Well for whatever reason, linking tweets no longer works. Still, lineup looks same as yesterday.

By the way, it looked like Cottam hit 3 home runs yesterday off the bat. Amazed me that they all found a glove.

Ethan Small has a 2.99 ERA with more strikeouts than hits and innings pitched.

First two batters have taken Thompson to a full count+ including a walk, already at 15 pitches with one out.

Ridiculous. No way that Becker should have been that far towards second on a left handed hitter. That has to be a freaking out! Silly!

‪Mississippi State takes a 1-0 lead in the top of the first against UK’s Zack Thompson, who is clearly frustrated with HP umpire feeling he’s getting squeezed. After run scored, umpire warned him for saying something while backing up the plate. ‬

Heyer with the screw up there. Have to give a play at third. You're not getting that ball and the play is coming to the 3rd base side. Give Dawson the shortest route to an out!

Starting out behind the hitters every time is not a winning formula. He's not throwing strikes very often. When he does, they aren't making good contact at all. Maybe that's the key, don't throw strikes very often so you can sneak up on the hitter.

He's definitely not getting a generous strike zone. Tight as hell. UK also has to take advantage of that and grab some walks.

Beck bunts for a two out hit and Heyer bounces one up the middle. Runners at the corners. 2 outs.

Wow... wild pitch bounces off the catcher and then off of Squires. If it doesn't hit Squires then it's a run for UK.

‪End of 1: Mississippi State 1, #Kentucky 0. Mingione out on the field between innings to have word with third base umpire (crew chief maybe?) Strike zone that squeezed Thompson in top of the inning became noticeably wider in bottom as Cats strand two runners. ‬

Aklinski strikes out and UK tries to steal second and he is called safe, but batter interference is called on Aklinski and it ends the inning.

This is starting out the opposite of the way we need it to go. We get to prove whether we are competitive enough to win without our best stuff, like last night.

Homerism from me says that's a bad call. Catcher was well behind Aklinski and didn't hit him or change his throw because Aklinksi was in front of him.

Huge huge inning right here for Thompson. Got out of it quickly.

Thompson really pissed that umpire gives time to the hitter after Thompson's leg is up and he's coming home. Also upset about this strike zone.

Why is it that most teams seem to get the advantage call at home but Kentucky doesn't in any sport that I can think of? Thompson's strike zone is darn small and much smaller than Small's which isn't right just based on the name.
