Michigan's Defense

Alabama didnt lose the game in OT. They lost the game in regulation. There's a difference between knowing what people are going to do and stopping it. Michigan did both. Bama didn't.

Their defense just won that game, because their offense was mostly dogsht all night

This Bama team was VERY un-Saban like. Feels like he has one foot out the door. Wondering if the Lane Kinnin/Bama era will be starting in the coming months…..

Most of the breaks just seemed to go Michigan's way this time. E.g., the muffed punt with about a minute left in regulation recovered by Michigan on the half-yard line. It could easily have been a game winning safety or TD for Bama.

Bad play by that kid to begin with but he did a hell of a job recovering the ball and more importantly hanging on to it. He took a vicious hit and could have easily fumbled that ball into the end zone and that’s ballgame regardless who recovers.

Surprising results in the game for me, thought Bama was going to win it. But with the money OM has spent in the portal, particularly the defensive side OM is set up to make a run next year. Would ole Lane be willing to pass on that? OM has to be getting tired of him looking at every bigtime job opening every year, but the DT, Walter Nolan, was looking for number 1 draft pick kind of money. Reality surely set in and he didn't get 20-30m, but he got quite a NIL deal. But Lane is probably on Bama's short list, unless Saban has some input, don't think there is any love loss between the two.

Yea, like AL’s first TD wasn’t set up by another MI muff. Just face that MI was superior.

Aggressive on 3rd down 😒
Aggressive all game. Ironically I caught Rex Ryan talking about running qbs on Sunday nfl countdown and he was talking about guys like Lamar and you have to send 5 at him a lot to try to dictate to them instead of sitting there and letting the qb decide where he wants to dance around and run to.

Michigan sent guys most snaps and bama did squat the first half. Their answer in the second was to run at it or throw short. It worked for them and they controlled the half but the turnover and the pitiful snaps did them in. But Milroe isn’t Lamar. He’s a straight ahead runner more than a dancer and down field it feels like he’s just throwing balls up. More than anything it took bama too long to adjust to just playing physical and short game by waiting til halftime. I thought it was something they could’ve done earlier in the game.

But this is the new game of football. Defensively you better be trying to make some plays. Not just hoping these modern complex offenses just make mistakes while you just prolong drives.

Another thing to point out about bama is the day and age of just going with the biggest oline all the time doesn’t help in the modern game. Gotta have some guys that can move for pass rush in todays game. They still have the ‘everybody oversized’ line going on

Alabama lost that game waaaaay more than Michigan won it.

Boy this is a stupid post, as usual. Michigan missed and extra point, missed a field goal and muffed a punt, which led to one of Alabamas whopping 2 touchdowns. Michigan kicked Alabamas ass. Alabama had a miserable 288 yards of offense. Milroe faced a good defense and Alabama had no answers.

Great insights here!

I love the comments you have to make some plays to get off the field and not just sit back and hope the other team makes mistakes (ie Stoops/white vaunted rush three dudes)

And offense….you have to have Oline that csn move as the game is more passing. Can’t just maul people to death

Last few years the staff attrition definitely caught up with them. For years, it was an annual tradition of them having to replace both coordinators and a position coach or two. It's crazy they mostly maintained elite status.

Jmo but watching their games this year, their OC just isn't it. In the playoffs they still can't get the snap right. Milroe is awful throwing the ball yet they dropped back time and again all first half. The qb runs didn't compliment his skillset because he's a downhill guy.

All that and Alabama still had a shot to win. Think Washington wins the championship.

They brought pressure on a not very good passing QB and it clearly paid off.

Brad White was probably screaming the whole game for them to back off so they didn't give up a big play...FML...

Um whipped Bama up front - BAD .. UM RB was a freaking load . Bama did well to hang on , felt like their 2nd half adjumentys were far greater than any UM adjustment .. but as said before , the TO and the beationg they took in the first half Wass just too much .. 5 sacks in a half . Dominate performance by the UM defense ,,, and I loathe the Big t!n , used to hate Tosu insanely , now I strongly dislike Harbaugh and UM . Mainly because hes such a dick

Hope Wash wins the title , but they better be ready for one physical team . Best big tin team in years .
