Jeff Goodman Says Kansas Will Beat Kentucky This Season

Kentucky will blow them out again. Late Jan the Cats will be in mission mode. Good luck Jayhawks, these Wildcats will be off/in/running.

Our guards are a big improvement this year as opposed to last.

Trey lyles is as replaceable a player as there can be.

Only thing I'll miss is end of the year kat.

Ouch! Dude, be nice.

Our guards are different. Big improvement? We can hope, I guess. About midway of the SEC, we'll be missing their physicality. If we get two more final fours out of this crew though, I'll be a happy camper.

Trey deserves better too. He had a bit of a slow start due to injury but he came on very well. We'd have been sucking wind without him after Poythress went down.

I do agree on KAT. He was coming into his stride by end of season.

We should be good, but superior to the 2015 where the Harrisons, Lyles, WCS and KAT were key components? 38 - 1. Final Four. Those are tall orders for any team, particularly 38 wins. That number of wins is without parallel in the history of college basketball. To beat that, this years team must also rise to history levels. That said, yeah, I think we beat Kansas in their house.

I like Coach Rupp! Once a Jayhawk, Always a Jayhawk! But, you do get banned quickly here if you don't drink the Kool-Aid. Seen it happen. I am sure someday it will happen to me.
You're a dumbass.

This is one of the hardest boards for opposing dumbasses, such as yourself, to get banned on that I've ever seen.

BTW: regardless of this game's outcome, KU is UK's bitch, and always will be.

Go hang a helms banner and stfu.

methinks it's kinda early to predict what either team is going to do just yet. I know next to nothing about KU this year - and probably won't even bother to watch them until about 2 weeks before our game.

I want to see how our team is going to mesh and what kind of games we win prior to the KU game. We do have some pretty big matches to worry about well before January.

Perhaps, on Jan. 30, we might witness Skal or Jamal Murray pull-off another Kevin-Durant-in-Allen-Fieldhouse type of performance (2007):

Below is a link to an article about the amazingness and significance of Durant's AFH performance, with quotes from Durant's father, Bill Self, several sports-writers, and from an awe-struck Danny Manning, who himself was 'a one-man show' (before his career-altering, nba, rookie-season knee injury). Manning's still the ncaa men's 10th-place all-time scorer (and best 'passing big man' I've ever seen). (Note: In the 1988 championship game, he had 31 points, 18 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 asts, and 2 blocked shots.):

http://www.kansan.com/sports/rememb...07b-26a4-533f-8881-b6b2699b7f30.html?mode=jqm

Video highlights of that 2007 Durant game:

Or, perhaps Murray will pull a "Peeler":

In 1992, Mizzou's Anthony Peeler went to AFH and hung 43 on KU:

Note: Purdue's Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson hung 44 on KU, back in the 1994 NCAA Tourney (NOT in Allen FH)(Purdue won by 5), but Robinson suffered a back injury at the end of that KU game and, in Purdue's next game, vs. Duke (an Elite Eight match-up), he didn't move well and scored only 13. Of course, Duke went on to win, then play for the title (where they lost to Arkansas).

Ummm. We won those Texas games.

If UK can go into an insane AFH, against a team that has revenge on their mind from the beat down last season and win, all I can say is we would be definite title contenders.

Not many win there, most are legit but they are known to get a very favorable whistle. I even saw a game Selden was hustling for a loose ball and clearly stepped out of bounce by the scorekeepers table and KU got the ball. There isn't much room on the baselines at all, hope no players are injured.

And so it begins. Months before the game you blame the refs. Always blame the refs.

Fact is with both coaches at a Blue Blood program, it is Calipari 3 Self 0. It will be very hard to get the 4th. In fact it would surprise me, very hard place to play. UK coming to town gets how much attention? KU fans are paying how much for tickets? UK moves the needle, that is why the national sports writers are already covering the game.

22-6 all time, Caipari is 3-0 vs Self with both at historic programs. Fact is, this is their Super Bowl.
This isn't even the most important game for UK.
Will Kansas fans storm the court if they win? 22-6 and 3-0 is pretty much a domination.
UK has won 79% of our games vs KU's winning percentage of 21%. Court storming would be in order but KU fans think differently. Like the bread banners. I respect their program, but have some class and throw those away.
I worry Duke may catch us in National Championships. Unbelievable- K has 5 and will be absolutely loaded next season. If he gets the 6th, I would put him over Wooden if not already.
Key injuries have possibly cost UK 2 more in Cal's reign. WCS would have tormented UConn guards and protected the rim. Poythress would have made a huge difference s Wisconsin.

OK. I'm done. Ban me.

There is no comparison between Self and Cal.

Each has won one. You bash Self for his early exits, but he has never been beaten by Robert Morris in the NIT, because he has never ****ing been in the NIT.

Cal had the best team in decades last year (do you dispute this?), and lost to a team that did not win it all!!

He lost to a team that lost.

I have been a respectful guest until now. But the KU/Bill Self bashing has gone too far.

Ban me. See you in the Phog.

Truthhound, they are allowed to bash KU/Self because it is their fan board. The moderators allow non-KU fans to respectfully argue the counterpoint. That draws clicks and that helps this site with ad revenue.

You meltdown like KU plays UK under Self.

Your "ban me" quotes reminds me of how Self's KU players also gave up last year during that beatdown.

And it won't be the beat down you received last year. Hell, it won't even be like the title game a couple of years ago.....also Sally. We'll see you in Rupp next year.

Also, little woman, If you're not banned tonight (which you probably won't be), We'll see you tomorrow here again. Along with all the other KU fans that sign up with rival names to only post on UK's board.

You guys are funny.

To a point. I have know five KU and two Michigan State posters banned on Rupp in the last six months after respectful arguments. Rupp is the easiest board to banned on except for maybe UNC.

Why are you guys still here? Is it that important? Isn't Missouri your rival? Oh wait, they didn't pull down your pants and spank you on national television like we did and you're here to save face.

I guess you guys are a bit slow, but you're not saving face now.

Clive,
Chill. I asked a simple question on another thread. I made a simple statement of fact here. You seem a little obsessed.

You're the one man welcoming committee for anyone non-Kentucky now aren't you? Why you so insecure about other people's opinions?

Self has had Zero final fours vacated. Cal has had two. Two!!!

What did you all think of Cal when he was at Memphis?

Exactly. That is the truth.

So what Cal has had 2 vacated, if the NCAA would fairly enforce the rules, KU would have to vacate every game Cliff Alexander played in, He admitted "we needed the money" he knew all along and I guarantee his signature is on the loan papers. McLemore was even worse, comped a runner turned agent seats in AFH that were approved. His "poor" mother was flying around the country to games. The expensive birthday party. 10K to the AAU coach to guide him to KU.
Guarantee if car rental records were checked in St Louis area he was from, you will find many to transport people to the big birthday bash. I saw pics on twitter and all the "thanks Ben" and references to weed. These were scrubbed. Surely car rental places would have records with his runner's name. Became Ben's agent after the draft for 1 season, then Ben changed. I guess he got repaid.
Cal loses 2 FF ok, but things being more even at a blue blood Cal has 4 (twice as many as Self who has been at KU 12 seasons).

Take your bald headed coach and go home. The king of the choke job, a national reputation for it.

Lame. Sounds like a b^%#}*attempt at being banned.

Ya know, for those of us that have watched your little shit program try and duplicate UK, this is super rich. I mean, your coach has CONSISTANTLY, in the open, tried to mimic Calipari and UK. And you come here with this crap?

Your time is bette suited for trying to figure out why Kansas is stuck below Uconn in titles but just ahead of San Francisco by 1. Just for a comparison, UK has their 3rd title in 1958. That's how real UK fans feel about your cheating ass program. Try and win a title clean for once.

You're right there is no comparison. Cal is far superior. Cal has had zero final fours vacated as well. Umass and Memphis had final fours vacated, not Cal. He was not involved period. I thought Cal was great at Memphis. By the way, who was bahing Self?

****A TON of those 22 victories have been before most of the posters on here were either a) born or b) old enough to actually "follow" or pay attention to college basketball.

Why not give the numbers since say the mid to late '80s. I doubt it would look NEARLY so lopsided.

For example, I started following college ball ~ '85 - the 'nova over G'town Championship.

From '85 on UK ONLY holds a 6-5 head-to-head edge. It was dead-even before the blow-out of last year over the previous 30 YEARS!!!!

THIS was also one of KU's losses during the streak...they were like a 6 or 7-seed losing to a 2 or 3-seeded UK team in Overtime. Somehow Ryan Robertson went off for 31 pts.?!?!?:

http://www.bigbluehistory.net/bb/statistics/Games/19990314Kansas.html

Great game.....KU had no answer for Padgett.

You guys like to brag about that head-to-head edge, yet the majority of the Wins were during a real "down" period for KU basketball across their history (the '70s). In the period from '69 to '84 when they played almost continuously, KU was 2-14 but they were also ranked higher than 18th only 5 of those 16x.....not like the KU of today where you pretty much can be guranteed that they'll be no worse than Top 15....more often Top 5-10. Heck, they were freakin' UNRANKED for 9 of those 16...so yeah, not exactly comparable programs at that time.

What's their record again? Don't hide behind Memphis...Actually go ahead. Cal still dominates.

**Um, not really.

You take away Self's time at Low D. I Oral Roberts since Cal never coached at that level and simply compare Cal at UMass, Memphis & UK vs. Self at Tulsa, Illinois & KU and Self wins in Winning % (mid-majors & higher) =

0.796 vs. 0.781

Not sure why anyone would care what Jeff Goodman says or does. He is a below average writer and a dismal interviewer who was lucky enough to get a job in the media. Probably got his initial start in media due a friend.

As for the Kansas fans, call us when you have a few more national championships. Until you get a few more you are a buzzing gnat. Your reliance on Big 12 conference titles for respect is kind of amusing. We beat the mighty Kansas state again this year. We beat Texas. Yay! Kansas is great! uh ok...

The measure of the greatness of a college basketball program is more than how many national titles you have one, but many other factors including contribution to the history of the sport. National Titles are what you have taken from the sport, not what you have given. In overall contribution to the game, I would say that Kansas is more than a buzzing gnat.
