Nate Ament latest news "rumors are swirling he will be in lexington tuesday night for the Tennessee game " last visit

Nate ament is a guy you take the gamble on for sure. Just get a physical front court guy to pair with him, and let ament be Kd of college
Bingo and most if not all of these guys are coming here because of the money including portal guys .

People have to realize just because some of these guys want the money or to get to the NBA as soon as possible doesn’t mean they don’t want to win while they are here .

I don't know if I'd want to pay even the low end of that, despite what I said above.

I mean 3 to 5mil is crazy for one season from an 18 year old, especially if they aren't under any sort of contract.

If this is how its going to be eith the top15 or so recruits.. maybe its better to go give $1mil to five of the top portal guys.
Tried and true portal guys especially. Not Knowing what these freshmen will do when the competition is better than what they are playing against now is another story all together. We have seen bust over the years once they get into college. I too think we should spend lower amounts on transfers that have shown they can play than pay one and not have a backup.

The root of the problem isn't really about the money. It's the fact they're 1AD who are very likely not going to live up to their ranking, and because he got all that money there likely wasn't enough to build high quality talent around him. It's about meeting expectations.
While I have never looked up the impact of all of the wanted 5 stars in the past, I am willing to bet a large number of them have not met the expectations of their hype simply because they are now playing against better talent than they were playing in HS.

The recruit I want the most at this point is Otega Oweh. That dude is a warrior and we need him to return.
Garrison is another I would also like to have back as well. We will need some more height to go with Moreno. Plus, Garrison will get better. Our front court needs to get stronger though so Ament would help. But is he worth 3-5 million?

I don't follow recruiting too intensely these days. I have no idea how good this kid is. I assume he is an elite prospect.

With that said... 6'9" and 185 lbs... wow. How many cheeseburgers can he consume over the next 7 months?

How is u6 getting all these good recruits?
Adidas
Apparently the agent behind all their troubles was sitting behind the team bench. I guess Adidas is helping their flagship programs out. For whatever reason Nike doesn’t do this kind of thing for UK unless I’m missing it

I read it was between Duke and us. The cost would be between $3 million to $5 million for a one and done. Not sure that will be a good investment. Think what we could get from portal with that amount of money. Maybe two seasoned guys with two years to play. Just saying. I have no idea which would be best. How much will a true freshman benefit us? Not very often does a freshman come in and contribute like Flagg has at Duke. I feel like we have had our fill of one and done kids.
If we want to up the talent level that what it will take. I could see close to 3 million but 5 is out of the question.

There will be fewer transfers this offseason than in previous ones since there will be no more 5th years (as of now) and with that college basketball is about to get much younger.

As a symptom of no more 5th years, a lot of teams who have built their rosters around older experienced players from portal are about to have a lot of empty spots to fill. Think about these teams that are losing 50% or more of production and don't have big high school recruiting classes coming in. Auburn, Louisville, Tennessee, Kansas, Memphis, Texas A&M, list goes on and on. These schools are going to be going after a lot of the same guys. $ value is going to be driven up because of high demand. Ament is going to be more talented than probably almost any portal entry and will be able to make an impact on day 1 if used correctly. Go ahead and grab him and worry about getting 2-3 impact portal guys versus 4-5.

With our roster construction I like this framework:

5 returners (including leading scorer and another who played big minutes)
4 high level freshman
3 or 4 new transfers / international players

Healthy mix of all 3 that gives you some continuity, experience, and high end talent.
That is true. T A&M needs 8 guys for next year alone. I think Ament is worth the gamble. If we whiff we have all that money for the portal.

We need nate to commit, for no other reason than to let the country know that Kentucky and Mark pope can still recruit top 5 elite players . Come on down nate the love and the bank vaught will be there for you . I think we have a shot . GO CATS

Give me Najai Hines from NJ as UK's last freshman recruit this year and I'll be happy. Interest in him is apparently blowing up, with Kansas being the biggest program to now offer. But the 24/7 article I read from a couple of days ago said he is wide open and wants other schools to recruit him. He's putting up crazy rebound and scoring numbers against good high school size and competition in NJ, with great FG% to go along with blocks, steals and assists.

If he’s a rebounder then sign him up.

We haven’t had one since Oscar.

Understand those who don't want to live with a team of Freshmen. That being said, there's some out there who have gone way to the other side and want to turn down an elite talent in a great HS class of talent but will celebrate if some old ass guy who can't play but yells/screams possible return.

If you are saying this because you want to massage the fact that he's unlikely to choose Kentucky. I get that. But to literally crap on idea of bringing in an elite talent is strange.
I'm not scoffing at the idea of bringing in an elite talent, but I am leary of going into the SEC w/ a 185 lb. PF

Can not shoot or pass, doubt Pope will recruit him

Seems more like a Auburn recruit than UK recruit

He had 26 points and 28 rebounds against a rival that to my understanding had a pretty decent post player (6'7") themselves. I saw a video interview of his team's PG after the game, and when they asked him about Hines he got the biggest smile on his face and shook his head and said he's the best post player to ever play here.

I'm thinking, let's get Oweh on the phone to him today. Or better yet, let's get Pope, Oweh (is that against the rules?) and the staff on a plane to NJ.

we may not get a better portal frontcourt players than ament from portal

Remember we do not have covid transfers and choices are more limited

And Ament I believe has similar level with frosh version of randle. So he will be better than most frontcourt transfers

Def a roll of the dice on who ends up on the portal. But given 1 year, I’d take the Wolf kid from Michigan over an 18 year old….but there isn’t a guarantee he’ll be available so you take ament if it’s reasonable and doable

Wolf is rare example, you are more likely to get Tre Mitchell or Toppin or even Lance Ware than Wolf from portal. And former three are definitely worse players than freshman Ament.

Have you seen him play? If so, I would love to hear about it. Seems he has good stats with blocks, steals and assists for any high school Big. Was a high major football recruit (TE prospect, and now at 6'10" 255). Also has a great FG% - but I admittedly know nothing about his perimeter shooting. Still the skills sound kind of Nazr Mohammad like don't they? By the way, let's not forget that currently Auburn is the #1 team in CBB. And seems Self thinks he is a good enough prospect for Kansas.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings for UK to dump nike. I feel like they were instrumental in dooks dominance over us in recruiting the last 7/8 yrs

Seriously.. how could you look at what Pope is doing, with the chance to be THE PF next year that this offense can run through.. along with a good paycheck.. and want to go elsewhere? Go be the 3rd PF on a Duke team that's clearly undercoached? UNC to play on a sinking ship?
Word I have heard is UK has slim chance

I really like Johnson and Oweh as the 2 and 3. I prefer a better rebounder and someone bigger and stronger for the 4 spot because the SEC PF's will break Ament in half the way refs allow opponents to play us.

take that 3 million add 1 million to it with 4 million get the best PG and PF in the portal.

Kentucky can’t pay for players. The schools can’t do that. NIL comes from boosters
I'm not contesting this because I know nothing about it. But if this is true this is VERY stupid. The entire reason those lawsuits were brought in the first place was that the schools themselves were making money and big money off those kids' "names, images, and likenesses" by selling huge TV contracts to ESPN and CBS for tons of money that went directly to the schools without the kids seeing a penny. If they're making the schools give some of that money to the kids, then that's at least somewhat fair and definitely an improvement in terms of fairness. Maybe even totally fair because the kids could never make money like that on their own at that age without the schools. It's a cooperative venture.

But if the schools are not ALLOWED to pay the kids directly..... by the rules..... then the rules are actually FORCING the poor schools to keep all that money$$$ from those titanic lucrative TV deals to themselves. And an extra burden has been thrown onto the boosters because......why? The whole thing would be the worst possible travesty of justice and would make me have a whole lot less respect for the NCAA and the legal system than I have already.

I don't know spit about it, like I said. But I sure hope we're not being collectively that stupid AND that abusive AND actually calling it an improvement. Good night 😱

I would rather pay $3-$5 mil for a single transfer than a single high schooler, assuming he’s not a Flagg/Zion/AD type.

If incoming freshman are potentially getting this much NIL, what will the transfer market look like this offseason? Did Dybantsa reset the market? Is this related to the new revenue sharing system? I can’t keep up!

Am I forgetting something or did you forget we have Brandon garrison 7ft

Kentucky needs to offer a bag. If they do they get them. If not, he'll go elsewhere.
Supposedly Pope wouldn’t go any higher than a little over a million for Wilson and we lost him when we supposedly lead for months. It’s said that Ament was $2M. I just don’t see Pope doing that if he would barely go over a million with Wilson. Wish I were wrong though.
