Justin Jackson Entering Draft, Hiring Agent.

Knox is one of my favorites in this class but it's just not a need for KY. We a bigger need at this time. We will be fine with our without Knox. I would be tickled if we did but we are good at SF.

Right now I just don't see us getting him but I do not ever count out cal.

I don't either.. but he seems to have an issue pulling kids away from Duke and UNC.. probably because of shady recruiting.. Cal kills it against many smaller schools and also taking kids like Monk and Noel from hometowns with a big pull...

Could be wrong.. seems tough to grab Duke/UNC leans.. a guy like Barnes comes to mind..

Who in the past have we REALLY wrangled away from Duke/UNC? It seems a tough out.

Wall, Bam, Randle, Knight, Gabriel and Poythress, come to mind.

It's tough because we don't really overlap often. They don't target many of our guys. Carolina hasn't landed anyone good besides Bradley in a couple of years because Roy knows they'll all stay to get their degree.

It isn't often we're in the final 2-3 with those schools just because one or the other usually blinks first and goes after a new target.

Conversely, who did they beat us for?

Unfortunately, the same might be said for us too if we miss on Bamba and Bam doesn't come back which I don't think he will. We have talent coming in but no experience at all to speak of and would be missing some big guys inside with Hump now leaving too. Depends so much on what happens in the next month or so in regards to who will end up being here. Either way, we are going to be extremely young with no leadership, like never before in my opinion.

Yep. That's why I'm on the Cam Johnson train rather than Knox train. Knox may be the better talent but it's not certain he would be much better than Johnson would be as junior this year. Add that in with the experience and other intangibles that Johnson brings on board and I'm all on that bandwagon. Sign him up Cal! Bamba and Johnson to finish out the class!!

Wall and Bam come to mind as they were right in UNC's backyard.

Wait wait wait.. Wall is an interesting scenario.. he was on board with Cal from day 1 it seems.. and wasn't Bam more of an NCState lean? Neither of those guys strike me as heavy Duke/UNC guys. I do remember Gabriel being a strong Duke guy, though..

Luke Kennard comes to mind for Duke.. X Henry and Wiggins come to mind for Kansas.. Actually, in terms of who we lost to, recruiting wise, Kansas seems to have done the best job against Cal/Kentucky..

Word making the rounds is that Knox has some interest in playing with Porter. Not sure if that trumps playing for a big time program (UK, UNCheat) though. He's almost certainly a OAD, why not ,maximize your time in the spotlight?
On a side note, what is it with Cuonzo Martin? Why is he able to pull big name talent to whatever program he is currently at? Very curious. However, it may be nothing...a good father-type relationship he offers similar to Kenny Payne. Hard to figure.

Seems like it is about even to me,you got Gabriel last year who we were very high on

I think Knox will likely end up with the cheaters BUT I wonder in the back of his mind could he be thinking what the NCAA ruling is going to be against UNC cheaters.

You think Briscoe struggled to shoot outside? Did you watch Pinson? Ekkkkkk, he has a bad, bad jump shot. They won, and won with friends with benefits on the court this time around.

As for Knox, what's he waiting for with UNC? There's plenty of space available. We'll see just how big a lean he is when its over, but he will regret the Mizzou choice. Martin's not flipping that team to a contender in one year.

If I am Berry, I probably do return. He was hurt a lot last year and his stock is down big time. Not projected to be drafted, so it might be the smart play to return to school.

Return to UNCheats to play basketball. Don't confuse UNCheats with school!

I'm glad Jackson is gone. I wish he had gone pro last year. He is a damn good player on both sides of the ball and a big reason if not the biggest reason they won the championship.

I haven't heard anything about those guys in a long time.

Just one more reason why I scratch my head at why anyone would go anywhere else but Kentucky right now.

No doubt my honest opinion is that he should return. Doubt he will have a long career in the NBA but you never know. And next years draft is a lil weaker at the guard position.
I don't think it matters how deep the guard pool is, Berry isn't an NBA level player. If he were, he would already be there.

Nice to see Roy let one go pro a whole year early.

I heard he's trying to talk Meeks into coming back 1 more year.

Kid was a 5 star and the 11th ranked recruit in his class...it took Roy 3 years to get him to play to his potential of what others could have gotten out of him in year 1. Don't get me wrong, he's damn good...but that just shows you the difference in player development when ppl cry about ppl leaving here after a year...they play to their potential much faster

Kinda surprised about jackson- thought his education was more important to him and that's why he went to uncch.

I saw him play in high school with Justice Winslow and Kelly ombre and was convinced that he was going to be an All-American one and done. He was so much better than those other two were at the time. I think he would have been drafted higher out of high school than he will now. He lost money and didn't improve his draft stock staying at UNC IMO.
