Kentucky Offense Dissed By NFL Scouts

Stoops isn’t going to change anything on offense. It’s virtually been the same since he came here except for the Lynn Bowden QB year.
Little reason to be mad at Stoops for today's performance.
Hamdan had control, and it looked awful.
Only time we moved the ball is when I assume CMS got in there and ordered 11 runs in a row.

I'm not mad that Stoops won't change offense.
Disappointed he doesn't appear to know who to hire to do it right.

I agree but I do know we have had some good OCs whose hands were tied by Stoops wanting to control the clock and slow the tempo. Fact is at the end of the day, Football is essentially about lineman. On both sides of the ball. If you don’t win in the trenches your team usually sucks and we haven’t had the line for about three years now.

That's a huge assumption. But let's say that is true, I would be taking over if I was CMS. He's HC. Take responsibility.

And Stoops brought back Wolford.....what a “great” idea :chairshot:

This hire is guaranteed to end poorly. You should never ever hire back s guy that left under those circumstances.

In terms of hires, pushing out scang and yenser to bring back two mercenaries who previously stabbed you in the back are both easily two of the worst decisions of stoops career.

Wolford was a bad OL coach when he was here before and also at Bama, apparently the only reason he gets hired is for his recruiting. The only constant in the Big Blue Wall was was John Schlarman, was a great guy and we’d have to catch lightning in a bottle to get someone who compares.

Yeah, hiring a coach isn’t that good of a position coach just because he’s a good recruiter always works “greeeeaaat”. Just like T Martin was such a good WR coach for us ~ when he couldn’t solve issues with the wideouts because “he never played that position“

Little reason to be mad at the head coach who’s been here a dozen years for having one of if not the most embarrassing losses in history?

lol. That makes sense.

Did you give Calipari the same lame pass you are stoops? Head coach is always responsible for the good and the bad.

Boy, the parallels to the end of Cal's tenure are wild. NBA scouts were criticizing his offensive choices as well.

Stoops has to fix it quick or his time here is going to be over.
That performance by our offensive line last night was beyond embarrassing. A high school team blocking a NFL team would not have been any worse than what we saw out of UK last night. Considering who we were playing last night & to get man handled the way our O-Line did was worse than the Bill Curry days.

After yesterday’s showing, I’d be in favor of making Gran Co-OC but in reality he’s in control. Fans would’ve melted down but that’s probably the move Stoops should’ve made after Coen left. The Gran era was Stoops’ most successful.

He ain't going anywhere...just got a huge contract extension...just like Cal. THANKS again Barney!!
Oh I know, but it's like deja freaking vu from February. Our only hope is Stoops is miserable enough to just peace out. But just like Cal, I don't hate the man. And I don't want to get there with Stoops. Step up or step out. He doesn't even have to win the big games....just be competitive. We lose to Vandy this season (and that's a reeeeealll possibility with what we saw yesterday) the fanbase will be done.

Are you saying stoops doesn't know the offense his OC installed! He absolutely saw the offensive game plan. I'm sure he saw film on USC. That the most concerning thing, after 11 years, he can't identify a disaster coming to save his life!

You can't really push all blame away from Stoops for the offense....

1. He is the head coach...so he's responsible for all aspects of the team
2. This is what....7 OC in his tenure
3. Stoops has been here a decade....and this kind of crap offense has been at UK for multiple years now

I feel Bush is in over his head (there was a reason Mizzou bailed on him) and will fail. But Stoops keeps having bad offenses under his tenure.

Shane Beamer is to Stoops what Steve Spurrier was to Curry.

We won’t beat anyone left on our schedule other than the two scrubs if we play like we did yesterday, coaching and o-line personnel don’t automatically get better over 10-11 weeks. Biggest thing that bothered me yesterday was Hamdan’s inability to adjust when they were pinning our ears back; no play action when we were moving the ball on the ground, no slants or quick hitters, no screens, basically nothing.

The other thing is BV didn’t look comfortable at all. I know the D was on him quickly in most cases but he looked really uncomfortable to me, bolting as soon as he felt any pressure and there were instances when he could have stepped up in the pocket. I’ve watched enough football in my 60 years to know when a QB is playing scared and it only gets worse after a couple of sacks. He’ll play next week which is understandable and I’m not one of those guys who automatically think our second string guy is the better option but Wimsatt needs snaps, especially if the only way we can move the ball is on the ground and he’s capable of throwing the ball.

No doubt BV didn't play well. We saw this a bit with Levis too. I think they got on to him about running a bit. So without that option, he may have panicked a bit when the pocket collapsed. Hard to say. When they rushed 3 and got through, I knew the game was done.

If we have a crap OL, we have a crap OL. There's ways to combat it and scheme around it. Mike Leach did it a lot. It bothered me that there were no quick slant options to try to get BV some easy short throws to maybe settle him a bit. I know Leary wasn't great, but damn, I always thought Stoops and Co did him NO favors and asked him to run a system he wasn't good at. And to me, that's BAD coaching.

9M to get blown out by SC. It's gotta stop.
