Honestly thought Ole' Daggum would try to convince him to come back. This might entice Kevin Knox to jump on board and fill his role.

Smart move on his part. Even though it is likely a deeper draft than next year, his stock won't be higher next year (likely would be lower). Add in injury risk. He had to do it.

I'm sure if he was going, Roy wanted him to announce soon, to show Knox the position is his.

UNC and Duke are going to take some lickings next year, even if they land some collection of Knox, Bamba, and Duval..

Pretty sure it's just Knox. You know Roy is in berrys ear getting him to stay.
If I am Berry, I probably do return. He was hurt a lot last year and his stock is down big time. Not projected to be drafted, so it might be the smart play to return to school.

No doubt my honest opinion is that he should return. Doubt he will have a long career in the NBA but you never know. And next years draft is a lil weaker at the guard position.

Unfortunately, the same might be said for us too if we miss on Bamba and Bam doesn't come back which I don't think he will. We have talent coming in but no experience at all to speak of and would be missing some big guys inside with Hump now leaving too. Depends so much on what happens in the next month or so in regards to who will end up being here. Either way, we are going to be extremely young with no leadership, like never before in my opinion.

So true.

If this is the case, SKJ will have to come up huge for us next year and play like the kid who showed up early last year. IMO he starts if that happens with Richards as his back up.

I hope Jackson's decision is based on inside information that the NCAA is tuning up to start hammering the Cheaters

I'm more concerned about whether Knox will be influenced by this. But I still think UNC is not going to be punished to the extent that it will affect current players or recruits.

True, but we also have the #1 recruiting class coming in, by a decent margin.. If we land Bamba it turns into the best class in history (in some regards). That counts for something. Meanwhile UNC recruiting is awful and Kansas' isn't much better. Duke looks solid with two top10, but they aren't on Kentucky's level.

And while Freshman are always a mystery, keep in mind where we are every March: Right in the thick of it, with our Freshman rising to the top of all players. We finished 5th in the polls and God forbid the committee ever goes light on us, our freshman heavy teams are almost ALWAYS good enough to get us past the Final4.

DIallo, Green, Richards, Vanderbilt, Washington.. We just need 2, maybe 3 of these guys to play to their ranking, just like Monk and Fox did.. if our freshman are as good as billed, come March, then we are always a very dangerous team.

I like Kentucky's chances better than any of the other big programs for next year.

We believe that no matter who we have coming in.[banana][banana][banana][banana]

I don't. Many don't. There's only a handful of fans here who automatically think we are the best team no matter what.

I didn't think there was any way Duke DIDN'T walk to the Final4 this year. I knew Kentucky had trouble the year prior without a functioning front court, especially after a 38-0 season where everyone left. The last two years were going to be tough, and yet we still grabbed a #2 seed and went to the Elite 8 this past season. My only misstep was Gabriel.. thought he was going to be a much better defender and didn't think he'd struggle..

I'm more confident this coming season (in part because so many other teams had mass exodus') than I was the last two.

Not sure where the Knox to UNC mold was made. I haven't micromanaged the details but I could see Knox + Bamba with Cal.

30 for 30 tonight and Knox is with a couple of our guys for next year.

I still like our chances; that kid has some serious length.

Now hearing Mizzou is the likely destination, fwiw.

Right now I just don't see us getting him but I do not ever count out cal.
