Most years Monk is a top 3 player. Just such a deep '16 class that he's down at 5 or 6 but that don't mean he ain't elite.

Malik Monk has visited Kansas and now Kentucky on back to back weekends. Before that most recruits were having their In-home visits so maybe Monk just wanted to take this weekend off to take a break from the Recruiting process. We also know that Monk is more than likely going to probably hold off until Spring to make a decision and his announcement so I don't think pushing Arkansas back a weekend means anything in the process. I know alot of experts and fans have Monk now leaning to Kentucky over Arkansas but I really believe it is 50/50 right now and alot will depend in the spring when we see if Briscoe, Ulis, and Murray all head to the NBA. If something would happen and one of the guards decide to stay another year that could change Monk's decision. That is why I believe that Coach Cal really wanted Simmons to wait till Spring in case Monk would decide Arkansas then you have Fox and still Simmons that is a 5-star guard. I believe if Monk does have his visit with Arkansas the following weekend and he still waits till Spring to make an announcement and Kentucky does lose Ulis, Murray, and Briscoe to NBA I believe we get Monk. Right now I believe it is 50/50 on UK and Arkansas for Monk.

Its all a guess. I'll take the aproch of wait n see. Ever since the Wiggins receutment. That shit really stressed me out. I will never let an 18 year old worry me like that again. Unless they r my own kids. You just never can tell. I mean look at Terrance Jones. Homeboy committed to Washington on ESPN. Then called Cal withen a few hrs n changed it. This shit happens all the time. Now you got Loserville throwing prostitutes at guys, we all know what head we think with at that age. Smh.

What about Kyle Wiltjer who committed after zero visits? Point is, it's easy to pick one example. In general, I don't think visits make that big of a difference. UK just put on a huge spectacle at Big Blue Madness and nobody expects Giles or any of the others who attended to be swayed much as a result.

I knew you would say Wiltjer. LMAO!! I almost put a disclaimer at the end that says..."except Kyle Wiltjer".

Ok, there is one that was completely out of the norm. The kid was from the west coast and committed without a visit, which is extremely rare. You said your point was that naming someone was easy. Ok, name another that has committed to UK without taking a visit.

Secondly, of course it's not going to sway a recruit that has already chosen a school. Giles is from NC, he has been considered a Duke lean for a very long time and possibly already made his mind up on Duke. So, of course it's not going to change the mind of kids who have chosen a home school. However, for the undecided kids that aren't sure where the hell they want to go, you better believe that it makes a difference. You don't think that it helps to have that cool factor with Drake all over the program? To have that amazing Wildcat Lodge, or the stunning locker rooms with the F4 floor, or what about the Craft Center with it hot tubs with HDTVs all over the place, or the pictures of all the NBA players we have in the league, or the..............I could literally go on and on. You don't think that matters to some of these kids? Maybe not all of them like Giles but it's only logical to say that visits CAN and DO sway some recruits. It's naive to think otherwise.

Now, I'm still waiting on you to name me another player who committed without a visit to UK.

The above post was a joke. The Auburn game got moved up to 11am on Saturday and Malik is taking his ACT that morning as well. He's coming for Homecoming the following weekend.
I didn't think recruits were allowed to take official visits before passing the ACT. Has Monk already qualified and retaking the test to improve his score?

No thanks. You're obviously way more worked up over this topic than I am. Agree to disagree.

Being a hero by making Arkansas elite would be nice for any in state boy, but let's be honest. It takes more than 1 good player to do this. Monk is elite and the best sg in the country, but he's not good enough to take a bunch of stiffs and have them in the final four. That ain't happening. He will be at Kentucky. I think this kid is Cals favorite recruit in the entire class.

Honestly UK probably has more to gain from getting Monk than Arkansas does. Even though we do have the #1 and #2 rated JUCO players committed and could possibly make a small NCAA run with Monk, Kentucky is already set up to make a run and a guy like Monk could be the difference needed to win it all. We're going to be pretty terrible this year and having him for one year in 2016-17 would be big boost but in the end it's only for a year. I guess getting him could help us with perception if guys like him and Bobby Portis kill it in the league and UK doesn't exactly need help with that lol. But I can't blame him either way.

It's just so hard to make much of a home state legacy in college basketball like a guy like Darren McFadden or Corliss have here in just one year. If the rule made players stay for three years I could see that being more of a huge deal for him.

I'm not sure and I could be remembering incorrectly....but didn't Cousins switch his commitment from Memphis to UK after Cal came without a visit? I seem to remember him saying that he was going wherever coach cal was going to be.

I can see Monk signing early just to take the pressure off. Taking all his OVs early seems to indicate he'd like to sign early.

I also don't think he'd take that much heat at the high school level for signing with UK. His hometown team fans are going to support him no matter what, and rival team fans are going to give him a hard time no matter what.

I don't think that Monk wanting to wait and sign in Spring has anything to do with Arkansas giving him a hard time if he signs with UK in November. I think Monk wants to see from this Kentucky team who all will head to the NBA. He is waiting to see if Murray,Ulis, and Briscoe all head to the NBA! If something would happen and Briscoe & Ulis would stay at UK next year and Fox commits in November 2015 then that is 3 guards at UK not including Mulder & Matthews. If the guards that we do think are going to the NBA in Murray, Ulis, and Briscoe leave for the NBA then I believe we get Monk in the Spring to go with Fox and Mulder as backup. I think everyone is hoping though that Fox, Monk, and either (Allen, Bolden, or Giles) all commit in November to go with Gabriel ,Sacha Killeya-Jones, and Wynyard. That would be for sure the #1 Class in 2016 right there with Michigan State and Duke!

Arkansas is a known quantity and that is both their strength and weakness. If Monk sees the opening to come to UK and star, he will grab it, imo. However, if someone unexpectedly stays, then he'll likely avoid a logjam.
