KU player tells all

Yeah but you fail to understand the simple fact that the ncaa has absolutely no reason to follow their own rules that they create.

They found a loophole in the UNC case. But anyone with common sense knows what went on.

Many teams have taken more money than the Louisville basketball team did for hookers but the atrocity of the offense meant they lose a championship.

You fail to acknowledge that coach K’s program broke the same rules that umass did and the ncaa chose to punish one and not the other.

You think I believe I am right and it’s no use arguing but can you answer why rules apply differently to certain schools?

If the ncaa can apply rules in taking money from agents differently to schools your stance is they are not allowed to do that in an academic fraud case?

What about enes kanter? There were many before and many after him that took money from foreign teams but were allowed to play.

The NCAA is not allowed to do that, yet they did. You want to cite one case of the NCAA claiming their hands are tied because rules are rules and ignore all the other times they enforced rules or did not enforce rules based on the program committing the infraction.

I have given you several examples of this. You give me one and claim you are right.

Billy Preston. Wow, I forgot all about that whole saga at KU. Him and Cliff Alexander. It was like Kansas was trying to get caught. They were like that show “World’s Worst Criminals” when the guy tries to rob the gas station but drops his gun and the cashier picks it up. And then he runs but can’t get out the door because it’s a pull open door and he’s panicking and trying to push it open. But then he finally gets out and runs into a cop in the parking lot. Except the NCAA is the cop in this scenario and they give them a high-five as they run away. I think that made sense, it’s Bourbon Friday for me. Fist bump to anyone that’s read all this. I hope we get Cooper Flagg in the 2025 class, dude’s a baller.

“The NCAA” you mean SEC commissioner Greg Sankey.

He'll just be chalked up as a disgruntled ex-player.

If the NCAA was going to do anything, they would have done it long ago. Nothing happening here.
It does sound like sour grapes though. Not that he isn't right, but after this long it just comes off as petty and wanting to be in his small spotlight for a few minutes.

With NIL going hot and heavy, no one really cares anymore. Not to mention most rational fans know that every school that ever got a top 100 player in the last 30 years were giving improper benefits of one thing or another to get them to their schools, including ours.

The NCAA literally put out two long memos reiterating that pay for play wasn’t legal, said they were cracking down, and created a new director of NIL enforcement office. Someone cares.

yeah it's the wild wild west out there right now. It's crazy that they are talking like 4 million for Dickinson right now. Someone needs to reign this all in, or it will be a professional league. Might as well let them unionize, hold a draft, and go from there. I am all for kids being able to make some money here and there. But getting 15k to show up to a fast food restaurant to "work" for 4 hours and take pictures. Is a little bit ridiculous.

How is this any different than the past before NIL was a thing when programs were paying players? NIL is just players making money off of their name and fame as they should be able to.
Like what you see now do you? The sport is destroyed.

This is KY, they weren’t paid. U6, Puke, Kansas, Uof Filth and fans from schools like that likely see no difference.

You have your head in the sand if you think NIL is new. This has been going for a long time UCLA was the originator. Coaches have always justified cheating. Now they don’t like it when everyone can do it.

Yes I like what I see, the boys making money off of their fame doesn’t offend me. Weird that you’re OK with everyone else making millions but the boys getting paid destroys the game.

Weird that you are ok with massive corruption, team instability, destruction of team loyalty and complete loss of the game of amateur college basketball. But you are right a few poor little rich boys make millions while that vast majority get nothing. That offends anyone with a sense of fair play and love for the now defunct game of amateur college basketball. Weird that you are ok with that.

Strawman argument, Cats Illustrated special. Where did I say I was OK with massive corruption? Oh wait, I didn’t, you’re lying and implying that I did. So typical of you people. I said I’m happy that players get to make money off of their name image and likeness. That is not massive corruption, imagine being upset about someone being able to profit off of their name. Corruption has been around in college athletics since people have been profiting off of the sport, it’s not some new thing that started with NIL. You’re clueless.

LOL at a right winger crying about “a few poor little rich boys making millions while the vast majority get nothing.” Are you asking for socialism now? Funny how quick they change up when the boys are getting paid.

This Is Fine GIF

Take your political BS and pound sand. NIL and the portal have destroyed the sport. You are clearly unable to refute that. So you played the political BS card. Weak sauce.

LOL, OK drama queen. Since the sport is destroyed kick rocks. Surely you don’t want to waste your time on a message board dedicated to destroyed sport.

No card was played, you literally complained about the top players getting millions and the vast majority getting nothing, sounds like you want to spread the wealth.

Sounds like you want the game ripped apart by throwing cash at kids that are going to get rich anyway. You make my point so clearly. Your attitude is exactly why the was a piss poor idea from the start.

Sounds like I want guys to be able to profit off of their name. Sounds like you want to be king and decide who can make money and who can’t money. Turns out you don’t believe in a free market after all. Fraud.

Sounds like you want to want to utterly corrupt and destroy the sport millions have loved for decades. That's what your rich boys are doing. The concept of free market has absolutely zero to do with amateur sports.

You keep saying corrupt. What is a corrupt about a player profiting off of their name? The free market has everything to do with this. They are getting paid what the free market says they deserve to get paid. It upsets you when the boys are getting paid tho. Everyone else can profit and make millions but it destroys the game game when the boys get paid, not from colleges or the NCAA, off their name and likeness.

SHOW ME DA MONEY!!! If you don't have a problem with what is happening, over a1000 players in portal. Teams disrupted. All so players can have their own personal "let's make a deal". My explanation will just meet with more poor little rich boy rationalization. I suspect you are not a KY fan and somehow see this as an opportunity for whatever lesser school you support to succeed. Good luck with that.

Billy Preston!

I hope he gave the NCAA testimony. Otherwise "Nothing from Nothing" leaves nothing, you gotta have something.....

Cause we know the Kansas lawyers used the UNC "Will it go Round in Circles" playbook for their defense.

Clap your hands. Dude was the 5th Beatle man.

For show... they have no teeth. Lawsuits that got us NIL and more will keep the NCAA at bay.

But... the NCAA isn't adjudicating this case. The IARP is... and the NCAA already said the IARP is doing a crappy job and is disbanding them after KU and LSU.
If the NCAA was handling this case, I suspect KU would be in deep trouble (although, UNC showed how all that could be negated in court).
In reading this article, three things stick out... 1) Preston and his mom are upset that he couldn't hang on professionally (I would expect them to sue KU and Adidas next; they really should if they are honest in what they are saying)... 2) Preston never played a game at KU... and 3) it's all legal now... for better and worse.

Mccants did the same thing to UNC and nothing happened. Said he never attended a class but made honor roll one year.

The NCAA gifted UNC a title for this transgression may be time to bet for Kansas in 2024

"Kentucky's Shame."

Lol, meanwhile teams were winning titles, and cheating a helluva lot worse. Charlotte State is gonna pay for this shit.

No fanbase misunderstands NIL more than Kentucky fans. Pay for play is not legal now. Adidas paid him to play at an and Adidas school, nothing now is legal about that.

Obviously it’s not exactly the same, but Adidas can get the money to the kids that they want to thru legal means.
