Spoke with Gabe DeArmond, the PowerMizzou.com publisher who covered Hamdan during his time with the Tigers. That's his experience in the SEC...
He took over playcalling duties for Mizzou for their last 4-5 games of the regular season. They were not good that year, but DeArmond said they DID get a lot better when he was calling plays. Then before the bowl game he left for Boise State. Drinkwitz called the plays again and it didn't go well.
It was Brady Cook's first season as a starter. Basically it seemed like Drinkwitz was intent on bringing in a new OC, and instead of keep his name in the hat for that Hamdan went with the Boise State job.
Mizzou didn't have a great offense but they didn't have a great team. Only calling plays for 4-5 games this year. He has a work history of coaching QBs and WRs.
What I've said is that this hire is less about finding one of those OCs who always gets a name QB and more about finding one who can evaluate the roster, implement a fairly similar system, and has seen a lot of things.
Definite Chris Petersen protege.
