Don’t care for “ physicality” of the game

Football is my numero uno sport, but I agree basketball needs to be more about finesse and spacing. The bloody fouls and hacking are ridiculous. It can be a great game, but it's gotten stupid. Hell go play football if you want to hack other players. Leave it out of basketball.
I think something has to change. Basically you can't guard people anymore if you expect to stay healthy......
Every time I see an uncontested layup go through the hoop and our guys let it happen, you know, that they know, that the refs would just call a foul and possibly get injured for contesting a layup.

I went to the summer league in Las Vegas for several years. Sat close in the Cox Pavilion which was basically a high school gym. Was amazed how small the paint area looked with all these really large guys trying find just a small space. Incredible how really good they were with interior passing in such a small space. And, obviously how rugged it was. Of the years I was there, I was most impressed with Bradley Beal.

I had thought the 3 point shot (long term) would allow more traditional play: instead, it has eliminated mid-range quality shooting. Either lower a shoulder straight to the basket, or kick out to the three point range.
But Pope is well positioned for this style of basketball. He can likely get the top Morman kid(s) in the nation (who don’t go to BYU), and have otherwise strong classes.
I admire the job he has done with a Hellatious-injury-prone-team.

But you can’t absolutely rule out a closely called game (or two) in tourney play where refs take exception to “off tackle” running plays straight to the basket.
Ultimately, to battle this style of basketball, he who brings numbers, has an inherent advantage . . . as Pope had the first third of the season, dominating Top 15 opponents.
His (and his team’s) ability to battle through multiple injuries and gut out the upsets of the last third of the season defined his success, and held a Third Seed.
And how many seasons has it been since we won our first SEC tourney game, and our first NCAA tourney game?
