Montavan quisenberry to WVU

I don't know if he was ever real high on Kentucky he played with my grandson his freshman year at garrard County then transferred to Boyle co they remained friends so this did not surprise me Neal brown got a good one

And I’m not sure UK was ever very high on him.

He would have been welcomed the first few Stoops’ classes, but given our depth and recruiting growth, Q’s 5’6”, 166 lb. size created serious question marks.
UK absolutely wanted him, but the question is what role he would play for all the big schools offering him. He would make an excellent special teams player, but he won't necessarily be a great fit for all teams and conferences as a featured back. It just kind of depends on his unforeseeable durability and if he grows/fills out going into his senior year and beyond. Don't forget that Michigan offered him, and they weren't scared of his size (Blake Corum was the same height, but he had a much thicker body going into college).

The Boyle County relationship with Neal Brown obviously won him over. It's believed that he could play a greater role in their passing offense on featured downs against the new Big 12 defenses, and this was likely more attractive than being a kick returner and wait-and-see how it plays out at UK.

On the other hand, just because a Boyle County recruit joins up with Neal Brown doesn't mean that it's going to be a guaranteed great situation. Reese Smith had some opportunities with WVU, but he ended up transferring to Liberty before it was all said and done. Brown was on the hot seat going into this previous season, but there's no reason to think that WVU will go backward with the conference being weakened, but you never really know. UK should keep the relationship open just in case he's ever on the transfer (or decommitment) radar down the road.

I'm pretty sure UK moved on, hence the quick commitment to WVU. That doesn’t mean he isn't a good player, UK is in on much better WRs

His official visit to UK was less than a week before he committed elsewhere (6/14/24). If there had been a lot more elapsed time, then maybe that would be much more believable about UK moving on. It's difficult to buy into the theory that UK moved on from an in-state player with several great offers than it is that Quisenberry just saw a greater opportunity with a trustworthy coach (Brown) who attended the same high school as him.

UK took someone better. He is too

You’re wrong but believe what you want. UK never liked his size and light frame.

May God help anyone who willingly chooses to spend an appreciable length of time in Morgantown, West Virginia.

It wouldn't surprise me if they never really pushed Stoops has always chosen size over speed. We took one or two early when stoops was hired and brown was running the offense...he was more willing to use a guy that didn't fit 6' 200lb projectability

Cats got 2 wrs back to back. Ferguson and Bowman. Both highly rated. That may have played a part in his decision.

UK never liked any of that, but begrudgingly offered him anyway? Even invited him to visit campus on multiple occasions?

Believing what you want goes both ways.
