Mouhamed Dioubate commits to UK!

Mo D is giving me Oscar vibes. I remember when we got Oscar and I felt optimistic but I had no idea the juggernaut he was going to become.

Uk fans have gotten soft. Whether it’s the Father Mitch AD or just the Cal decline, Cats fans have settled. Gotta play hard ball and get the best. Cats need to be the program where 2nd tier guys are leaving because better players are replacing them. Now more than ever college bball is a game for sharks.

I have news, the fans don't play the games, construct rosters, or coach games. I bet Houston has really cleaned up in the portal the last few years .... oh wait, their portal ranking was like 100 last year and 30 the year before that. I bet they've gotten a ton of elite burger boys the last few years to build this roster ..... oh no, wrong again. There is more than one way to skin a cat. There is a reason you aren't the coach and Pope is. I think i'll trust the guy who built a roster in 3 weeks with a late start and had us competing with (and beating) teams that made the final four.

I don’t disagree I’m just looking at the roster seems we have more role players from other teams to add to role players we already have.
Brea and Robinson were both 6th men (non starters) before coming to UK. Both players ended up being huge part of our offense.

I’m quickly learning to trust Pope regardless of a player did the previous year.

Guys plural? Tulane, Bama, and Pitt?
If UK had 3-4 real dudes, real difference makers, then a guy like this might make sense. But right now UK doesn’t have those guys.

Programs like Bama understand you need 3-4 real guys. Everyone else is interchangeable.

I'm not gonna be soft on expectations. And hope fellow fans react the same. Get behind this program. And expect the very best.

Bama isn’t willing to pay. He’s dispensable.

Red flags when UK is tajijgb2nd level guys from programs they are trying to reach.
Bama was one of the deepest teams so some Second level guys are pretty damn good, you're theory kinda dumb

I stand my ground on this situation. Ain't nobody trolling here in this camp. It's simple optimistic approach. But since it's not optimism in favor of pope! It's all hog wash by me. Who says I'm not optimistic about Pope. I am on the fence. That's ok right?

I like it. Big physical forward with tons of SEC experience. Excellent move.
I know he’s not really a shooter, I just want him to be a poor man’s MKG! A guy that brings physicality, rebounding, dunking on peoples heads! We need toughness!

I hope this isn't about me, but if it is, I'm flattered. I already commented by opinion on this thread, so you'll need to search the pages for it. I'll give you a quick summary though since you are a fan. I stated that I thought he was a great depth piece, which seems to me that Pope will play him at the 4 quite a bit. I also noted that we shouldn't sell ourselves short now, and we need to now get Pierre and Alvaro to finish the roster. This would catapult us from being good, to GREAT, and give us a real shot at a championship.
It is NOT about you.

I want another title as much as anyone. But to expect us to be playing for the natty tonight was far-fetched, at best. We have a new coach who had to to recruit an entire team out of a picked over transfer portal. We over-achieved far more than we under-achieved. In a few years I hope we are in the title game, but at the end of the day we have only won eight national titles in however many decades the NCAA tourney has been played, so it’s not like winning one, or even getting to a final four, is a common thing for anyone.
I didn't expect us to get their tonight but if our team had stayed healthy all season I think it would have been possible.

How I feel about this may depend on how we plan to finish out the roster. If the plan is for Dioubate to split time at the 4, then I love it. He’ll be a “glue guy” for us and add some much needed rebounding on both ends of the floor.

I like it a little less if it means that we’re passing on Alvaro and giving him 25-30 minutes per game. He’s a bit of tweener whose one standout trait is that he’s always giving 120%. I think he may be better suited as an energy guy in the 6th-7th man role, and I’m not entirely sure that his numbers will increase quite as much as the rate states suggest they would if he gets a greatly expanded role.

Curious, anyone know where they ranked him in the portal? I checked 247 and another site and he's nowhere to be found. I stopped looking good after 100 figuring he's way up there, at least 30s. All are other guys are ranked, but it's like they left him off???
On3 ranks Dioubate as the 37th-best prospect (and 5th-best small forward) to enter his name into the portal so far this offseason. In 16 minutes per game as a sophomore this past season, the New York native averaged 7.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists while shooting 61.7 percent from the field, 46.2 percent from three (12-26 overall), and 60.9 percent from the free throw line.
