Knox sat down with Pat Lawless after the JBC and discussed the 5 schools left on his list. Stated all 5 have a legitimate chance and as previously mentioned he'll commit around the first of May. Here's what he had to say:

Missouri-Porter was his roommate at JBC and was in his ear all week long.
UNCheat-Jackson leaving allows him to start immediately beside Berry and Pinson.
Puke-Discused players K's coached like him who were successful. States him, Carter and Trent could win the National Championship.
FSU-Everyone left and Coach Hamilton told him that he'd give him the keys to the car.
Kentucky-Great overall school. Cal's been in his ear 24-7 and in his mind KP is the best assistant coach in the country. Loves all the players coming in and knows he has chemistry with them on/off the court due to the past three weeks.

For weeks I've been on the same page as everyone else and thought he's not coming to UK. With that said, I'm now going to go out on a limb and say that he's ours. Maybe he's telling the truth, everyone really does have a chance at this point and that he truly doesn't know where he's going. If so, I think we're the perfect fit for him and he chooses to come to UK to play with his friends under the best head/assistant coach in the country. In other words, I think he's this year's T Jones (Washington), N Noel (Georgetown), J Murray (Oregon), M Teague (Louisville), etc. Thoughts?

Go Big Blue!!!

idk, he's got that Xavier Henry mentality.

I know cal is still trying because he fits his style, but man I'd go with the pitt guy yesterday and say good luck Knox.

Not trying to be negative Nancy but I too think he goes elsewhere. The commitment of Vanderbilt cemented that, but I'm happy with our guy. Let him go to Missouri and play second fiddle to the greatest player to ever play at Missouri

What was Vanderbilt's comment? I missed it.

I gotta agree with most of you in the thread. After watching the 3 allstar games, I like Vanderbilts game much better than Knox's. I just hope his foot is ok. I can't see Knox coming here knowing that Vanderbilt has outplayed in the allstar games. I hope we can land Bamba & a knock down shooter & go after #9

I think he ends up a Tar Heel. Which is strange, because he's going to have little kids comparing him to one of the ugliest players ever (Meeks) every time they ask him for an autograph.

UK would have either Vanderbilt or Knox coming off the bench if he came to Lexington, which is insane. We're already loaded for bear. Just add Bamba or retain Bam at this point, and UK is a top 5 team, contending for a Final Four.

We're seven months away from the next season starting. Vanderbilt will be fine, and probably good to go by summer, even in a worse-case scenario.

Another Bolden playing Cal and UK fans IMO.Hope it doesn't cost us Johnson.

They're going after both Knox and Johnson. Your implication is that Cal can be played by a recruit. Did you forget he's recruited literally hundreds of kids in his time as a head coach.

Cal doesn't get played. He likely knows UK is a distant third, but you have to recruit the elite kid if there's a chance he could come.

Any Coach can get played.Bolden sure did.

Laughing at the comment that he Carter and Trent win a National Championship. I'm sorry but if Giles, Tatum, Jackson couldn't wait it with The Supporting Cast they had this year there's no way Knox and his posse would be able to Win It

Specifically, how? And further, how is Knox playing Cal, which was your original point.
Can't speak for that poster but it kind of seems obvious Bolden never was coming to UK and played games with us like following Brad on twitter. He kind of admitted it.That may have cost us Allen who turned out better than Bolden. Not saying Knox is doing this but with teens it's always a possibility.I think Randle did it to Kansas.

Duke needs much more than Knox, Carter and Trent to win the title. They don't make up for Tatum, Kennard, Jones, Giles, Jefferson, Jeter, Semi..

Coach K is selling recruits BS, as usual.

So you’re making a case that it was obvious to fans that Bolden was playing games, but we’re to believe Calipari had no clue that Bolden was walking the tight rope between Duke/UK?

I can’t think of many UK fans who ever felt overly confident about Bolden. Duke was always in play. I’m not sure how Calipari could have been blinded by confidence in landing Bolden, which was a point some posters made in this thread.

K losing Jefferson/Jones is probably the most brutal aspect of that list - as least for K who places such a high value on veterans. Grayson Allen is his only true returning vet, and given Allen's terrible history as a failed team leader, that must horrifying to a coach who will be otherwise completely reliant on freshmen.

Where did you hear that UK had Johnson on campus?I haven't seen anything about it.

The bigger point is that some UK fans think this is actually true for Kevin Knox/Cam Johnson recruitment, in that it might cost us Johnson.

This assumes a massive point, namely, that Calipari is naïve enough to think he has a real shot on a kid who is seen by virtually everyone to be favoring at least two schools ahead of Kentucky. Generally speaking, these types of assumptions are ridiculous and place people on the periphery (like us fans who can't even get quotes right) in a position of "knowing" something a man who is actually in the primary spot of seeing the entire landscape (like Cal and his staff) and relegating him to a position of naivety and recruiting blindness.

Cal knows what's going on. We need to stop the notions of Knox potentially costing UK Johnson. Ultimately, we know less than 5% of what Cal presently knows, and that's being generous.

Maybe I am way off and haven't seen enough of him in other venues, but Knox has not been impressive in any of these games I've watched, including the Nike Hoop Summit game, which is really a competitive game.
I'm sure he is worthy of his ranking and hype, but I haven't seen anything yet to make me think he is. Not saying this because I don't want him at UK. Cal is after him hard so that's good enough for me. Just stating for myself what I have watched.

Johnson's not starting next year either way, and he's likely a 12 to 15 minute/game guy even if he does come to UK.

And you know this how????
This is what we know

This is what we know about Cam Johnson... A 6'8" guard who has played in the ACC for 2 years and has done very well in doing so. Averaged 12 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1 steal a game. Shot 81% FT and 42% from 3.
Those are outstanding stats for a guard who is on a team sharing shots with multiple other players. Not only is he a proven player but he is a guy who can switch out on D with his height and length. Stats show he is not a ball hog jacking up shots and shares the basketball playing within the team concept.

When both him and knox steps foot on campus Johnson is automatically the better player. Knox is looking for the end of the year to put his name in the draft so your not going to be getting a lot out of him.
This is what we know about Knox's production. 0 0 0 0 hasn't done anything or proven anything. The odds are of him coming in and averaging 15 a game is low and his 3pt shooting in HS as a senior is 35% as a Junior it was 33%. That is considerably lower than Johnson. Knox got a lot of his points in HS down low against much smaller guys. that isn't going to happen in college.
I'll take Johnson any day, every day and twice on sundays.

From interviews with Kevin, I think his favorite is Kentucky, but I think he's unconvinced we aren't overloaded at the 3, so he's trying to decide from amongst the rest.
