Mark Pope is my coach now and I will back him 100%. If anybody is still butt hurt that Calipari is no longer our coach, well they can just start cheering for the red pigs.
For some odd reason, a few here enjoy watching UK fans get upset more than they do be happy. Misery wants company? Rival fans in disguise?! It will be obvious who they are as the season moves along.Mark Pope is my coach now and I will back him 100%. If anybody is still butt hurt that Calipari is no longer our coach, well they can just start cheering for the red pigs.
I’m not, his staff got worse and he replaced his best offensive coach ever with Brad. He lost Antigua on top of it. I just don’t see Calipari adjusting to the modern game without help again. He even reverted when he wa still on staff and I believe it’s why he left so quick.I think one thing we're all discounting is his staff. They will decide if he flourishes or fails. They did here.
Could not care less is the phrase.I could care less about him ! We are UK !
That has basically been said almost every year for the past 4-5 and the results have been the same.Cal has been humbled he’s capable of doing some things when dialed in
And he talks in a stream of consciousness that nearly always has him ending far from where he started. He rarely makes good, concise points. He has only gotten worse as he’s gotten older and more cal/cow like.He has become so confused that he mixes up cliches in ways that makes absolutely no sense. Now, he simply sounds like a babbling old man who can no longer accurately remember his favorite cliches.
People keep saying that but if the fountain of money was so deep don’t you think their football would have been better? Plus, Pope has already beat him twice for recruits hasn’t he?Not as long as he has John Tyson and Wal-Mart on his side. Money talks.
Let’s be real when Pope was first announced as the hire a lot of UK fans and I mean a lot thought UK could do better. By doing better I mean going out and getting the more experienced coach with the better resume because of the UK name. Everyone knows how Mitch is when it comes to doing his homework, making hires, and giving out his nice contracts so trusting him isn’t really high on every UK fans list. Most every UK fan is behind the hire after everyone sit back and gave it a chance to settle in.But he is right about you hating the Pope hire.
Spend a lot of time in Arkansas…he is not the daily talk in Arkansas. He's got a top 2025 kid on board. I think he's doing fine. He'll be hailed as a godking in Arky because of the novelty. He replicates his first UK years at Arky, and he'll be fine. Continue the UK pace, and not so much.
Poor guy, ya hate to see it…..😂Spend a lot of time in Arkansas…he is not the daily talk in Arkansas.
Cal should have walked when UCLA called. Turns out that was his last chance to coach a big program .Why are you presuming that’s an option?
No “larger gigs” than Arkansas are interested in Calipari nowadays. If he could’ve gotten one then presumably that’s where he would’ve jumped to instead.
Me too, until he starts making not so subtle digs at us and our program (he can't help himself)I choose to appreciate Cal pulling us out of BCG’s shithole of a situation super fast and enjoy all the talent he brought in. There were some amazing wins during his time and as we all know, some equally disappointing losses. I hold no animosity towards him and wish him well in his future endeavors.

I am not sure I want his name in the rafters, as I believe the University wasn’t his first priority but I do agree it’s to soon for some to appreciate the good years he had here. If he had left after 2012 some would remember him as the GOAT while others would be mad he left after that. There’s really no winning when discussing a coach leaving. In 15 years Cal will be celebrated and remembered fondly here and have his name in the rafters. It’s just too soon right now as he just left for a conference rival and took half the team with him. People now remember Pitino and Tubby fondly and as someone who’s been posting here since 2001 I can very confidently tell you that was not always the case.

Probably so.I think any coach that wins a title should have his name up there personally
He will at some point be in the rafters, time removed.Probably so.
If it is only money, why does their football team suck consistently? It is more complex than money. Not as long as he has John Tyson and Wal-Mart on his side. Money talks.
I can't speak on football, but there are a lot less players on a basketball team to spend large amounts on. Only a month after Cal was hired, Arkansas signed the best player in the transfer portal for an NIL deal worth over $1 mil.If it is only money, why does their football team suck consistently? He will get players, but he got players here. That doesn’t mean he will do anything with that talent though. We have all seen how unprepared and out of sync we were, and his staple of defense has gotten way worse the past 6-7 years. If doesn’t have a shot blocker, he doesn’t defend well. This new trend of multiple ball handlers and shooters renders his defensive style kinda weak if he doesn’t have a massive talent advantage, and even then it fails when it matters. Look at the Oakland game. Not as long as he has John Tyson and Wal-Mart on his side. Money talks.
One of the best players yes, but not the most expensive and not ranked number one by most people. That would be Kadary Richmond.I can't speak on football, but there are a lot less players on a basketball team to spend large amounts on. But will he start them?he had top 10 talent last year.
oh yea and the year before.
oh wait the year before also
and the player of the year
but i say he returns to glory at the pig pen........lol
Point taken. I will take solace in the fact it is still Cal coaching them.I can't speak on football, but there are a lot less players on a basketball team to spend large amounts on. Where does he coach? In the words of Depeche Mode “Enjoy the Silence”

Hope you don't mind that I borrowed your image. Please ignore my awful drawing, but I thought some might want to know what Cal was uttering.Out of sight, out of mind.
