My original comment on our Freshmen was wrong, I stand corrected

Perry will be a solid role player the next three years. I have to disagree about Noah and Chandler. I think both of them by there Junior years will be all SEC caliber, especially Chandler, he has major upside. They were just regular freshman this year with growing pains.

None of our players are SEC quality outside of a few. Pope did a good job with what he had, but high school recruiting a full year in hasn't been outstanding. Got fortunate with a few decent rated in state kids, but not leading for any of the stud players even though we have top 5 NIL and name recognition. We will have to tear it up in the portal to get good. Somehow Louisville went from terrible to good with a coach and the portal.
What are you taking about dude. Kentucky was a top 10 team healthy. Kentucky will be undefeated against teams playing in the SEC tournament championship. Our top recruit get went to UNC. Hubert Davis. It was 100 percent a money thing.

Miller was big and athletic. None of these freshman have the athleticism or quickness to play at a high level.
Chandler does... He is still knocking off 2y mission rust... If we can keep him... By his junior year he will be good... Noah has a chance to be good.. Perry is just to small.. Might work OK once the system is fully in place and we can run it... But that's going to take 2 more years to really see.

We are used to top notch freshman from Calipari era. Pope come onboard after recruiting for top freshman was done. He could not get anyone great , the only player left was the guy that went to UConn.

Next year he got some higher ranked Kentucky boys. So that should be an upgrade. Once Pop can get a top 5 player outside of Kentucky and make a run in NCAA we will be “sexy “ again for top freshman. We need to be patient and let Pop develop his brand and get some results and few boys in nba.

Same thing about our current freshman, they have certain skills and will get better every year. Isn’t that what we wanted , a player development and program continuity?

Philon and Fears are the exact type of guys everyone complained about for the last decade and then wished for Perry/Noah/Chandler type longer term projects.

So what do people really want?
Not everyone and definitely not I. Fears is exactly the type you need to win in the SEC. I want players that can play in this league and don’t care if they stay a year or four, just win

This! You cannot teach speed. You're born with it or you're not. Perry and Noah just are not athletic enough to play in the SEC. It's as simple as that.
you cant teach shooting either and maybe if UK had a PG puts guy in positions to score. I know Noah can shot under pressure and so can the other freshman. And its not speed, its quickness.

lol. The SEC hasn’t won a championship since we did in 2012. Since then, the Big East has had 5, Big 12 has 2, ACC has 3, & Conference USA had 1 (vacated). Those conferences (and some of those teams) had “unathletic guys”. Meanwhile, we had athletes upon athletes with nothing to show for it.

Had hopes for Perry and Noah but was always skeptical about Chandler. But when you look at other Freshmen like Philon and Fears there is really no comparison.
Chandler hasn’t played for two yrs. He’s got more upside than the other two, but I’m not sure if he can honestly recover from two yrs off. The other two will do well to be legit contributors their last two yrs. I hope they are, but I’ve said it a bunch and I’ll say it again. None of the three can be main pieces next season. Just like BG can’t be THE DUDE in the post. Just like OO can’t be our best player. If any of those statements are true, we are back to this 10 loss Tubby type season.

It's not.
Travis Ford wasn't.
John Pelphrey wasn't.
Dakari Johnson wasn't.
Then they were.
Those dudes played in an entirely different SEC than the one you see today. To not understand that is a little confusing. I’ll be honest, Travis Ford wouldn’t survive today. Not in the SEC we now know. And Pel, as much as I loved him and that team, probably wouldn’t have finished 10-8 in the league. The two eras just aren’t comparable.

The unprovable argument said with absolute certainty doesn't make it fact.
You don't know with certainty any of the above.
That I understand.
They wouldn't finish 10-8. Your belief is fine, doesn't make it fact.
Travis wouldn't survive. I think he would.
If eras aren't comparable, why is everyone so sure MJ is the goat?

I wasn't expecting much at all from any of them. They've played as much as they had out of necessity.

My hope then and even now is that Perry, Noah, and Chandler will be productive in subsequent seasons.
This seems to me an imminently realistic hope for Perry, Noah, and Chandler.

They can shoot threes ( not tonight) when wide open but they play zero defense and turn the ball over when under pressure. I hate to see it and say it. They will or should be at the end of the bench with future recruits coach Pope brings in.
Perry will be a very good College basketball player in the coming years. I'd say Chandler and Noah will be good also. They've been put in a position they never should have been in. Of course Pope will recruit players that will start over them but I believe Perry will be a integral piece to next years team. Probably 10-12 mins. a game.

You're a die hard Cal fan. His system does not work. I wonder if you'll ever admit that.
Calipari is in Arkansas so as much as you still bring his name up maybe you should seek that board out. I love UK always have. Like I have said before, I’ll support whoever is coaching UK till they are not.
Just because someone has a different opinion than you doesn’t make them a Calipari supporter.

Ok, perhaps you were simply the last holdout.

If you can watch the SEC from then and watch the SEC now, and think the eras are comparable. Cool. MJ can be compared across eras because he was the best his era had ever seen. Travis Ford and John Pelphrey, respectively, were not even close to that. And now, the league will get 12-14 teams in the tournament. It’s just much, much deeper and insanely better than it ever has been. That part can’t be argued. You can argue that a couple of guys that had nice roles, not superstars by any stretch, could somehow produce that same level of contribution today if you want. I’ll ask this…Who do you see in today’s SEC that reminds you of Ford or Pel?

Blue Cain and Tyler Nickel are similar stature to Magic Pelphrey with good years. (Neither with numbers as good as Pel)
Ziegler is similar stature to Ford with a successful year. 31% from 3 compared to 50 for TF.
Yeah they would be fine.

I am amazed that it took you this long to figure it out. We have had walk on players as good as our freshmen class. Unlike you, I am not certain they can shoot at the collegian level. They certainly haven't given any reason to think otherwise.

You do realize there is significantly more to a comparison than stature, correct? Then again, you just compared Travis Ford to Ziegler. I’m wasting my time here. You win. I’m crying uncle.

Yeah zig can't shoot well enough to compare those two.
And frankly pel is better than.those hosers.
I guess they could play today.

NO....just because I KNOW the game of basketball and am not swayed because they are WHITE KY kids
Yeah. One of those “white” KY kids is probably our 2nd best rebounder and most physical players on the team but he won’t develop or improve because you “KNOW” the game. 😂
