Most disappointed you have ever left CWS

This past Saturday game does not even rank in the Top 10. KY competed with UF and had a shot to win on the last drive. Sucks they lost, but they were in it to win it.

I have seen so many beatings in CWS that I cannot even form a Top 5 list.

Doesn't it suck that we even have a Top 10?

First visit was in the 50's. Bob Hardy was the option QB and with little time on the clock he ran the ball about 6 straight times using T. O. s Scored on the last play or so I thought. We got our coat's on and started home. Artie Davis (All-Sec back). took the kickoff to the house as we headed for the exits. Our joy turned to sorrow and a long ride home in a very quiet car. Deja Vu sits on UK's shoulders.
It balances out when you factor in basketball, as I had my coat on and was heading for the exits when Hatton hit the 50 footer to tie the game. We won in OT.

A complete team laydown. They ran thru us like we were swiss cheese. I left at halftime

That is the only game I left early, I stuck around till about 3 minutes left in the 4th. That game was disappointing on so many different levels.

ONE of Mine was the Arkansas game where we actually came back to win in '08 (?). I was doing the math all third quarter and realized the season was all but done so early, Done. So I bailed early and listened to the Hartline comeback in the parking lot along with a friend, who i was not sitting with, and he bailed also. First time leaving early and i regret it to this day. UGH!

It's amazing that we all are still here, lol. But we are UK fans.

That was one of my favorite games of all time, I swear there couldn't have been 12,000 of us left in the 4th quarter. Brooks and players commented after the game that us that stayed made the more noise than a sellout crowd would make. Jumping up and down on empty bleachers makes a ton of noise. I seriously had to run over to the other seating section to give someone a high five after the game winning touchdown. lol Good times.

No doubt, you have to have thick skin and be a glutton for punishment to be a UK football fan. lol But times they are a changing.

'07 Mississippi State game, the team didn't show up at all and they kicked our tails handily. We were ranked 14th at the time if I remember correctly.
That's definitely an overlooked one. We would have probably made the Peach Bowl instead of the Music City Bowl had we won it. There was just no reason for them to lose that day.

If the answer wasn't restricted to CWS and it would be any UK game it would be the 1993 Peach Bowl. Marty Moore intercepting the pass that would have ended the game and fumbled returning it instead of just falling down. He actually went on to have a very nice NFL career. I know he won at least one Super Bowl win.

Along the lines of the worst quarterback thread. What game did you actually attend and leave the most disappointed?

would have to be either the 7 OT Arkansas loss or the loss we took against Florida at Commonwealth when Zook was coach where we were leading 21-3 in the 4th quarter.

Unfortunately, I don't leave, I sit through it all to the sometimes bitter end... now if the title was "most disappointed game that you DIDN'T leave CWS" I could post some comments - lol...
Been a long courtship...
Go Cats!

You live at CWS? Just kidding. I didn't mean games that you left early, I just meant the most disappointed you were when you left after the game.

Not trying to be harsh here, but this thread is crap and I would prefer it be deleted. Wallowing in this misery is one reason why turning this around has been so damned hard.

I'm willing to bet that Stoops and crew would shake their heads at this - we lost a friggin' game to an SEC foe by 5 points. We're 2-1 with lots of football left and should not forever be pondering the losses.

Frankly, this is what losers do.

60 posts and you think it should be deleted. I'm willing to bet Stoops doesn't read this. Get over yourself.

Saturdays game doesnt even come close to worst soul-crushing defeats at Commonwealth. It's probably not even Top 10 in this century. We lost to a team that, despite its recent struggles, still had more talent, provided you believe in the various recruiting services. We're more talented than we were, but we will never out-talent Florida.

Florida 93 (Wuerffel to Doering), Florida 07 (we were ranked #7), Florida 03 (as infuriating of a loss I have ever seen), Florida 80 (Cris Collinsworth caught the winning TD)..all of these were worse than Saturday.

I was disappointed I left before the end of the 2014 South Carolina game.

They only beat us 65-0 the next year! Progress!!
Very true. Lots of younger folks who do not have a clue just how bad this program has been in the past (mid 90's with Curry were beyond horrible). Also, do not realize just how good UF was back then (Spurrier was an innovative offensive genius) and how the SEC East dominated this conference. Times have changed dramatically and KY is getting much better. I think in time the East will come to the top again and hopefully KY is somewhere in the conversation.

As an outsider (rival) it was during the kragthorpe years, 5 minutes left with the lead, UK punts and Trent Guy muffs the catch and UK recovers and UK eventually scored the winning td. At the time it stung, but looking back it aided Kragthorpes release which worked out to be a good loss.

I think you should get over yourself - wallowing in this "we're so cursed and put-upon by the football gods" crap. Hell, someone who appears to not even be a fan of UK started a thread about the memorable wins by UK.

You might also consider how your post actually proves my point - and also why Stoops probably doesn't read this board, among other more important reasons.

Focus on now. Look to the future. Focus on the next game. The next play. Think about what can be done make the program better and help win games. Stop thinking like a loser.

The only game I ever left early was The Ohio game, after they hit the quick hitter that went for a TD, I got up and left.

The most disappointed I ever was leaving was probably the last Curry Alabama team in 1988 coming in and throwing a bootleg pass for a TD with about 8 seconds left to win the game.

Go Cats!

I thought Florida game was at the Swamp. That was a difficult loss. So was Florida, 93. UK picked of Florida like 5 times, and still go beat on last play of game. (I was standing behind the endzone fence, yelling for someone to cover the receiver.

Tennessee 3OT (2008?) loss, had them beat with a FG end of game. missed (or blocked).

Bluegrass Miracle. On the field for it. Close second was when Lorenzen lost to Florida by throwing the ball behind his back. That one hurt really bad too...

So many games to pick from. It's hard to go with just one LOL.

For me, probably Louisville 2005. Last week isn't far behind though.

GBB!!!

> UK driving for winning score late in 4th quarter; QB clobbered on option play; UT player grabs pitch/fumble in air and returns it about 90 yards for cinching score

This would be the most disappointed loss for me. I was an 11-year old kid on the top row of Stoll Field. Bernie Scruggs was the UK quarterback. UK was down 14-7 but had marched down the field getting 5-7 yards every play. Option right then Option left. They were on about the 10 when Scruggs option pitch was intercepted in mid air and returned for a UT touchdown by a defensive end named Johnson. 21-7 Tennessee.

His name was Carl Johnson. I've never forgotten it.

Well, really the most disappointed I've ever been when leaving CWS was 40 yrs ago. I hooked up with a beautiful girl sitting in front of me at the game and we left together only to find my wife standing beside my car in the parking lot. Just one of things that led to our divorce.

Losing to Florida back in 2007. I also remember leaving early during the Arkansas game in 2008 only for us to come back in the final few minutes.
