LaGerald Vick to Kansas

I didn't want some project mid tier 4 star anyways. Good. This is UK we get big time players. 5 stars, and highly ranked 4 stars.

There you go again, making us look stupid.

Guess you didn't want WCS, Darius Miller or even Matthews this year...?

Just delete that post.

do not buy it for a second that UK called it off. They only offered him 2 days ago. I think it had more to do with Kansas' recruitment of Kobie Eubanks and letting Vick know that if he didn't decide soon they would take the commitment from Banks. If Vick wanted to go to Kansas, he likely had a very small window to make that call.

Also, I don't buy at all that Vick picking Kansas had anything to do with UK being in good position with Swanigan and concerns that Poythress will play at the 3 next year. Vick (or his coach) stated that he thought he could be really good his freshman year and then take off his sophomore year. He knows no matter where he goes he's gonna be a role player at most. Also, Matt Jones stated about a month ago that Calipari was sold on Poythress playing primarily the 4 because that's his best chance for success at this point.

I think Vick picking Kansas had more to do with other guys Kansas was recruiting and Vick's desire to play for Bill Self.

If UK ends up with either Swanigan or Murray to finish the class, they're gonna be really good. If they get both, they're preseason #1.
I agree on all points. Eubanks visit to KU was canceled immediately after this commitment. Vick probably knew Eubanks wasn't leaving Kansas without committing so he grabbed the spot first.

Congrats to KU, he was a lifelong fan of the Jayhawks. You guys try to avoid those 30 point beatdowns this year...ok?

Now the story is that he's lifelong fan of the Jayhawks so THAT'S why he is going there? Some kid from Memphis? Come on, man.

The kid himself mentioned it in some interview, been mentioned many times Alice.

No. It's just because Self is that good. Is that what you want people to say so you'll feel validated before you have your cookies and milk at bedtime?

You look desperate and pathetic with all your self-validating posts here on this UK message board.

It looks like Jerry Meyer telling both fan bases what they want to hear

LaGerald Vick had pressure to make quick decision if wanted to go to Kansas. Other wings were waiting in line. Kobie Eubanks in particular.

Kentucky making inroads w Caleb Swanigan. This progress hurt LaGerald Vick recruitment. Concern of Poythress playing wing if UK gets Biggie.

I just didn't see the appeal. Kid would have collected splinters on our roster, and it's not exactly the deepest.

Congrats KU, I suppose. The Diallo loss hurt much worse than this one.

Also, is there a KU fan in here chest thumping already about the Jan 30 game, after UK stuck it in dry last season. Gawd, some of you have the memory span of a goldfish.

We dont need anymore players for the thousandth time

Obviously Cal thinks otherwise and I tend to agree with him too. Coach wants to use Alex at the 4 spot if possible and I think we need more offense added to this team. Don't get me wrong, I think we have a good team right now but if we can add either Swanigan or Murray then I think we can be VERY good and compete for a title. I may be spoiled but I just don't want a "good ole team" that will be fun to watch grow, I want a team that has a great chance at cuttin some nets. We could use more offensive talent, IMO.

Actually I do think lots of these kids enter college expecting to stick around a few years or at minimum understand OAD can't happen for all. With this class especially, players like Zimmerman for example will not be OAD players. The thought that Cal might not even be at UK in a year or two could mean everything for a player like him. I don't think all players fall into this category, but the NBA talk has effected him with this class imo.

I think theres a chance it was used after the Cleveland talk, so maybe its isolated, but I'd still get out in front of it, however that may be.

I really didn't like the fact that Cal said the only reason he came back was because of the returning players. Whether true or not, I knew that it would be turned around used against us on the recruiting trail. I'm not sure what Cal's motive was by telling that to the media but at the time, I thought it was ammo against us.

To me, this can be seen as potential good news on Murray (who should be, and I believe is, our #1 priority).

1. I seriously doubt that Vick would've committed to Kansas without at least following through on his visit here given how excited he was to receive an offer from us on Friday.

2. I don't think taking both Murray and Vick was ever an option given the current construct of our roster. I suspect that Vick was being recruited as a backup option if Murray began to look unlikely and/or to add a little pressure to Murray in trying to get a commitment from him.

3. It seems reasonable to me to conclude that the report that we cancelled Vick's visit might be accurate. The only reason I can imagine that we would offer on Friday and then cancel his visit 2 days later is that the staff is suddenly feeling better about Murray. At least I hope that's the case.

Or Cal is just fed up as we are with it all and says screw it, were good...lets ball.

As others have said I am not really sad at loosing Vick. A lot of people on here are vastly underrating Mathews. As for Swanigan I thing he ends up at Purdue. I think he is just playing UK for attention.

Hope you're banned well before then.
I am NOT going to get banned. You may not like my school that I received my degree (s) and continue to support, but my posts have been polite and friendly. Even Rupp doesn't ban posters just because they haven't drank the BBN Kool-Aid.

If the Cleveland jobs opens and Cal doesn't take it then the NBA talk goes away for good. Until then it hangs over his head.
Your sig is embarrassing. Pretty sad that a fan of a blueblood has to go out of their way to try and lay claim to the success of others. Matter of fact, it may be immature on my part, but I find your sig downright disrespectful, and see it as you trying to bait members of this board.

Let's get one thing very clear; Rupp Arena isn't named after a Jayhawk. Yeah, Rupp may have played at KU for a few years, but he coached at UK for a lifetime (40+ years), while building the greatest basketball tradition known to college basketball, maybe even the world.

Hate to tell you, but only in your wet dreams is Rupp a Jayhawk. He is without a doubt the biggest Kentucky Wildcat of all, and during his time he would have been more than happy to let you know all about it.

Spending a few years playing basketball at KU as a teenager doesn't even begin to compare to his time at UK. He's called The Baron of the Bluegrass for a reason, and that reason is not because he considered himself a Jayhawk.

Said it before Vick made his decision and I'll say it again- I didn't think we should have offered this kid considering we already have two guys better than him coming in at the 2/3 and '16 is loaded with wings. It's Murray or bust. And if Swannigan wants to come, great.

To be honest. Vick would have likely played BEHIND both Matthews and Mulder and he knew Cal was most likely going to recruit over him for 2016, which is why I think he chose KU instead. No big deal really. Cal was only recruiting him as a back-up/practice body anyways. In any other season VIck would have never even received an offer anyway.

Kansas has become such a joke. It's like Dad adopted another little brother for us. Their fans have such a boner for UK, it cracks me up. If a team has owned you the way UK has throughout history, you probably shouldn't talk ish. In fact, just STFU. What a bunch of losers.

Anyway, looking forward to another year of constant UK threads on your boards and another choke job in March. Like I said, a joke.

I am not into revisionist history. If you want to say that Rupp didn't go to Kansas, isn't a Jayhawk and that he isn't part of the Phog Allen Coaching Tree, that's cool. It's not correct, but whatever. You probably don't think that Cal is part of the Jayhawk family too. Married a Jayhawk. Got his first coaching job in Lawrence. Cal is a part of the Phog Allen Coaching Tree too. He was my coach at a Larry Brown Basketball Camp. He is great guy. I liked him then. I like him now.

We don't 'have' to have anymore players. We don't need Ulis, Briscoe, etc either. As long as we have 6 or 7 players, right? Just according to how many games you will be happy winning. Without another good player or two we will lose a few games. And doubtful we could make a serious run.

Going to KU doesn't make him more of a Jayhawk than a Wildcat. He also attended New York University. Does that make him a Bobcat or whatever their mascot is/was? If you want to pretend he was a Jayhawk, then so be it, but to imply that Rupp Arena is named after a Jayhawk is bs.

Rupp Arena wasn't named after wet behind the ears, teenage Rupp that attended KU. It was named after one of the greatest coaches ever, in any sport. It was named after a man who coached the Kentucky Wildcats from 1930 to 1972. During that time, he won an unprecedented 876 victories, winning four national championships, twenty-seven SEC championships (82.2% winning) and turning Kentucky into one of the greatest collegiate basketball programs of all time.

To put it in perspective for you, Rupp lived in the state of Ky. and coached UK for literally more than half his life. His and his family's roots are deeply planted in the state. When he died the state flew flags at half staff in his honor, he's buried in the Lexington Cemetery, and his tombstone reads "UK Basketball Coach 42 Years".

He is a Wildcat through and through, and for to come here and put that crap in your sig is very disrespectful, and I will continue to report you until it is removed.

We will have one of the best back courts in the country, if not the best. We have what many are saying is the consensus #1 draft pick in the post, and at this stage, resembles AD23 (premature, I know). We have some role players, who if they do their jobs, should compliment our studs very well. Mulder is a fantastic shooter, which is much needed and something we've been missing. Matthews is going to surprise a lot of people. An injury is the only reason he slid in the rankings, and he's healthy now. Poythress at the 4 spot will be a force. I actually like this squad a lot better than what we had 2 years ago, and that team went to the championship. Matter of fact, I like that we aren't as deep as what we were last year. Rhythm can and should be easily established since the PT will be abundant. I don't think we need anyone else, not even Murray. He'd be a 'nice to have' at this point, but not a necessity.

Plus, we have Tyler Ulis. He's only going to be better, if that's even possible.
