Music City Bowl vs Iowa

The only angle I don't like is the Iowa rematch. Everything else is as good as we could hope. It's a city that UK fans love and will be a huge draw considering it's new years eve.

Why wouldn't a bowl game get priority over a basketball game vs the worst team on our schedule? Ya I'd like to watch both too, but that's a minor inconvenience imo

We beat Florida and they go to Vegas. We beat Missouri and they go to Florida. We beat Miss St and they also go to Florida. We get stuck going to one of the northern most bowls that we've been to numerous times and have a rematch against Iowa from last year's bowl game. We also play on the same day as our rivalry game in a sport we care about. Thanks SEC.
This is what you get when you lose to Vandy......at home.

CMS and UK football lost a lot of hard earned credibility with that inexcusable loss.

Will be a long hard road to get that back in the SEC.

Even though UL sucks, I will watch the bball game and switch over after. There is just something fun in beating the shit out of UL. Even when they are down. Plus, a Music City Bowl, with a rematch with Iowa minus Will Levis, just don't excite me.

The Music City Bowl is a great experience and a good game. Went vs Northwestern - chilly, tough loss but fun. The teams, players and fans and Nashville deserved better. I would go for a fresh matchup but UK gains little from a rematch. It is the one match up I would not fault Levis from skipping. YE in Nashville is interesting but so is watching in TV.
That's the game Bennie Snell got ejected from early in the game by an official for being touched by Snell after the official tried to help him up. A one point loss when Kentucky went for two to win the game in regulation.

It's another chance to watch the team play. Did not want to go to Memphis. This may be doable.

Iowa will have a chip on their shoulder though. Wonder if we can match that? Wonder also if we'll have enough players to fill out a roster for the game.

This is literally a W.T.F. type moment. We play better IN FLORIDA THAN FLORIDA, and we get shafted 2x. I get MSU. They finished with a better record. But what in the ever luvin fk did we do to get hosed like this?

The Vegas Bowl is on December 17. There is no way we wanted that. As a fan, I'd have personally preferred it, but there's no way the coaches would.

Rucker said 2nd string QB transfered.
Alex Padilla, the #2 guy for Iowa who played in only 2 games all year, has already entered the portal as a grad transfer. Honestly, he was absolutely no better when he got to play than was Petras.

I'd expected Padilla goes low DI or maybe the sub division. He's just not a DI QB talent.

The winner of this game gets to hire a new offensive coordinator from outside the organization, the loser is required to promote from within.
That's definitely another thing we have in common as programs: You couldn't stand your OC (well youve already gotten rid of yours) and most Iowans want to get rid of ours.

Good luck to you all. I definitely think Iowa fans are underwhelmed by the rematch. I think we would've preferred Ole Miss. Nashville is a trip a lot of Iowa fans have wanted though. Should have happened in 2020 had Missouri not pulled their shenanigans.

It's nothing personal, I agree. Both fan bases are underwhelmed.

I was hoping for a pac or big 12 team. ACC and Big 10 teams are meh at this point. I'm sure both sides agree.

He went out in the 1st quarter of the last game of the year against Nebraska. Shoulder injury that today Kirk Ferentz announced would need surgery.

Wow. That fkn sucks the worst. Sorry to hear that for him. Always want to play the best against the best.

Is this on the same time as the UK Men’s basketball game vs. Louisville?

Yeah. I wasn't going to tune in to basketball until after the bowl game anyway, so this works for me. I'll binge the best of punkin pounding season leading up to the game after UL once the MCB is over. Should be a quick review. Can't have that many highlights

Why did Barnhart think our fans would want this. Bad enough they have extra motivation after last year, of course they want it. So he puts us at a disadvantage because of that. Then the basketball game. Could he have accepted anything worse???

A guy who works in management for me is from Iowa.
His reaction:
"You're kidding, right? No way we play 2 years in a row."
