Matthew langhi 6ft5 small forward soph marshall co

Dad played for vandy . We need to get on this kid
I agree, he's as complete a player fundamentally as any sophmore as any I've seen that size in a long time. He 's probably going to going grow a couple more inches, if he does, with his speed and agility he would be a nightmare to contain ss a small forward or shooting guard. I assume all the big time schools will be after him in a couple of years. He's more impressive in person than on film, I've seen him live a couple times.

I still harbor great anger about the incompetent 2000 committee. (Vanderbilt was well above the bubble, like an 8- or 9-seed, in all reasonable projections. But the committee didn't plan for Arkansas to win the SECT and had already exchanged political favors to get a crappy at-large in from each midmajor conference with representation. Needless to say there was no SEC member, which will never happen now with the rule changes.)

CBS listed Dan Langhi among "players to watch" in the upcoming tournament on the day of the selection show, for crying out loud!

Anyway since Dan had his shot at the tournament taken away I'll be cheering for his son even if he does go to UK. :)

Marshall County has a long history of sending kids to Vandy. Barry Goheen, Langhi, and Dan Hall all went to Vandy from Marshall County in the 80s and 90s.

Ksr mentioned him yesterday and hope we can snag all the d-1 talent in the state every time there’s a kid that can play at that level. Definitely someone that sounds like he will look good in blue.

Unfortunately I don't think he's going to be a good fit here. I don't think he's going to grow that much more and he isn't nearly fast enough to play on the wing in the SEC. Good talent and great high school player, but his game would likely be better suited for a mid major.

Of course I would of likely said that about either of our current Kentucky boys, so I am probably wrong.

Marshall Co. Dan played at Vandy in the 90's. Betsy Layne Dan played at UK in the 70's before transferring to Marshall University.
How the hell is that still in my brain when I can’t even remember why I went into the kitchen, lol . I wish I could replace all the useless crap with something productive.

The Boozer twins didn't already make you feel that way?

Since Carlos is younger than Langhi, it probably should've but didn't somehow...

maybe b/c I've been reading/hearing about them for quite a while...and Boozer's name was around so much longer due to his stint in the NBA. Whereas Langhi's name was just lost in the mental archives somewhere

How would anyone that hasn’t seen X-rays of his growth plates know if he was going to grow anymore, lol . Kind of a weird thing to say .

This is why I’ve been saying for decades that we need a much bigger field. Not to let any more little schools in, but to let in all the worthy P5 schools that get screwed every year to make room for the automatic bids.

He’s not a middle schooler, he’s sixteen years old. The Anthony Davis’s of the world who hit another growth spurt late in their teen years are few and far between. What a weird thing for you to comment on. 🙄

Key being "at that level". It looks like Pope likes to play a fairly deep bench, so the team can't afford to have guys on the bench because they were born in Hazard and "know what it means to be a Kentucky Wildcat".

He is still growing. Dad was similar size as a sophomore. Matthew is more athletic & a better overall player as a sophomore than his dad. He can shoot the 3 but not elite from 3 yet like his dad was. Matthew's mid-range game & ball handling skills are far above his dad's at this stage. His dad grew to 6-11 & had the skills of a guard. If Matthew continues to grow like his dad did, this kid will end up in the NBA like his dad. If not, he will still be a great college player & play some level of pro ball.

Who cares where they are from in the state, if they’re d-1 talent and can contribute then why would he not go after them?? Idc where you’re from, if you can play and from the state then why shouldn’t he be recruited???

didn't realize his dad grew to 6'11, just remember hearing him listed as 6'9

To " know what it means to be a Kentucky Wildcat" is the same as Clark Kent when he comes out of a phone booth. These types give a little extra and definitely play for the name on the front.
