That was a good watch. Excited for the offense.
There is a certain player on the UK team last year ... that if he returns would be PERFECT for this offense.

I like the offensive sets and philosophy. We could have used some of those concepts this past season versus what we ran toward the end of the season. Especially pin downs and stagger screens once we had to run sets in the half court.
I found a Youtube podcast while finishing up at work with some BYU media guys. One of them said Pope's big into analytics and they want nothing to do with mid-range shots. Only 3s and shots at the rim. They had a written goal to shoot at least 30 3s a game.
But he said his weakness seemed to be plays out of timeouts. We should be used to that.

I mean, I like the concept. But is he THAT guy who can get big talent here?
I’m not gonna be sad about shit…Reed and Z leave then they leave …not shit I can do about it just like this hire but Pope can still make the pitch.
Get Rondo his degree quickly and hire him to recruit and coach defense.
Everyone complaining should be required to watch this. I watched BYU some this year. I know he can coach, the issue will be if he can get some talented players

Can’t win the NCAAT relying on 3s that much. Part of the reason he’s never won a game in the NCAAT. It’ll be fun to watch but won’t amount to any championships.
I am hoping he brings a couple of his veterans with him and can grab 4/5 portal guys and maybe Jeff Shepherd will be an assistant and Reed and Z will come back. His team had some big wins this past season at a place where it very difficult to recruit. If he doesn’t succeed in 2 years in today’s world we need to move on.
Imagine 2015 were everyone shoots the transition shot. 😳. Exactly what beat us.

Oats doesn’t shoot over 50% threes actually and he has a proven track record that his offense works. Multiple conference championships, NCAAT wins, etc. The offenses are not the same.
Nova won the championship taking over 47% of their shots from 3.
They also won their previous taking almost 43% of their shots from 3.
BYU took 50% of their shots from 3 this season, but that was the peak. They took 40% + or - 3% in Popes previous seasons.
That's the kind of offense that always beat Cal because his teams can't guard the 3 or defend the pick and roll.

To be around. Why would you further stack the deck on Pope. He is set up for failure as it is.
Rondo said on the Boogie podcast that it's his daughter's senior year and that his priority was to get her off to college this year then start coaching next year.
Rondo has had issues with virtually every team he’s been on. He’s had a lot of issues with coaches. I loved watching him as a player, but I don’t want him anywhere near our coaching staff regardless of who the HC is. He has no experience as a coach and his track record as a locker room cancer is troubling. He’s also been involved in some domestic issues with 2 protective orders placed against him.
As dumb as people think hiring Mark Pope is, bringing Rondo on as a coach at this point is 10x dumber.
