KU shoots last 13 FTs of the game

Frank Mason touched Hield on that inbound too. Kansas also got away with two goaltends during the game. But that's home court advantage for you.

That's why I can't consider games like this as "classics". Everyone that watched that knows why ku won, and why would we want to watch that again?

Until basketball decides to standardize the rules of the game in the way football has done so, there will be very few classics.

I'd forgotten about the two goal tends that ku got away with! That kind of stuff rarely happens in football because it would just be reviewed and corrected. But basketball? Nah, no one cares enough to do anything about it.

Pathetic end to that game.

Fouls don't get more blatant than that final inbounds play.

It's cool though, KU will get fat on another little 12 title until they, and the hairpiece, will run out of time in the ncaa tournament yet again...

I personally didn't care who won that game but Kansas was getting screwed by the refs on a few calls too. That was a hell of a ball game is all I have to say.

It was a great game. Those are the best two teams in the country right now, and they should be based on the amount of experienced talent they have. Nothing wrong with admitting that.

The more blantant thing to me was on the Hield inbound TO, the ref left Mason get all over him causing Hield to turn it over. Terrible thing to let dictate the game.

Hield should have let Mason knock the ball out of his hand.

Man, stop it. You all sound like a bunch of Tard fans. The refs could have handed them the game if the dude from OU could have hit a free throw, simple as that.
That doesn't even make sense. How would that have been the refs handing them the game? The guy was hammered on that rebound.

I understand why some people like to simplify the game though and brush past the outside influences that change things like officiating. I'm just not one that can do that. These things change outcomes, and some of us notice those sorts of details.

I get that, but if we lose @ KU (which I fully expect because they do get an advantage at home - most teams do) I am not going to blame the refs, just seems like sour grapes to me.

OU had several chances to win but they just couldn't finish. I think Kruger should have let them play it out on 2 occasions instead of calling a T.O. I think he out coached himself.
Seems like they never scored or even got a decent look after any of his T.O.'s

Why would you go into it with that closed mind though? If the refs change the game, should they not get called out for that?

I change my mind, after watching Sportscenter (I had no idea you had to give them 3 feet - I'm not brushed up on my rules) that has to be called. Especially when it changes the game like that. He hits Hield while he is taking it out of bounds ... pretty amazing.

Goodman and SVP just broke down that inbounds play, showed it numerous times and it showed Mason touching the inbounder and even stepping over the line.

Then they showed post game with Mason who said the ref told him to stay back but then he said once he handed him the ball he ignored that because the ref couldn't do anything about it.

Ha, guess "wouldn't" do anything about it is more accurate.

I don't think he refs handed them anything, but they got some key calls in key moments. They got the standard home court advantage, and I have no problem admitting that they are a top 3 team right now.

Did Mason actually say that?? How brazen!

Yes, he did. I don't think he may not have used the word ignore but he def said he moved up and the ref couldn't do anything about it. After the clip SVP said something like... well yeah, they could have called a violation.

The funny part is that Kansas always flames out in the tournament wayyyyyy too early when they aren't propped up by the big 12 officials and they don't understand why. haha Kansas is a good team but the Big 12 should be embarrassed by Frank Mason's comments post game about the ineptitude of their officials.

How does any fan question officiating when they do make a correct call when a player goes and chokes the free throw. They made a call and Oklahoma's guy missed.

I am sure the Big 12 commissioner and head of officials will be all over that tomorrow. If you believe that here is a dancing banana: [banana]

When OU missed the one and one with two seconds left, they sealed their fate.

Could have won the game right there but choked. You can't let Kansas have three tries on their home court.

Funny how nobody mentioned the first half foul numbers……
OU had their chances

How quickly we forget that Kansas only shot one free throw in the first half and Oklahoma shot 15. Or going into the second overtime Oklahoma that had shot 22 free throws and KU six. plenty of bad calls on both sides, but an amazing basketball game

Given the turnover, it's a tough no call.

1 play doesn't make a game because that assumes that the game has been officiated perfectly otherwise. You hope that the refs don't have to be the reason for an outcome to end the game.

OU got a chance at the line with 2 seconds left in regulation to hit a free throw and win. That would have been a disappointment to a great game.

Was there a foul for over the back? Looked like it to me.

However, in the exact same possession Mason drives to the basket and is raked across the face, and there's no foul called. They show it clear as day on the replay during the telecast from the above angle camera. Mason subsequently misses the shot he was fouled on, and then the over the back foul is called to put OU at the line to win it with 2 seconds left.

Point being, every single game in every single sport is going to have a handful of questionable calls, bad calls, and missed calls. Neither team was denied numerous opportunities to win the game. Good and bad calls went for both teams. The result was an outstanding and entertaining game!

The best part is that both teams will play again at Oklahoma, and possibly a 3rd time in either the Big 12 tournament or the NCAA Tournament.

Frank Mason will be great at pulling that move in four years with the church league refs when he's starting at point guard for First Baptist of Lawrence, Kansas.

OU still shot one more FT than KU...and had a 19-5 advantage at one point. KU certainly got the benefit of the whistle later on, but again, it was still an evenly called game overall. OU hit like 16 three's, had a nice FT advantage for most of the game (until the OTs) and still lost.

All of that tells me that Jan 31st is gonna be a long night for us because we can't shoot 3's consistently and no way we get a +1 FT advantage in the game, and certainly will never have a +14 advantage at one point in the game at the line like OU did.

When play is occurring and everything is going super fast I can understand bad calls. These guys are only human. In the case of the out of bounds play we have a stationary player and very clear rules. When a ref misses the player guarding the inbounding player getting in the prohibited space and then misses the guarding player hitting the ball while in the hands of the inbounding player that is pretty much incompetence. He needs to go back to school and learn where to stand when watching an inbounds play or maybe he needs to retire.

Oklahoma spent most of the 3 overtimes playing 1 on 5 and didn't run any semblance of an offense, not to mention they went multiple possessions where Buddy Hield stood in the corner and didnt even touch the ball. There were also a couple of possessions where they didnt make 1 pass, they have no one to blame for the loss but themselves. It was a crazy, exciting game but whatever OU was doing on offense was a complete joke.

Wait.....15 shots to 1? And these morons are ranting all night long about the game being handed to the home team? The bitterness is fantastic.

Btw, let's just ignore the phantom foul which allowed OU to take it to OT, right? Or the phantom foul at the end of the first half which led to the technical and handed them four points.

Jobbed they were! Every team but UKKK gets the calls at home! Arrrrrghhhhhh!!

Phantom foul? Zero chance you think he wasn't over the back.

The Phantom foul was on Mason, not the over the back on Lucas. KU fans were arguing Mason (or was it Graham?) got fouled before that happened.

Also I give no support to "UKKK" get that junk out of here.

One of the worst officiated games I have ever seen. For the first time ever I actually saw a moving screen called n the guy who was dribbling the basketball. At halftime Kansas had 16 fouls and Oklahoma had 5. Oklahamo had 18 made free throws at one time and Kansas had 4 free throw attemtps.
