NBA Finals Game 2

This is a great point. Wisconsin plays without fouling too, and they also have a short bench.

Question: do they really play without fouling, or do the refs give them the benefit of the doubt, knowing that they have a short bench? Knowing that Ryan will growl at them every time the whistle blows?
Are you blaming our loss vs. Wisconsin on the refs?

I'm saying Wisconsin gets away with a lot of bumping. UL does too.

It's a smart strategy if you can get away with it. I just don't like it.

I went to one UK game this year - home vs. Missouri. The thing that impressed me most was the way we played position defense without fouling. It can be done.

Good god. The coaches are going to growl at the refs no matter what they are calling. Some teams and players are smarter about how they foul and are able to get away with it. Some guys are dumb and just grab hold of people and get busted for it.

Listen. Refs call what they want to call. Sticking your hip out to bump a cutter and disrupt the timing of an offense is just as much of a foul as grabbing his jersey. They get away with what the refs allow them to get away with.

I left, but I guess I'll come back if you are going to toss around cheap insults.

Free throws and fouls are a snap shot. Not trying to do in depth analysis here, just a quick counter to the perception that somehow GS was getting away with murder all night.

Golden St. was in foul trouble. Cleveland was not. Both teams play physically.

IMO, the calls favored Cleveland early and GS late.

People are all twisted up like we are talking about the UK/Wisconsin game. I am an impartial observer, offering my thoughts.

And oh by the way, I don't really care what the league says. They missed about 100 calls, both ways. They always do.

I see your point, but I don't think just pointing at fouls called and FTAs does anything. If GS was fouling more, that is the expected outcome, and that does not mean that the refs did not miss more calls on GS. As you point out elsewhere, it's what UL does. Sometimes they are in foul trouble, but the advantages they get from all the contact are rarely outweighed by the calls against them, in large part because the refs won't call everything. Both teams were physical in this game, but it seemed to me that GS was like a college team. Much more physical.

Agree with you on the NBA missed calls, was just making the point that the two they say they missed either didn't impact the game or did so in favor of the losing team. In other words, no harm done. How convenient for the NBA.

Yeah, my perception was that it was officiated like a typical game 2. The team behind in the series got the benefit of the whistle early. Once the game shifted in Cleveland's favor, the calls moved more toward GS.

More than likely, Cleveland will get a decent whistle in game 3. If they manage to win tonight, look for GS to be marched to the line Thursday (or vice versa). Just the way it goes.

Lol, I love that the NBA just came out and said "Yep, we uh.. kinda blew 4 calls in OT".

So, now what? Are we going to do something about this? Is the NBA going to take action? Maybe some sort review system or penalty for Refs for blatantly bad calls?

BOTH teams are getting away with stuff like that. If you only see one team doing it then that's only because that's the way you want to see it.

If Cleveland get those calls at home like GS did LBJ will give Cleveland a title.

Absolutely. Now in addition to that Lebron has to keep scoring a ridiculous amount of points and rebounding and assisting like he has...but yeah, I'm not as high on GS retaking the iniative in this series as some are apparently. Watching ESPN most still feel they are going to take control and may win one or both in Cleveland due to the Cavs and Lebron's fatigue of having to carry them. I don't buy that nonsense, as game 2 would have been the game for that to happen.

If GS loses tonight they are in big trouble. This is not a Memphis type team they are playing as Lebron is just that good. That said, all GS has to do is rebound and shoot like normal and they could do what many think they will do. I am just not sure if I see it. Jump shooting teams are so hot and cold, and usually shoot better at home. Curry will be better tonight but he will have to be a lot better.

What the crap are you talking about? Read through my posts and show me where I said only one team was doing it.

There was another poster who contended that the officiating was 100% in favor of GS and you had to be biased to think otherwise.
