Will K be able to produce similar results as he has in the past with more 1AD players on his teams? Does K attempt to get multiple elite players and their egos to fit his system or does he adjust to what these players do best?
K seems to be more of a system guy than a adjust-to-his-players type. Every year he seems to put a couple of elite players on the floor surrounded by what seems to be 15 or so 3-point shooter's. It's worked well for him so far.
If K does adjust his style each year to fit his new players, can he do it at the level Calipari does? I think not. I think K will fall somewhere in between; molding his insatiable desire for control, his not-so-subtle need for accolades, and his preferred style, with the uneven skill set of his new 1AD teams. The results will be good, very good at times, but uneven. We may never know how K performs long-term with the 1AD since he seems to be nearing retirement, but I don't think, over an extended period of time, that he would come very close to Calipari.
