Nearly guaranteed now, Brock will transfer out this spring.

I'm afraid Cutter will transfer.....during the off-season open period there will be several SEC coaches contacting him and offering him $$$$ and telling him you don't want to play in Stoopid's 1980 offense and lose all the time, when you can come play for us and play for championships. Auburn, Ole Miss and a few others will be QB shopping. They see Boley's potential
That’s a pretty lofty claim that sec schools already see his potential and will be offering big money for him. What are you basing this on?

First off, I didn't say NIL was ALL a joke. I said NIL " obligations" for players are a joke.

There could be a mutual parting of ways, but, again, where would he go??

Have you seen a worse QB at ANY level this year??

I haven't. And I watch a lot of FB.

And if CMS committed the starting QB job for 2 years with a 7 figure NIL deal to BVG, do you think CMS would go back on that commitment??

And if he did renege, do you think BVG and his dad would just accept that and transfer out??
the staff has to see what everyone else saw all year.

that is Calipari level coaching malpractice.

Stoops doubled down on a bad year by not committing to what he saw in practice

Whether he plays or not will be up to CMS AND whatever the commitment was made to get him here. Was probably promised the starting QB job for 2 years.
I have not seen any NIL contract but the terms are likely similar to this:
1. UK pays X dollars per season for Y seasons.
2. Player must fulfill certain academic requirements and stay out of trouble.
3. If player leaves voluntarily after a season, he receives no money for future seasons.
Doubtful that any such contract would include a guarantee of a starting position irrespective of actual performance. One, that term would be against public policy and void. Two, it would be in conflict with the existing contract of the head coach to exercise his best efforts to win games for UK.

Brock can't be forced out early (which is OK because we need an experienced backup in the QB room) but he can choose to leave early (and terminate UK's payment obligation) if he is not satisfied with a backup role.

If he wants to stay due to the NIL contract then he can be Cutter's backup or 3rd-4th string.

He has no business on an SEC team.

The players can’t sign contracts. It’s all a wink wink nudge nudge deal. Reading the wiring on the wall, BVG may decide is best to go elsewhere.
Unless the player is not yet 18 years of age and lacks the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract, this statement is not accurate. Every other active NIL deal in the country is evidenced by a written agreement between the student athlete and the institution.

How are you going to pay the backup QB 7 figures while your starter is getting peanuts in comparison??

Cutter, as a freshman, is already better. It isn't even close. If we can get him an OL, there's no telling what he's capable of.
NO offense to Brock but I guess there was a reason he rode the bench at UGA, he is too quick to jump out of the pocket and run when there are guys down field open and his accuracy is not that great when he does throw.

You do realize some business is putting up those NIL dollars to actually have that player on the field to hopefully get some kind of return on their investment, right???

The commitment to play may be as much for the donor ( booster) as it is to the player getting the NIL dollars.

Staff wanted to, and did, save Cutter's RS. I think that was a good part of why they stuck with Brock & Gavin - thinking one could step up. Now why you want to save a RS in this age I don't see/know.

Probably too early to call it either way.

We're not quite into wacky season just yet. Next will kick it off via a lot of games that could really go either way and send things into a tizzy in terms of coaching and staff changes which inevitably affect portal and where players go.

That's just the kickoff of wacky season though. Post season and how that goes or doesn't go will also change a lot of scenery.

I'm sure I'm in the minority but, assuming his injured shoulder is 100%, I believe 99% of Brock's misfortunes originate between his ears. He's got physical ability, enough to be an effective QB. He just doesn't process info quickly enough (right now, anyway) and trust that his read/instincts are correct, so he plays very hesitantly. For good reason, doesn't trust his OL so rarely makes it to the 2nd or 3rd progression. Stares down his primary way too often, again, a mental thing, not physical. If the primary option is not immediately open, he pulls it down and runs, typically, into the rush rather than away from it. Waits too long to throw to an open receiver, not trusting what he's seeing. All of these problems should be able to be coached out of him. I don't think he's a hopeless case and I believe he's redeemable with the proper mental coaching, film study, etc.

For now, Boley looks more poised, reads the defense quicker which results in balls coming out faster, etc. Now, he took a couple of really bad sacks Saturday, avoided one where he kept fading back and back and back, missed a couple of RPO reads, etc. But, he stood in the pocket, more times than not threw to the correct receiver on time, maintained his eyes down the field even when scrambling, etc. He gives us the best chance to win Saturday and should start. No more QB merry go round. Put him in there and let him do his thing. If he gets banged up, then Brock needs to be ready.

I’m saying they can’t sign contracts to play football or explicit promises of playing time.

If UK is done with Brock, I’m sure there’s language in the NIL agreement that’s like “if players marketability drops unexpectedly,” blah blah I’m sure they can get out of it

That or he can be a back up like he was at GA. He's been one of the most disappointing players I've seen at UK. Just curious, was the high school competition he was playing against terrible? Like comparable to 1a competition in KY? I just don't know how you watch that and think 5 stars.
No he paid at a good level and has the physical talent in every way to get the attention he did coming out, but QB is a real hard position to play at a new level and to me Brock just didnt have that demeanor to make it work. For some reason he seemed to play nervous and jittery where Boley is the opposite. Some would say "I'd be jittery too with that Oline" and thats true, but here's how that played out in real game action.

Take the last game and go back and watch every pass from each of these two.

On almost all of Brocks throws he holds the ball out of fear to make the wrong throw, then by throwing late has to throw it harder and on a line to try and fit them in there late. Its usually too late or on the tight end release throws it has no touch on it and no way to drop it in over the LBs.

On the other hand Cutter sees it and releases it much quicker and by doing that can float passes with touch into the WR better.

If you've every tried to do anything in sports wired up and jittery vs. calm and relaxed you know how this plays out especially throwing or shooting a ball. Cutter just has that over Brock. I thought with time Brock would ease out of that and relax but he never did. He hustles and plays hard and fight his butt off, but you just cant play the QB position nervous or scared.

It was Georgia’s lowest classification, single A.
Was it even that? I thought he played Private School Class A. Isn't that a thing in Georgia? They have a lot more private Christian schools... made segregation possible even after Brown v Board. Still helps that they get to pick and choose when to waive tuition... for athletes.

Hopefully we were not dumb enough to offer a stupid deal to get BVG based on back up minutes in blow outs against us
He simply is the product of being a Coaches son playing @ 1A level and having opportunities in camps & such
Great kid just doesn’t have the pocket presence quickness vision necessary to be a SEC QB

To be fair, he was a very coveted QB out of high school. He was verbal to Oklahoma and Lincoln Riley, ultimately choosing Georgia.

Has anyone considered the fact that Brock may just be hurt, and that was the determining factor in starting Cutter Saturday.

Because that's what I've heard. That he hurt his shoulder against TN and it affected his ability to throw. They gave it a go against Texas but it was no good.

If so, a lot of people, including Matt Jones may be jumping the gun on this he's out of here because he's not starting and all that talk.

Yes but, its hard to watch the clip from Van Hiles and conclude the problem is simply physical.

The competition he played against was small private school division. His leading receiver was about 5'5".

I knew he had the little hitch in his release, but he never looked bad when he played. No doubt he has been a disappointment, but he was going to bave t tough time living up to expectations from being a formef 5*.

That was an issue with him, he also entered UGA with a partial torn ACL that he and his family decided it didn't need repair. I feel comfortable saying those things now. When he first arrived everyone was so excited if I sa I d anything like that it would have been called something besides the truth.
