Jeff Goodman Says Kansas Will Beat Kentucky This Season

I'd be pissed if he said otherwise, frankly. I don't expect to leave with a W, but that won't in any way be a reflection on our potential.

They have to be pissed after last years embarassment. And Cal always says, anger turns to fear quickly. Can't wait to get this season started. GO CATS!

Shocking that Jeff "Douche" Goodman has something negative to say about UK.

I met him at a game last year - talk about one of the all time biggest goobers and douches that has ever lived. Wow, he was a tool.

And not one person is surprised by this. Marble mouth probably picked Kansas to beat us last year.

I dunno. I think if Poythress is hitting on all eight and the Freshmen are finding their stride, that will be a much better game for the Cats than he thinks. We've got a returning point guard that won't rattle so easily and an outstanding defender in Poythress if he's healthy. I'm gonna hedge my bet a bit and say we'll need Skal eligible but that should be perfunctory.

As much as it makes my stomach churn, I see the Duke game as a much greater challenge than Kansas. Earlier in the season, we'll have freshmen finding their place and Poythress testing his legs.

Frankly, I don't know why I'm bothering to comment. Goodman would not be on my top ten list of talking heads for predicting game outcomes.

Goodman is always on the lookout for his good buddy Bill Self. I would almost expect him to call Kansas the underdog, only as a way to pump up Self as the greatest coach in the history of ever if Kansas pulls off the home win in late January.

:flush::flush::flush::flush::flush::flush::flush::flush::flush::flush::flush::flush:

You guys act like he picked us to lose at Kansas State Technical Institute or something.

We have a completely new group here, playing on the road early in season, in one of the most difficult places to win. Oh yeah, and against a top 5-10 team (depending on which ranking service you use).

It's not that big of a stretch to say we will lose that one.

Isn't the game in January? That's not really early in the season.

We always have a new group, I feel pretty good about our chances. We could very well lose that game but I really don't think we will.

Skal, Murray, Ulis, Briscoe, Poy

That's a lot of talent in our lineup man, fvck Kansas.

January isn't early. I would agree with JG if it was in November or December but you really don't want to pick a fight with UK beyond December.

That's what Lewisville said....

I'm expecting kansas' wad will be ready to blow at Allen comparably to wisconsins' in last years f4.

I enjoyed the lede including "the numbers certainly tilt heavily in favor of Kansas in this one", followed by the prediction of a 3 point win.

I think Jeff is one of the most insufferable college basketball analysts on the planet, mostly because he takes his dislike of Cal out on teenagers, but this assessment didn't really bother me at all.

They are at home, have more experience coming back, and will get a significant FT advantage...so yeah, I'd lean towards KU myself. That is the one game on our schedule I'm expecting us to almost lose. @Vandy, @A&M and @LSU won't be picnics either due to home cooking.

What that scumbag says is of no consequence whatsoever; we all know he hates UK, so screw him.

That said, yep, it will be a tough game, and they will have revenge on their mind, but while KU will field a very good team, UK won't be a cupcake either.

I honestly feel like this game will come down to the last possession.

Cats by 2.

What is the dislike between the coaches about? He just as well be Self's taint and most know some stuff.

Evidently not, you've managed to stick around even after all the Adolph Rupp remarks. UK fans are more apt to get banned here than visitors.

I like Coach Rupp! Once a Jayhawk, Always a Jayhawk! But, you do get banned quickly here if you don't drink the Kool-Aid. Seen it happen. I am sure someday it will happen to me.

Pay attention to the people who have a good track record. Ignore those who are just seeking attention.

It's just like spotting the blind guy at a nudist colony.

They may have the home court advantage and we may lose but we won't get beat by much, the game is in Jan after all:popcorn:

you just dont walk into phog allen fieldhouse and come out with a W. there is a huge intimidation factor once you look up into the rafters and see all those kenpom, rip, sargin, and regular season banners hanging.
We did it the night coach Rupp died! And we can do it again!

Perhaps, on Jan. 30, we might witness Skal or Jamal Murray pull-off another Kevin-Durant-in-Allen-Fieldhouse type of performance (2007):

Below is a link to an article about the amazingness and significance of Durant's AFH performance, with quotes from Durant's father, Bill Self, several sports-writers, and from an awe-struck Danny Manning, who himself was 'a one-man show' (before his career-altering, nba, rookie-season knee injury). Manning's still the ncaa men's 10th-place all-time scorer (and best 'passing big man' I've ever seen). (Note: In the 1988 championship game, he had 31 points, 18 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 asts, and 2 blocked shots.):

Video highlights of that 2007 Durant game:

Or, perhaps Murray will pull a "Peeler":

In 1992, Mizzou's Anthony Peeler went to AFH and hung 43 on KU:

Note: Purdue's Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson hung 44 on KU, back in the 1994 NCAA Tourney (NOT in Allen FH)(Purdue won by 5), but Robinson suffered a back injury at the end of that KU game and, in Purdue's next game, vs. Duke (an Elite Eight match-up), he didn't move well and scored only 13. Of course, Duke went on to win, then play for the title (where they lost to Arkansas).

You guys need to remember that Kansas normally peaks at that time of the year. They're a January-February team for sure. Will be tough to win considering it will likely be the loudest environment ever played in the history of college basketball.
