Maalik Murphy Duke QB visiting UK today.

Cover 3 Podcast thinks Duke let him walk just FYI.
Did they say why? If it's for character reasons, we should care.

But if they think they have a better backup, Murphy still produced. And Oklahoma pushed out a Heisman candidate last year. So that factoid wouldn't scare me off.

Duke has already brought in the Tulane QB.

If you watched any Duke this year, you should be hoping that he goes somewhere else. Numbers aside, he has a weak arm, isn’t very accurate, doesn’t seem to make progressions well, and isn’t a running threat.

Glad we've cleared that up.

the good thing about having Boley is they don't need to break the bank on a QB and can put those funds elsewhere. they need to pay "back up" tier not "we are desperate for a starter" tier.

I think Boley can develop into a good QB but he certainly hasn’t shown enough to go into next season with him as a starter either. Had a nice half vs Texas, looked like a true Freshman vs UofL. Has a lot of upside but hasn’t earned the starting job either.

60 percent isn’t bad lol. The ints aren’t great but it was his first year as starter. I would’ve loved for our QB to have had those numbers last year. Not to mention who exactly do yall think we can get in the portal? Come on lol

Duke also dropped 22 passes which obviously hurts the completion percentage.

Regarding the QB from WSU, he has a "no contact" tag on him, so likely headed to OU.

They didn’t dive in they just said Duke didn’t fight to keep him. Could be a budget deal plus they had the Tulane guy in their back pocket. Duke didn’t face many good defenses this year so the 11 interception would be red flag.

Yeah. If perennial football powerhouse Duke only went 9-3 with him, improving by a measly 1 win over last year, how good can he be.

He does NOT have a weak arm. Can easily throw the ball 50 yards in the air. He has a VERY strong arm. Might want to learn a little about the player before making comments on him. His weakness is he likes to stand in the pocket and throw the ball as he sets up, does not extend plays very well. But he does avoid sacks by getting rid of the ball, hence some accuracy issues. Check out his tape, a weak arm is not one of his issues.

Yeah arm strength is his greatest attribute. He throws a really good deep ball, and is good pocket passer. The lack of being a running threat is why I question the fit here.

The poster who stated "if you watched Duke this year, he has a weak arm", obviously didn't watch a single Duke game this year , LOL. He said it so matter of fact, and couldn't be more WRONG. Those type of posters are the ones I have issues with. I do not mind someone having a difference of opinion than mine, but not when it is not even close to being accurate or simply made up.

His literal highlight tape on YouTube is 2 mins of him throwing deep balls in game this year lol. I don’t know what the poster was watching then.

In another thread I posted about getting Murphy. I was roasted by a couple of posters. "He had 11 INTs", "he can't scramble", "he throws dinks and dunks". I countered back with "3,000 years and 29 TD's is 3,000 yards and 29 TD's, no matter how you get it." Not to mention it was his first year as a starter and has 2 years left to play.
We have had such luck with portal QBs. If he chooses us, it will be less than an hour our board will have him winning the Heisman in 2025. If we get him and push aside our HS recruited QBs, we willbe unable to get a future HS QB to even visit UK. Why go to Kentucky and watch a portal QB play while recruits never get the opportunity to see the field. Not getting on the field seems to have a very negative impact on development.

That’s not true lol we have roster of nothing but freshman QBs. They have to get a veteran. Every schools takes transfer QBs. It doesn’t hurt anyone in recruiting lol. Also to be frank our HS qbs have all sucked and even when they left did nothing.
