Just a thought ... maybe Cal was able to get better players because of being at UK. Tougher to get the best talent for any coach at inferior programs.
I’d be ok with it if he brought Donovan as associate head coach, say split a 10mil salary with Donavan taking over in 2-3 years when Pitino retires. Crazy I know but we would have 2 of the best coaches in the game at the same time
If UK is hiring someone in that age bracket I would want Kelvin Sampson.

No doubt recruiting is important but not as important as coaching. There's not one 5-star recruit in the final four but there are two very good coaches.
Why did Cal own Pitino while both were at elite programs?
One thing is he is competitive and hates to lose.
He's not perfect and neither am I.
The BBN doesn't want him. He has a lower chance to rejuvenate the fan base. The 4 coaches on that list would be the guy.
And Cal? He's held the fans in contempt for years, now. Some of the things that Pitino did, Cal did too, sometimes worse. And like someone else said, we're hiring a basketball coach, not a pastor. I'm not saying I agree with his past behavior, because I DON'T! But I want the best possible coach available. Yes, Pitino made some mistakes, some pretty bad. I would like to know who HASN'T made mistakes, some pretty bad, I'm sure.
IF Pitino came back for a SHORT stint and got us back in the tournament and more than the round of 64(🤣😉🤪), how many of you that criticize him on here regularly (and the continuous jokes🤨) would stop with all of that and just let it go? Just curious.
Incredibly accurate. I've been following for almost two years. He's nailed just about every recruitment, even ones that aren't on the radar for UK. Nobody is 100%, but he's as close as it gets.
Pitino is the best coach in america. He would keep reed without a doubt and groom someone for the job to take over in 5 years. The guy has a massive chip on his shoulder too

UK didnt go undefeated all those years they beat pitino. Somehow others were able to overcome it. I mean if it were a loss here and there okay, but it was almost damned every year

If Reed were my son and all signs pointed to him being a top 5-7 pick and getting $20+ million dollars I would suggest he declare.
