Big Dog says “Don’t give up on us”

Says that good things are coming and to give Bush time to get his type of players, he inherited players that can’t run his system. Sounds like nothing will change after the season, we are just gonna have to Hope for better results next year. SMH
What system. I just don’t see any system that you can find 20 players in the transfer pool that can change Stoops.

It is fair to point out Bush's QB at BYU last year is Arkansas' QB who's lighting it up this year. Of course they've got greasy Bobby P calling the offense but still, what Vince says isn't entirely off base.

He’s not wrong about the system and as much as I think Stoops has hit his ceiling, I will die on the hill that having 4 offensive coordinators in 4 years is the reason we had a premature crash to the Stoops’ era.

Now, I don’t think he’s correct good things are coming. We have likely just 1 more win in a losing season after back to back mediocre 7-5 seasons. It’s not going to get any better next season if Stoops returns and even if he doesn’t, in football, you can’t portal your roster to victory. It’s going to be a rough few years for the football program in Lexington regardless of who’s in charge

So, what type of players does he need? And this doesn't apply to only Hamdan, but how come every single OC can't tweak his system to fit the players currently on the roster? Is that not part of coaching. At a program like ours, it's unlikely you will ever have all the 'type' of players that would ideally be suited for your system. Don't you have to work around some of these annual limitations? Tired of the excuses. Do your job and put a competent offense on the field.

Sounds like by saying wait to get the players, they are giving up on this year, coaching to the ability of your offense, heck let Gavin run the wildcat the rest of the year, ala many others at UK, lol. I am guessing he will not get enough guys by next year as well so we can go on and put another losing record on the books. Then maybe we will be ready?

Good coaching staffs figure things out enough to salvage a season, maybe not win like you thought but at least win more than you lose.

Eddie Gran tweaked us to 8-5 with a nice bowl victory without the luxury of an actual Qb. I always thought we should have kept him as OC.

So which current players would he get rid of

1. Barion/Dane at WR....want to go with what kind of guys? Smaller/slower guys?
2. Dingle/Kattus/Rodriguez/Anderson at TE? That makes no sense
3. Oline.....this is debatable....but no UK coach would not recruit high rated kids like Jager Burton. What kind of tackles are we imagining wold be better prospects?
4. RB....now maybe Bush wants a pure power back. I bet it Traynum were healthy he'd average the same yards per carry than Demi is getting (4.5 ypc). Good luck selling Wilcox was the problem....they gave him no shot and look stupid for doing so.
5. Then it comes down to QB. So we recruited Boley who is a passer not a runner at all. Stone Saunders is inked for 25 and is more dual purpose....like Brock V.. So which one is it?....they are both very different QBs

This smells like BS from Marrow. Outside of RB...we are not recruiting any tangible different players then currently on roster.

Arkansas has moved up 30 spots in ppg. Kentucky has dropped 61 spots. We are averaging 10 points less per game this year than last. Granted we lost a coordinator that is tearing it up in the NFL, we are still underperforming as a staff this year and it's not just a talent issue.

I feel like this is another “you know the definition of insanity” moment…….what are we doing differently to change the narrative?? Trot out the backup qb to air mail receivers by 7-10 yards?? Playing the same vanilla D so we can’t get off the field on 3rd down…….i mean how many yrs do we have to keep banging our head against the wall until we realize that hurts?

When they were never winning anything that mattered anyways not sure what there is to give up on.
I would like simply see our football team act like they can stay competitive and have a chance to win in the SEC. It's gotten embarrassing and damned tiring to have to watch one-step forward and two back year after year. The staff turnover is insane and there is a reason for it that won't likely ever be openly discussed. Too much money is being spent on football salaries and all to have such a poor result. Honestly, BBN deserves better ... a lot better. Again, they don't have to win every game but show us something we can be proud of and not be the damned laughingstock of the SEC. UKFB is the new Vanderbilt. What changed at Vandy? It's pretty obvious. Enough is enough.

Big dog needs a big pay cut.
That’s stupid. He is invaluable. One of the few on the staff that is. Do you like basketball? It was Vince that personally delivered jasper johnson to Kentucky. That dude bleeds bluer than all of us and has been a statesman for the football program. He could have went to bigger schools but stayed. He has brought in top 25 recruiting classes and none of us thought that was possible. Marrow slander should not be tolerated.

Then Stoops should’ve hired an OC that was compatible with the roster. He’s completely clueless on the offensive side of the ball. And it’s gotten so bad that his vaunted defense has given up trying.
100 percent correct!

It’s. It like we’re transitioning from wing T…we were trying to run a balance NFL offense scheme

Bush and Stoops have been bad this year…Brock was progressing and now he’s been a mess the last two weeks…now benching him for Tennessee…just awful coaching

He should start the rest of the year or transfer. You develop QB by playing and making mistakes. Sitting in a room watching film will not make a young QB better. Who was the QB that beat OLE MISS. The way to waste this year is bench him with who. Now if their are things going on that we don’t know about like the team wants another QB based on practice performance then the coaching staff are letting the inmates run the asylum.

To be honest, unless stoops leaves/retires on his own, the best case scenario for everyone is for Stoops to come back, have a 7-8 win season minimum, and then retire.

Stoops legacy stays relatively intact and he leaves on decent terms. We don’t have to run our all time winningest coach out of town. All the while we get to try to attract a new young coach to inject energy into the program and usher us into this CFB playoff NIL/era

You’re not wrong, but considering the players we lose to graduation and are likely to lose through the portal, I honestly don’t have reason for optimism that next season under Stoops will be better than this one.

Sigh……

The record eliminated you from the playoffs.
Only thing available is a six win shitty bowl game that I promise nobody's going to go to.... Unless it's in Nashville.
We gave up buddy. 85% of the fan base moved on to basketball after Saturday.
So y'all go on and do the best you can But nobody gives a shit the next three games.
We'll see you for the Louisville game

The best for UK football is fire him, hire another and if he fails fire his ass until you get it right. That is the attitude of almost every SEC team and why this low expectations attitude will fail in the SEC.

Fair point…but look who is likely to be gone next season

Defense
Walker
Dumas Johnson
Djack
Hairston
Weaver
Rybka
Ox
Childress ( not a loss to me)

Offensive
Key
Barion
DSK
Eli cox
M cox
Mincey (not a loss to me)
I can see Wilcox transfer given what staff is pulling with him
Maclin (but dude hasn’t called barely a ball in sec play)

I get we have some talent in defense that is young and there is alwys some portal….but the losses on defense are sizable

I don’t see a path to much more then six wins next year unless like a Coen OC comes in and whips this offense into shape (ain’t happening)

Maclin (but dude hasn’t called barely a ball in sec play)
To be fair they never target him. One play Saturday he was wide open across the middle for an easy touchdown and Brock threw the ball to Barion on the sideline who had double coverage for an incomplete pass. Just after that they showed the team on the sideline and Maclin was talking to someone sitting beside him and you could tell he seemed upset that he was open and they didn't even look his way.

This is the same guy that said UK was gonna win out after the Georgia game. Nothing but a hype man. If UK didn't have the offensive players for Bush's system then why the heck did Stoops hire him in the first place? Neither Bush nor Stoops have a clue. Its time to clean house.

Now all of the sudden the players don’t fit the system. Bush doesn’t run anything that complicated if they don’t fit then we just suck at recruiting. Just say the line sucks and the qb play isn’t good right now and we have to get that fixed. It’s not about the “system”.

Speed, athletic ability, confidence, (not cockiness) if I’m Brown, Anderson, Wilcox, Dingle was going to UT, I will hit the portal go to Tennessee and ball out. Not being used here. Hell Rodriguez as well.

It’s just narrative building Vince feeds when things aren’t going well. I don’t blame hamdan per se it’s been non stop with stoops. They’ll lay it on Coen leaving like it was Scangarello totally, then it was Wolford then it was…whoever. Same circle. Meanwhile we don’t have to look very far away to see teams that have revamped overnight by hiring people that get things done.
