The ones that are open to coming back will enter so that they can be re- recruited by the new coach and may up their NIL in doing so.

This makes 3 guys who were still on the team, along with 2 who weren't. Of the 5 freshmen they signed this year, only 1 remains on the team.

• 2 freshmen (Curtis Williams, Kaleb Glenn) already entered portal - Traynor makes 3 active players who have entered portal.
• A 3rd freshman, Dennis Evans, was "no longer medically cleared to play at UL" but is in the portal to play somewhere else........ try to make sense of that.
• Juco Koron Davis never played and was kicked off the team in a confusing spectacle as UL announced he was transferring and Davis responded that he wasn't. Then he was kicked off and entered portal.
• And of course their best freshman recruit, Trentyn Flowers, never made it to campus and went pro in Australia instead.

It's not that Cal doesn't recruit Kentucky kids, he doesn't really recruit 3-stars. Most Kentucky kids are 3-stars. In order to win, he has to have ELITE talent. Sorry to burst your bubble, but there is not a lot of that ELITE talent coming out of the Commonwealth. However, he has already offered Jasper Johnson(5*) and Malachi Moreno(4*).

I missed that Jovanovich is also transferring. So 5 departures after the season to go along with Davis who left midseason and Flowers who never showed up.
