JRob and Butler return to practice

Rust isn’t a huge factor lol guys don’t forget how to play or lose a large amount of conditioning that quickly. They are still working out.
That might be the most incorrect statement I have read in a long, long time.
I am assuming you have played sports at some point in your life, if you actually believe this, that tells me you have only ever played rec league type sports.

I can’t speak on butlers injury but Robinson injury is very hard to play through. It’s literally his shooting wrist and it takes a couple of weeks to come back from that
How long has Robinson been gone? It would seem to me that an injury to the shooting wrist might
require easing back into playing, which would involve some playing before getting back to some
where near normal. I'm sure he has been receiving therapy on a daily basis. If he has returned to
practice working out soreness and stiffness would seem to be the next logical step. Playing is
about the only way to do that. It might take 3 or 4 games for him to be somewhere near his normal self

The rotation will be cut when the tournaments roll around. Don’t have your hopes up of seeing much of Perry or Noah/Almonor once Robinson and Butler are available.
Disagree. Pope has already talked about widening the rotation rather than shrinking it. I think he sees an opportunity to develop his entire roster and beat teams in stamina. I do expect bench minutes to slightly decrease but I expect most everyone to play based on his own words

I think it’s been 2 weeks.

Not to let facts get in the way, but since 1985:
4 seeds have 243 wins
5 seeds have 180 wins
6 seeds have 163 wins

I’ll take the 4 seed.
yeah because I rather face Duke, Auburn, bama or Florida, instead of the 2 or 3 seeds. But hey you take those facts and go whatever way you want.

I think what is important is the SECT and NCAA. I think both of them need to come back for the last or last 2 games of the year. Yes we need them. It would be terrible if they play and get reinjured. Then our chances for any kind of run is over.

Saw an interview with one of the American Hockey players. He was calling out the other pro sports and athletes, mainly NBA. Said there's a difference between being hurt and being injured. he said hockey players take a beating, they're all sore and hurting. if you have a legit injury, that's one thing, if you're sore and aching or bruised but not broken, then suck it up buttercup and get your butt out there. I think Robinson and Butler obviously had legit injuries, Robinson's wrist affects his shooting, a huge part of his game, as with Butler's Shoulder. but if they have progressed to something that can be played through then tape it up and get out there.

I think Pope will push them to get out there, but Cow sure as hell wouldn't.

Historically,
4 seeds have 49% more wins than 6 seeds;
4 seeds have 35% more wins than 5 seeds

But your logic is way better.
This assumes a 4 seed is seeded properly and is actually a better team than the 5 and 6 seeds. That is why they win more. UK will not be a better team as a 4 seed than they are a 5 or 6 seed. That being said, if you avoid playing a 1 earlier, I can understand the point @Dontworryboutit23 is making.

God help us if one of these two gets injured tonight, or against LSU, there will be several "I told you so" threads, even if they injure a different area of their body.

Surprised to see the attitude of we need them for the tournament let them sit these games.

If they can practice, they are in theory good to go.

We are fighting for seeding. We need those players especially during Auburn.

Without really knowing the extent of the injuries, every minute they play is another chance of re-injury. We've seen this happen to both of them several times this year. The main goal for me is to make a sweet16 and maybe beyond. That likely can't happen without them. So while I'd love for them to play every game, they are clearly banged up, playing through an injury that needs to be addressed in the off season.

Playing them against Auburn and having them tweak something again, is kind of like winning the battle only to lose the war.

It does seem both of them will be good to go by the SECT (Butler sooner) but I'd much prefer them to be on a minutes restriction and possibly be given more time.. because even if more time doesn't make the injury heal, It DOES remove the chance of injury in a very aggressive SEC.

You play them while you can. Butler can reinjure his shoulder while toasting a bagel in the lodge tomorrow morning.

Robinson could reinjure his wrist opening a door, so it is what it is, you play them while you can as long as they have been cleared to go.

Saving them for the tournament is cool and all, but what if they get hurt in the first 5 minutes of our first round game? That means we sat them and lost to Oklahoma, Auburn, Mizzou and the first game of the SECT for nothing.

Otega Oweh, the Cats’ leading scorer, met with reporters Tuesday and struck an optimistic tone on Butler and Robinson. “They looked good,” Oweh said of their participation in Monday’s practice. “I know they’re trying their hardest to get back out there. I mean, they look good. They’re working really hard, doing a lot of rehab, stuff like that. So I feel like it’s only a matter of time to get back out there.”

It's a gamble either way. So I understand that we could rest them for nothing just to see them fall on ice outside the arena. Still, it's clear these are nagging injuries where even a slight tweak to it *may* mean they are out another 3 weeks.

It does seem both are trending very well now. Based on both being probable tonight (maybe Pope is just extra cautious with his wording on injuries).. so I'm more open to them playing a bigger part of these remaining games. But I'd still like to maybe see a minutes restriction and possibly given a night off if we win some of these next few games. Their injuries both occurred because SEC teams were allowed to assault them, and that worries me.
