. It never helps your program to fire the head coach before the end of the season. No one will be as motivated more as Frost would be.While he is an Illinois native I could see Bielema being interested. It’s not like he’s mopping up on the recruiting trail in Champaign. So thamel trying to make stuff upNU website fanbase is calling for Bob Stoops (or Urban Meyer) and not much cornhusker mention of Mark Stoops.
Appears all of the Mark Stoops talk appears to be coming from sports media and not Lincoln.
GBB!
Sometimes I wonder if this is the agents floating interest, or if this is somebody pulling names out of their butt. I don't know how they make these lists day of a firing.Sam has said he is working his last job, if it's 10 more years and he retires or he is fired tomorrow. Not taking another job. His plan has always been to retire in Arkansas, getting the head coaching job just came alone
Not emotion, but forward thinking. Firing after Ireland would be emotional. Losing to Georgia Southern at home was the final proof.I know it's a bad loss, but that's an emotional firing.
